Bobby Axelrod and Chuck Rhoades see their vicious rivalry reignited, while new enemies rise and take aim. Social impact pioneer Mike Prince poses a true threat to Axe’s dominance, and Chuck feuds with a formidable district attorney. Taylor Mason is forced back to Axe Capital, where Taylor must fight to protect their employees and their assets. He selected himself and harnessed his own nature? Sure. Except that he's psychologically damaged by his experience growing up with a violent unpredictable father, as he himself admits, which causes him to be petty, vindictive, and paranoid in his quest to be the richest and smartest man on the planet. But notice, not the happiest, most satisfied, or most benevolent. His conquests bring him little satisfaction and even less joy. No one is self-made. We do the best we can with the cards we were dealt, but the cards we were dealt account for much of who we are and what we become.

They are really trying to set Axelrod’s and Chuck’s personalities apart. While Chuck tries to embrace whatever sense of justice he had left in him, Axe tries to embrace the hungry monster inside him even more in this season.

Well said! I was not happy with how this turned out. Axe had a chance to allow life to happen to his son and was even told about it yet choose the elitist way out. His kid is going to be spoiled big time because at times the kid gave the impression that he was not happy with his dad rescuing him but that did not last long and he applauds his dad's "king's of the universe" speech. A major turning point for me in disliking Axe-I mean letting his friend die by withholding a possible cure was bad but it seems Axe has passed the point of redemption. "Wags" seems even more devoid of humanity.

Glen h Well, if Billions ends like the real life case (Bharara vs SAC Capital), Rhoads will win and Axe Capital will be closed. But, like real life, Axe may be able to open another hedge fund opened to outside capital in 5 years.

@@otavioaugustobarrosdesouza4921 Bc we live in the real world. We don't live in theory humans will be humans and it doesn't matter if 99.9999999% of the population does the "moral" way, there will always be the "monsters" that rule. That is how it is in every single economic theory invented by man thus far and will be into the future because every system always has to take into account the human nature factor.

Chuck is not a wholesome goody two shoes justice warrior like he's supposed to be. He's greedy, lying, cheating, backstabbing and will do anything to win a case even if it breaks his moral code or if he goes outside his legal bounds even as far as breaking the law that he swore to uphold once he started in office. Chuck is trying to play the good guy role even though he's the dirtiest player in the game, at least we know Axe is a ruthless monster, Chuck just likes to pretend he's on the right side of the law by going after guys like Axe, even though he's worse than Axe and more guilty. Chuck and Axe are practically the same guy except I have more respect for Axe because he keeps it real, while Chuck is a big fake.

I love the subtle things in this show. Like the way he moves the podium to the side so you can't see the name of the school anymore and walks in front of it to really hammer home that he's bigger than the school. That the education he's giving in that speech is better than what they're learning in that prep school. So many subtilities in this show like that, you really have to watch over and over to catch them.

@@lalayon08 What do u call a system that when left to its own devices creates a class of elites that control the government, the media and the businesses, creating a feudalist society where the choices given is work hard for little or die for nothing but being born in the wrong social class; and the fact that such a society relies on unemployment to further exploit it citizens? Answer: capitalism Anyway I bet your rebuttal will be "no that is socialism" because u don't even know what that word means.

He's honest and that's why we love him. Morality isn't objective. Our base human instincts drive us to survive, to do better, to be strong and successful, to attract mates and to try and dominate, be the alpha. Chuck thinks he's morally right because he serves a government that is supposedly there to regulate and give every person a fair, equal opportunity. Axe embraces what humanity really is. We are not equal. Some are smarter, some are stronger, and some are more motivated, or all of the above. To against that is to go against nature, which is also immoral.

You can still see the writers of this speech are describing capitalism from a lefty point of view... the point of capitalism is the subjugation of others? Really? Thats what you think? Not even close. The whole point is that capitalism takes the powerfull driving force that can be called greed, and through voluntary exchange between two people, benefits both of them. Bill Gates is not subjugating his employees - he is trading something that he wants - their labour, for something they want, which is money and maybe some other resources... its a bit sad the writers dont understand this.

But when workers form unions in their self interest that's a big no-no in capitalism. Or when they go on strike in their self interest.

What? I was not interpreting a lefty point of view from this at all. I was getting a full on social-darwinist POV and I absolutely loved it.

To all of you who watch this scene trying to motivate yourself and somehow think this is the real business mindset, let me tell you that this is not quite right. Real companies and real society, have grown and will continue to grow with rules and social norms guiding our behavior, if we break that, we put our goals and ourselves at foolish risk. Ethics and social responsibility are key to a healthy and rapidly growing company. Of course, we have to be hungry and stay competitive, but we must follow the rules. Any fool can win the game by skipping the rules, only a real man can succeed by keeping the right path.

i've read your comment 11 times now and I think I understand now that your are speaking from the perspective from that of a loyal employee. so yes you are 100 percent correct those rules and social norms are set in place but they are only there to guide people like you, employees. however axelrod speaks of stepping over these rules and social norms and becoming greedy enough to create your own industries and setting your own rules and to subjugate others. so your statement "only a real man can succeed by keeping the right path", people like axelrod created that path for you to walk to begin with so in simple terms you have been already subjugated.

Great scene! The contrast is not between Chuck and Axe but between Axe and Taylor. Taylor tried pressure of uncertainty to close a deal while Axe found weakness to his prey and ate him. Taylor will eat but if onions are accidentally served he is not and Axe doesn't give a shit he is going to grub..🤔🤔
