I don't know why it's even so widely talked about as a "phase" thing. Maybe some people have a phase of being particularly obsessed with something, and then chill out a little, but tbh in my experience most things people are passionate about tend to remain with us in some way for life. Especially music, even if we get into other things, we don't suddenly lose interest in what was so meaningful to us

@@bowitboy6635 A lot of people don't really understand what emo actually is and that it came from punk. There was this very funny video we all watched back then called "How to be Emo" that is ridiculous but explains it pretty well lol. Saw Hawthorne Heights with Silverstein and JT from HH was out talking to fans and super nice and sociable. Tried to talk to Shane after the show and basically got brushed off and it literally crushed every fiber of my love for them, and I had loved Silverstein since I was 12 years old(this happened 2 years ago when I was 25), and I've pretty much been unable to listen to them ever since. Maybe it was a bad night, but man, it hurt. The other 2 bands on here were also so influential to who I am as a person. They're Only Chasing Safety was one of the cds my sister got me for Christmas 2005, as well as Discovering the Waterfront. I also used to listen to From First to Last religiously.

EVERY single emo band: yeah we’re definitely not emo I’d call us rock probably
@lite02214 жыл бұрын
They reject it because it has negative connotations that blurred the actual meaning of Emo, and this confusion started in the 2000s. People forget it was simply just a music genre relating to Hardcore Punk. They reject it because of that or they just simplify it to Rock because it’s a more familiar word. I don’t blame them for doing it.

We all connected with emo because we all had depression or anxiety feelings at some point and these bands sang about it and showed we weren't alone. Other genres talk about success, but emo talks about how things aren't always perfect and that's ok.
