Gold and Silver had a notorious Pokémon clone glitch that was pretty non-volatile, and because of Gen 2's introduction of held items, it could also be used to clone items as well. That and the Gen 1 MissingNo glitch were both ones that captivated me as a kid.

Hello! I arrived from the Patterrz response vid. That glitch where they cloned the Diancie exists in the Gen 4 games as well. Over a decade ago I had a friend who asked me to help him with trading Pokemon across his games. One of the trades involved a Mew, and that particular trade was interrupted halfway through. When we both rebooted our games we both ended up getting that same Mew on both cartridges. I got to keep the extra Mew. We both tried to repeat this duplication scenario after but were never able to have it work since.

Explanation of every glitch shown in this video: 1. When the developers put the Ninab berry in the game, they simply didn’t expect the player to use it on a weakened Pokémon. You can use this glitch with various results, like using a “Decimark” (Basically the Gen 3 MissingNo.) or corrupting the PC. 2. When developers add movement to a character, they typically put a speed cap on how fast you can go using that particular move. When this is not implemented properly, you can use that to your advantage and greatly boost your speed. 3. When you encounter a Pokémon in any game, the pokemon you encounter is dependent on the value set on that particular area. When you watch the catching tutorial, that value is reset to 0, and the area you encounter MissingNo. at doesn’t have a value for spawning Pokémon since your in a town. 4. Back when 3D modeling was first being used in Nintendo products, developers needed a way to reduce lag but still showing the player the world. So as a solution, only certain areas are loaded at a time. To load in new areas, the player has to go over certain lines to activate a new chunk and another line that does the opposite. The bike is able to go fast enough to ignore these lines, and as a result, you can enter unloaded chunks. This can be used to get Shaymin, Darkri, and (in Diamond and Pearl only) Arceus. This is relatively the same in HeartGold/SoulSilver. 5. A simple dupe glitch. Do I need to elaborate?

Another thing about the missing no. glitch is that, after you encounter it (no need to catch it), the 7th item in your bag will bump up to x999. I did this to get all my Pokemon to level 100 with rare candies.

1:23 ...I understand why this explanation was simplified for better content, but it still irked me that less than 2 minutes into the vid, something utterly incorrect was already said: the Pomeg glitch doesn't make your HP go "negative" , since the HP value is stored as an _unsigned_ integer. what the glitch _actually_ does is cause the HP number to underflow, which sets it to the maximum unsigned 16bit value of 65535. this is why the glitched number renders as "?35" -- the quantity in the UI can't display any higher than 999, hence the game using _?_ in place of "655".
