I test my new Vitamix stainless steel blender jar

I've been considering one of these, but they're expensive. When I saw them offered at a discount price on the Costco web site, I purchased one. It might be especially useful this winter when I enjoy making hot soups. Already I'm thinking split green pea soup. I enjoy soup in winter.
In this video I unbox the jar and test it making a smoothie with frozen banana, fresh squeezed grape juice and yogurt. I also show off a new toy someone sent me.

I also bought this on impulse! Got it yesterday for $99 with overnight shipping from Amazon - a crazy good deal IMO! I’m waiting for it to arrive today 😊 I only currently have the 64 oz container and personal blending cups, and thought a 48 oz would be nice, but the stainless steel would be perfect if I choose to grind grains and make homemade bread. Thank you for the demo - I'll be buying my S.S. container at Costco tomorrow while they are discounted. Question: Why dd you put the grapes through your juicer? One of the many reasons I love my VItaMix is the I can make grape juice from whole grapes. I freeze it in 8-oz. freezer jars for fresh grape juice all winter. I do the same with tomatoes, cut the core out, quarter them and through the VitaMix. I both fruits, the seeds are pulverized leaving only a fine sediment. Best, all the vitamins of both fruits there, the body, the skin and the seeds. Again, thank you. 😊

Also, I love my grain bowl! Keeping the grain frozen until milling it gives the most incredible baked goods.

Thanks for the question. No special reason why I use the juicer other than because I have it. I also have a Vitamix aero jar, which I can use for juices. Thankfully there is more than one way to accomplish something and we are free to do things the way we like best. I hope you enjoy your stainless steel Vitamix jar. I bought mine mostly to use in smoothie videos, which my doctor told me to stop making to keep my blood sugar in the normal range. I could make vegetable smoothies with it. I need to experiment with fresh tomato juice. -Dennis

Ah, yes, the grain jar. I use that for grinding rolled oats because I like a bowl of warm smooth oatmeal before going to bed. Thanks again.-Dennis

@@MyKitchenVlog Thank you answering my question. Now I must learn about the Vitamix aero jar! I think you will like the fresh tomato juice. It does taste a bit different than cooked but in a good way - of course basil and whatever else sounds good is a great additive. I've yet to make a straight tomato sauce for pasta which might be interesting (with basil and olive oil of course).

You always make me chuckle - loved those lego cars!!! So now that you’ve tried the stainless steel container, i’d love to know your thoughts on the the advantages of it as compared to the plastic one that i think comes with the vitamix - i always value your opinion!

Thanks Nancy. The advantages I think of are durability and appearance. It's less likely to chip or crack, and less likely to stain. I would also feel safer pouring boiling hot liquid into it, like when making soup -- something I plan to do a lot of this winter. Some people don't like to prepare food in plastic, but that doesn't concern me. --Dennis

Instant pot gasket is also prone to guckus (spelling?), when my mom gave it to me for Xmas she warned me to keep that clean and now I know why, it gets gross. I’m not going to lie, this is a magnificent item but I can’t see how useful it is. Then again I’ve bought many, many similarly questionable items. If I had a large kitchen I’d own many more appliances. Then again not sure what I’d do with a Vitamix even if I had one. No question it’s a high quality powerful appliance. Love the contrasting cuffs on your rust colored shirt. Very nice. Always a delight to see a new video in my subs. I can’t believe you haven’t done a video on the California recall. As a resident of the state you must have some strong opinions on the topic. I need some political discussion, Dennis! Maybe I only say that because we are so similarly politically aligned. And please be careful with your Lego front loader, it seems to be dangerously powerful!

Thanks Eric. Another thing about that Instant Pot gasket being clean is that if it isn't the pot will leak pressure. I learned that the hard way. I also carefully clean the top edge of the pot liner. I'll probably use the metal blender jar mostly for videos. Although it suffers from water spots after washing, I have a stainless steel cleaner/polish that does a great job. It benefits from having a little lemon oil in it. A chef taught me a good way to use the blender. Combine canned tomatoes, a little onion, garlic, fresh parsley and fresh basil in the blender. Purée until smooth and then cook for a pasta sauce. I've done it several times. As for the California recall, I'm trying to write a script for a vlog. I don't have a lot to say though because I don't follow California politics as much as I probably should. -Dennis

The Instant Pot gasket can be replaced. Many people buy two and keep one for spicy foods. It is designed to be removed for washing with the necessity depending on what you are cooking. However, it will not pressurize if it the gasket not properly put back in. Regarding the VitaMix - it is more than an expensive blender. I bought mine after I had some serious dental work done and a dear friend brought me some food she had prepared for me in her VitaMix. I am very glad I bought it (and gave my blender to one of my sons). Yesterday, I bought the C Series 3500 for me eldest son who is going to have some extensive dental work done - it will help him be well-fed without risking damage to his stitches, etc.
