I played 5s last summer and this random girl showed up that was like 6'1" and she started cooking everyone. Come to find out she was the younger sister of a WNBA player and even she could seriously play and I think was going D1. There's just a different level of consistency and technique that's hard to explain without seeing in person for yourself. It's truly inspiring to watch.

I was friends with NBA player years ago and happened to go with him to their teams gym while he was doing rehab for injury. While waiting there for him, I would watch other players on their team shoot/ practice. Even ones we would consider "bad" shooters on that team, would probably make 70-80% of their shots during practice when there is no hand in their face or someone actively guarding them. Like people always say...there is levels to every sport, and pros are pros for a reason.

At that level, they’ve all gotten top level coaching on every aspect of their game, especially shooting, and spent thousands upon thousands of hours on basketball, probably a couple of hours a day since maybe sixth grade, practicing, thinking, visualizing the game. All positive reinforcement for what they want to do on the court, so when they get there, it’s all automatic. It’s having an opponent that’s the wild card, and all you can do is be prepared. It’s like Steph Curry in the Olympics, they asked what he was thinking in those final minutes against France, and he said he thinks about nothing really, it’s just the knowledge that you’ve put in the work and you’ve done it before a thousand times.

This is why I never understood the confidence of some guys that think they could destroy some D1 or WNBA players because they peaked in high school. I remember at my college playing with this girl that played D1 and she was about 6’2. She was cooking everyone, no look passes, jelly layups in peoples faces, crossing people up 😭. It was bad. Unless you’ve played college ball or you’re pretty athletic and good at sports in general. I don’t think the average guy is messing with them.

That wasn’t “tough”, it was a 4 step traveling violation.
@skurfntx19 күн бұрын
There's no way that step-thru halfway through the video is not travelling. He establishes a pivot foot on the fake (left foot), then steps through with the right foot. At this point, the only foot on the ground is the right foot and his pivot foot has been lifted, which is travelling. He then jumps off of his right foot for the lay-up, which started around the 3-point line in a non 2-step continuation motion. I've seen Jass defend this move before, just as the Professor does, but they are both 100% wrong. IT IS TRAVELLING.
@NatFar36919 күн бұрын
In that case it’s a travel, but if he kept his pivot foot planted while he did the step through then it wouldn’t have been
@jerrychavis702519 күн бұрын
Seems like you don’t know what a basic step through is. Literally just google “is a step through a travel”
@jerrychavis702519 күн бұрын
And here’s a short of an nba player doing it and not getting called for a travel kzbin.infoiLvUMRQvcjo?si=OqZ9ZioouRr4_i4R
@ZacharyManthe19 күн бұрын
Basketball rule that many get wrong. The travel occurs when the original pivot foot is placed back on the floor. This is the entire reason “2 steps” exist. First step is the pivot, second step other foot and lift the pivot. A third step would place the original pivot foot back down, a travel.
@skurfntx18 күн бұрын
@@jerrychavis7025 You just proved my point by posting that video. The moves in that NBA video are fundamentally different than what Jass did in this video. The difference is that the NBA player steps through but doesn't lift his pivot foot in order to jump off of his non-pivot foot. The NBA player jumps off of both feet at the same time, thus not traveling. This is perfectly legal and it's the same reason you are allowed to do a jump shot after establishing a pivot foot. It's a small difference, but it's the difference between a legal move and travelling.

I love this. So many people disrespect WNBA players because of misogyny. It was great to see her cook casual bball players to show just how far ahead professionals are. Get some respect on the WNBA.
