If you plan to go solo mining, you should probably use some calculator first, what is the probability to actually get the block, and then do the math for several blocks at least, just to even up the randomness of that calculation. It isn't too hard to calculate the network hashrate vs. your miner hashrate to see what are the odds.
@mayainverse94293 жыл бұрын
well it is without a doubt on average higher than poolmining as you basically have the same chances on both so solo mining in theory is worth exactly what pool mining is worth minus the pool tax. the only variable to consider is the average time to get a block. is it a few days. few weeks or is the average shot at a block 10 years. in that case you probably don't want to do it and the small pool tax is probably worth it for more reliable income.
@captainhappy3 жыл бұрын
@@mayainverse9429 Yes solo mining on average will do more because there is no pool taking it's share. What I have understood, you can increase your chances by having fast network connection, that lessens the amount of shares which haven't arrived in time. Anyways, I wouldn't solo mine if calculator says the average time between found blocks would be 10 years. But if that same average would be like one week, then it might be well worth the try.
@mayainverse94293 жыл бұрын
@@captainhappy I wonder how much of an advantage would it be if u actually set up a farm next to the server with super fast latency. I wonder how much these people who make the miners are pulling in because they get a cut also. im not sure why most crypto have the payouts structured this way would be better imo if payouts were structured as a single giant pool already without there being actual pools.
@captainhappy3 жыл бұрын
@@mayainverse9429 Well, the keyword is "decentralization" that's why there isn't any single giant pool and I hope there never will be. The system must stay decentralized to stay functional against attacks.
@captainhappy3 жыл бұрын
@@mayainverse9429 The other important keyword with decentralization is also "trustless", meaning the system can not trust anyone, it has to work autonomously, otherwise the transactions and everything would be at risk.

I'd suggest you set up a few rigs to solo mine Raven. As you said you've been lucky and just because you found a block within 15 days does not mean that you're on par for 2 blocks of Raven per Month, per Miner. If it's 6 months down the road and you have scored 2 blocks per miner then yes swap over and go balls to the wall. That's my 2 Cents do with it what you may...

Yep I have my gaming computer mining on a 3080 and than I have my AMD rig that is putting out about as much hash rate as both his 3090's put together solo mining on minerpool that way one might hit before the others. Yah the 3080 isn't as powerfull as the 3090 but with the other rig doing what both his would of done put together it will hopefully hit a block sooner than 15 days while the gameing computer I turn off the mining when I play games so it's being turned on and off so it's only doing half the work it could be so it might take a month to hit a block.

Well, I mean, 9% Luck tells you everything. That means that you did it in 1/11th of the time and yeah, that means you got 11x what you would. I don't really see how distance has anything to do with it other than maybe saving some stale shares. The probability of 2 people getting the same share (if that's even possible with pooling) within 100ms or so is beyond improbable. A week or two ago I checked out someone mining Firo that was earning like $30k per month and had an AVERAGE of 130% luck! That means he made 30% LESS than if he mined in the shared pool instead. It's fun gambling but that's all it is.

If we miners are interested in the development of Ravencoin and a possible value increase, we should also take care of the network, meaning operate nodes. but my theory is that, with pool mining, if you mine 100 days, then you get 99 days worth of coins. But if you solo, then it could be that after 100 days, you still get 0, but then 130 days, then you hit it and get (let's say 100)... and using the law of big number, if you mine 1000 days, you get 1000 days worth... but you may be luck and get 1100 or unlucky and get 900 only... but if you mine in a pool, then you get 990... which is good enough to me

ah, with pool mining, if the price go up and up, then you get the little and little bit, and they can go up in price... but if solo, if you don't get anything for 30 days, you have nothing to go up in price and it can be frustrating... is it true that using a pool is good for dollar cost averaging, because price go up, you get some, price go down, you get some... it is true that once you hit it by solo, you get the full pot... but then if the price go up, then probably more people are joining and so your winning is diluted by being harder to win
