@willstuart4504 I think with Paulino running 48.1 I think she’d have to be equal favourite with Sydney - she beat Sydney the one time they raced in a distance Sydney is very familiar with, which even the 200m runners (including gabby) couldn’t do even though Sydney is a novice at that distance. I think Paulino is oddly underrated despite just becoming 4th fastest ever.

Bolt actually turned 22 during the 2008 Olympics. The whole stadium sang happy birthday! He actually won gold in the 100 before turning 22. If they ever fix the schedule, Tebogo can absolutely be the first to pull off the 200/400 double since MJ. With Botswana having such a strong relay team, he can also realistically win the 4 x 400. Best sprinter since Bolt without question!

I only disagree with the fact that he is the greatest sprinter since Bolt. That he still needs to prove. For me the best in the Post-Bolt era is Noah Lyles. I feel like his 44.29 in the 400 shouldn't even be listed as his "best" 400 time. Yes, I know it technically is, but he ran that in the beginning of the season while not even being in shape yet, and he also shut down at the end. Plus, he doesn't even train for it. If he would have run all the way through the finish line, he would have gone sub 44, which is INSANE for a 100m/200m runner in the beginning of the season. I honestly believe if he trained for the 400, was fully in shape, and ran all the way through the finish line, he would go sub 43 in the open. He already broke van Niekerk's 300m world record (again, in the beginning of the season while not yet being fully in shape), and he ran a 43.04 split even after running all the rounds of the 100m and 200m in the Olympics (and again, without training for a 400m). This kid's 400m potential is off the charts, and as an ex-400m runner, I'm desperately hoping he starts training for it so I can see a sub 43 second 400m and just sit back in awe.

At the moment the 100m is Tebogo's "weakest" event (only finished 6th in Paris) and that shows in his relative slow starts in the 200m where he normally comes off the bend in second place or worse. His ability in the 300m and 400m gives him the strength over the second 100m. As his 100m improves his 200m will improve.

The only guy that I’d say was comparable to Tebogo at this age was Xavier *The X-Man* Carter who won the NCAA *100m & 400m dashes at age 20* in 2006. He ran 19.63 in 2006 at age 20 in a race where he beat Tyson Gay, Usain Bolt, Wallace Spearmon & LaShawn Merritt. *At the time, it was the 2nd fastest 200m in history.* *X-Man was a high school All-American football player* and played for LSU. I think X-Man was undefeated against Usain Bolt and the rumor back in the day that Bolt was intimidated by Carter. Before injuries and off the track issues, I used to think X could be in the Bo Jackson & Deion Sanders stratosphere as greatest all around athletes.

100% agree. Despite what people think of Lyles and his performance at the 200m at the Olympics this year, he's still the 3 time World Champion and most definitely will be looking to retain again without any setbacks. I definitely believe Noah, once again in the eyes of some, is viewed as vulnerable competing in the 100m and 200m despite what he's accomplished and improved in both events over the past few years. As Tebogo, Kishane and others continue to grow within the sport, I hope people don't underestimate Lyles because he's proven people wrong on so many occasions that it can certainly happen again in the near future.

He still has 4 years to drop his 100m to 9.6x and perhaps threaten the 100m record. He's a contender for the fastest 150m as well. His 200 can go as low as 9.85 + 9.35 for a 19.2 time in the 200m! That leads to the 30.69 he ran for the 300M world record. Add 12.2 to that to get 42.9 (comparable to Lee Evans in 1968) or maybe even match the last 100m in a 400m race of 11.5 of Michael Johnson for a possible eye-watering 42.2 time in the 400m and you can see the potential!

@@francisasiedu6969 in the near future with improvements in technology we can get close to sub 9 in the future remember Bolt himself blvs that the 200m he could have tried to go 19s flat or near that had he got equal competition and motivation enough. I remember growing up never thought we would see anyone break 19.30s by Michael Johnson .. but now 3 guys have gone under that 19.32s and even his 43.18s in the 400m we never thought anyone would break that in our time but Wayde did

I'm almost certain that Tebogo will eclipse MJ's 200m PR. I base that on Tebogo's 100m PR, he seems like a faster sprinter. Whether he can beat Bolt's record is another story.

If he would achieve all these 4 times he would be the greatest sprinter of all time without a doubt. Alone the 9.65 and 18.92 s would put him above Bolt. But it's not likely this will happen. Realistically he will break the 300 and either the 200 or 400 record, but that's about it. Quincy Hall and Hudson-Smith have at least similar potential to break the 400 m wr.

Steve Lewis peaked in his teens. And Bolt and Johnson got stronger as they got older. Knighton is only 20 and he ran the same 19.4 that Tebogo did and he may have peaked in his teens as well. There’s no telling if Tebogo will get better. Steve Lewis had more hype and the track world in the palm of his hands as a child if he didn’t get any better. You can never tell.

Tebogo's not just our new Olympic champion, he owns this event now. I had him pegged to win the Olympics because he's been over-achieving all year. Who could doubt the WR holder in the 300m wouldn't have the strength and speed to dominate the 200m? This is essentially what Sherika Jackson did, went from being a good 400m runner to a great 200m runner.. But Tebogo is so young he will be around for a long time to come.

"Owns" the event? Lyles got sick once. Let tebogo cook and compete instead of putting him on a pedestal. We will see where both of them are at next season. This is not what Sherika Jackson did...she went from 4 to 1+2..tebogo is moving toward the exact opposite, 1+2 to 4. Really odd analysis...
