I would not be surprised if he has some skeletons in his closet. And the students nearby are just as disgusting as the professor himself, they are shaming someone who has been harassed. STORY 1: *NTA* i’m really tired of hearing how the MIL automatically hates their DIL and always tries to start fight/dominate the DIL to be the dominant woman in sons life. It’s always narrowed down to emotional inc3$t where MIL needs to be the *only* important woman in her son’s life. Hearing all the shit MIL said to OP, all the insults and trying to start arguments, falls in that category. *I’m not sure Mark read the story or not* but 0P‘s started dating someone in college then his mother *enrolled in the same college* and *got a dorm close by* so she can always keep an eye on her son…. Can you imagine that type of craziness? You go to college, meet a guy you like, start dating, then all of a sudden his mom enrolls at your school so she can size you up. I’m pretty sure MIL fainting on the spot was her razee nominated acting. (correct me if I’m wrong but the only information about MIL being in the hospital was from the family so they’re probably pretending she’s in the hospital to make OP feel like shit) The rest of the family is just pure gaslighting. OP had to show that message to her husband. OP did not cause the damage, it was her psycho MIL not minding her own business. “Apparently at my college this behavior is labeled as harassment.” Noooo, that behavior is labeled as harassment because that’s what it IS. It would be called such anywhere. NOW you need to also report your professor for trying to force you into dropping your completely valid complaint. That’s despicable! If you don’t report them the probably WILL take it out on you, so it’s self-preservation.

Ohhh this makes me remember I have an AITA story 🙄😂 My brother and I used to be super close, we were almost inseparable! He always needed my help and stupid me always did even if it put me in a bad spot. Well he ended up moving 2 hours away and before he even did I told him I wouldn't be going up that far, I dont like driving and anxiety isnt my friend. Well I figured it would be okay because our family lives all around me as well as his wife's family, literally 5 min drive for most. Long story short he moved there and kept asking me to go visit and I said no explained why but said since hes nearby all the time I'd love to meet him. Well they got pregnant about a year ago, my mom called and said my brother had something to tell me. I called him and he acted confused. Said nope theres nothing to tell so I shrugged it off. 2 weeks later my mom got annoyed and just said they're pregnant, apparently he didnt want to tell me because I hadn't gone up to see his new home. It's a 2 way street, it shouldn't always be me trying to go see him, only time he makes the effort is when he wants something. AITA for not going to visit my brother 2 hours away when I get anxiety driving long distances? I also have a dog that is very needy and I could only stay for maybe an hour then drive another 2 hours home. I dont think I'm the AH because hes literally nearby every other day! But I'm curious

Story 2: First off, the guy's future is NOT ruined. He's young, he's got time to correct his behavior and do whatever he needs to do to have another chance at his career. #1 - OP is NTA. Whether she showed hubby the text, or he could have seen it on her phone. Let's be real; MIL created this entire problem, got caught doing it, and decided to do something and go to hospital. First story: NOPE! NTA!! Not at all!! My mother in law is a jerk too. She pulls this same crap by sending me texts, thinking I won’t show my husband. Sike! Every nasty thing she sends me gets copied, pasted and sent to him. THEN she has the nerve to get pissed that I tell him! I’m a pretty chill person and I’ve let that woman and family be disrespectful to me to a point I had enough. The funny thing is, the only reason they see their son is because I would bring him when I went to see them. He has given me explicit “permission” that I can stop trying with his family. Done! They’re going to realize soon enough the only reason they saw him was because of me. So, no, NTA at all. People who condone terrible behavior from people who’re old enough to know better can go get bent too. I applaud the communication she and her husband have, as well as his shiny spine! He’s probably avoiding because he’s so frustrated about it all. But never deal with it yourself because that’s when things get twisted and warped into something that is no where near the truth of what happened.

NTA for story 1 and 2. This is just common sense 101: if the truth about your toxicity (OP showing husband MIL's nasty text in story 1, OP standing up for herself after harassment in story 2) turns people against you, then the problem really is you and not the person who decided to speak out. I hate it when people try to blame others for their own nasty behaviour.

2: report that professor to the people that you reported him to. you may not LEGALLY be protected from retaliation, but it sounds like they would definitely be on your side if the guy DOES make trouble... and you KNOW that if you had agreed to forgive/date the guy (who got himself suspended, btw), he'd be holding his "teacher's pet" status with the guy who teaches your required class over you any time you tried to disagree with him... any professor that shows that kind of favoritism has no business being in charge of a required class. by all means, teach something that fulfills the requirement, but if everyone has to take your class, you don't get to play favorites...

1. He's out of line in his response, but so is the stupidity of blaming diabetes for her fainting over being verbally attacked. She might pay attention to hubby's response to not liking what people do. The kid is going to have dad find something he hates and show up wherever the kid is to rage, scream, and yell verbal abuse at it. None of them are good people. If OP finds his lack of anger management okay for adults, that's stupid enough, but that same behavior is also going to hit kids, and staying means she finds that valid treatment of children too. 2. Time to turn in the professor for abusive, sexist behavior. The boys club is unleashed and running rampant. Keep going back because he is already doing damage. 3. Why does the new husband have any access to son's college fund? 4. Really can't be bothered to go 25 minutes with a kid for time with family... Why does she think the woman should want to go to her house when it is completely clear she does not want her mil in her home? She and mil are using hubby as a tug toy where both are trying to get rid of the other so he is only focused on her. She ever feels superior about telling her hubby he is permitted an hour to go see his mother.

Why is it men think them asking out a woman who has clearly no romantic interest, says no twice, then feel it's appropriate to call the woman horrible, demeaning names, accuse them of being a 'slut' (if they were a 'slut' they probably would have already done the deed with the guy and moved on to someone else) and tell them they should feel grateful for the guy creeping on them? There is no way to make logical sense out of that mind set and behavior. People are allowed to tell you no, for whatever reason they have for doing so, and degrading someone for saying no is just so much small d energy!

1) If your MIL was nasty to you and insulting you, abuses your dog, it is only reasonable you let your husband know. NTA. She got what she deserved, she is the one who caused irreparable harm to her relationship with her son, not you. She is vile ... going NC with them all is the thing to do. You owe no one an apology. I hope your husband will not hold this against you; I think he just needs time to decompress after this. Your husband should share that nastiness from his mother with all the other family members saying this is why he want's nothing more to do with her, and the same for them if they support her. If they do, block them all and go on with your life. 2) Too bad OP that somebody does not know how to take no for an answer and is nasty and abusive. It is good his harassment came to light and that he will have consequences for his behaviour. DO NOT allow yourself now to be harassed by the person who considered him their pet student. You are not a bully, you are being bullied. Go up the chain of command and do not let that instructor harass and abuse you. Document, document, document and make them also have consequences. Good luck OP, I'm proud of you for doing the right thing to not just accept this. 3) So sorry OP for the loss of your child, and OMG, what sort of husband would 'steal' this money and abandon you so he could go play, when you are grieving and needed him. He is awful and I hope you leave him and do sue to get the money back. He is despicable, get away from him, he can add nothing positive to your life. 4) It is unfortunate MIL can't manage to come visit at your home rather than expect you to pack up a small children and go to her so she can then pretty much ignore her family, but you have made it clear you dislike her and made her unwelcome so I'm not sure you are the most accurate reporter. MIL sounds awful, but so were you for saying what you did, especially when you saw your husband wanting you to stop, for that YTA. You hurt your husband and made the situation worse.

Story 3 Addon: To those telling OP to join ex in lawsuit against husband, if OP is in the U.S. she cannot do that. Spouses have laws preventing them from testifying against each other. Her soon to be 2nd ex husband could claim spousal protection. This applies in both criminal and civil law. Unfortunately this means she cannot help her ex either because ANY help she gives him will be fruit of the poisonous tree and he will lose the law suit. The ONLY exception to spousal privilege is in the case of financial, physical or mental abuse TOWARDS OTHER SPOUSE OR CHILD. OP does not legally meet this criteria. Even giving ex anymore info can cause the lawsuit to be lost. She would have to be divorced first. By divorced, I mean the official divorce, not a simple separation.
