Took my wife shopping for her first SDC gun years ago, she loved the SCCY. Mind you this was even before their reputation was widespread. It failed to feed at least 3 times EVERY mag. After a grueling 200 rounds it was thrown in the safe to never see the light of day again. Fast forward 6 years and I happen to come across it. I almost threw it away but decided to call the manufacturer. There was a $30 mailing fee to send it back to them and I received it back 3 weeks later. Holy Hell, the thing was completely fixed, updated and polished to a mirror shine. They even sent me 3 extra mags. I was amazed when I shot it. 400 rounds treating it very rough and it was as smooth as my HK. They have the ability to produce a decent handgun if they would just slow down and have some quality control before they ever left the building.

@@JOESMITH-bx8qvwhy don't you send them the gun and see if they'll pay shipping. $30 will add up. Ask if you could bring it in. They may be able to put it through its paces to while you're there and have them use the magazines that you're having problems with. Just my $.02. Good luck.

My wife bought one before I knew of it “being bad” I found the failure to feed is mainly due to the magazine having rough edges at the top where the round touches, the edges grab the round and stop it from moving, I filed it down and since has never had a failure to feed, it’s also (so far) never had a light primer strike

I wouldn't trust it for my wife to carry and ended up selling it and getting her a Shield. This model seems to have an improved trigger but that experience ruined it for me with Sccy's. @j.r.johnson6539Ай бұрын
Yes they would. I know Joe Roebuck personally through the fact that I drove for a car/limo service (now retired). I picked him and his wife up at their home to take them to a chartered jet. We stopped at his manufacturing facility in Daytona Beach and after about a 45 min guided tour of the place, (he found out I was 'into' guns) he gifted me a standard DVG-1 along with an extra entire top end with the red dot optic so that I literally have 2 guns in one. Went to the range last night with some friends, ran a few mags through it and had only 1 light primer strike. Dropped the round back in the chamber and it fired with no hesitation. Other than that one light strike, I've had no problems whatsoever with mine and I've had it since '22. Also, please understand that this and the CPX-1,2,3 are all intended as low cost ENTRY LEVEL pieces. His low price point is very good especially for folks with limited income. My usual EDC is a full size 1911, and I now have the DVG-1 as a backup/ankle gun. I really don't/can't understand all the hate for this gun that I hear. Mine's been damn near flawless....??

with my DVG-1 I've taken it out to the range four times, it only had 1 light primer strike which was happened some time around the 3rd or 4th magazine. The bad trigger reputation is most likely people not realizing that the CPX and DVG are different guns that both exist. The rear sight on my gun is not defective, however I did have one of the screws for the optics cut cover come off and get lost. No idea when it came off, SCCY shipped me more screws for it so that was pretty sweet. I don't currently carry the DVG-1, but I would.

I've had mine since 2020 and only had problems loading wide mouth hollow point ammo like sig v-crown due to the weird hump on the feed ramp. I recontoured the angle and polished it to a mirror finish. I have large hands and the Gen 1s finger grooves would dig into my fingers so I shaved them off but since then 100% reliable. I have heard great things and I have heard the worst about them. It seems like a consistency in quality is the issue. That being said I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who can't or will not overcome things like this. I over paid for mine because of the pandemic bs and would not recommend that anyone pay over 200.

You should check out the FMK, it is a glock 19 gen 3 clone, and with mine as long as you run 124 grain 9mm or higher it runs fine, but with 115 grain it was having malfunctions, i contacted the company and they sent me another recoil spring and it has ran fine every since, no matter what you run in it. It is a veteran owned and operated company, that has a great product for the price, think i gave $269 for mine off sportsmans outdoor superstore
@recoilrob324Ай бұрын
Micro pistols are difficult to make function properly regardless of ammo being fed to them. If you spring it light enough to cycle 115's (or lighter) then feed it 124 or 147's the slide is going to recoil harder and batter the frame. If you spring it heavy enough to prevent battering with the heavy weight ammo....it's not going to cycle the light stuff. The light strikes indicate a weak striker spring...which makes sense since it's fully cocked and if you put in a stiffer spring it works against the recoil spring trying to hold it out of battery. A stronger striker spring will need a stronger recoil spring which then will make it not want to function with light ammo. Properly sprung for heavy ammo I'm sure the pistol could be made to work reliably....but only with the ammo it's sprung for. Micro pistols have always had these compromises and ever since KelTec introduced the P-11....these things have been happening. Don't buy a micro 9 and expect it to function with any ammo you stick in it....and grip them firmly not the 'modern' grip as used here. 'Limp wristing' is a thing especially when spring tensions have to replace slide mass in the operational cycle.
@timd729Ай бұрын
A lot of people say 124 grain is a lighter recoiling option for the 9mm. That is why that weight is so popular. 147 grain is popular for silenced guns. 115 grain is what most guns are sighted in for at the factory.
@timd729Ай бұрын
I think a lot of malfunctions on micro pistols have to do with people with bigger hands making contact with the slide in someway during shooting. Ive seen a lot of tactical gunbros on youtube shooting their guns, accidentally pushing up on the slide release, locking back the slide when not empty, and wondering why they are getting malfunctions.

My wife carries one due to an “old Army injury” to her wrist. They are easy to rack. First time at the range, it malfunctioned a couple times, mag issue and LPS. Took a ride down to Daytona to see about getting it repaired under warranty, and absolutely no flaws since then. I bought her a Shield 2.0 a few months later, and she went back to the SCCY. Simply loves that little thang. They do have an incredible service department. Usually no questions asked warranty policy…except for asking what went wrong. I personally don’t like the long trigger pull, but that’s my only complaint.
