The reason why Aussies call the English poms or pommies is actually related to pomegranates! When Poms come out to Australia they become so red from the heat/sunburn that they look like a pomegranate, hence pommie. So you’re not too far off with the pomegranate joke 😛

I've had a thought about your tea-disliking situation. Have you ever tried Rooibos tea? It's not really tea like you know it. The kinds of tea that are most prevalent in the UK are mostly Camellia sinensis, the tea plant. Rooibos tea, however, comes from Aspalathus linearis, a completely different plant. It's still tea, technically, but it has a much different flavour, one that you might like. I'm sure you'll be able to find some in the UK (just checked - yep, there's a bunch of it on Amazon) and would like to see you try it. Just get some Rooibos tea, steep it nice and strong, add sugar and milk - just like any other tea - and enjoy. If you like the taste, that is.
@robzombieshot6 жыл бұрын
Jay33721 seeing you like Asian/sushi, green tea made in a Cold brew w/cream or ? You like, n its made into ice cream smoothies etc.. i like coffee too but i hv had to cut back on acids and anything cooked in Hot water leaches the bitter acid out of either coffee or tea. Technically any leaves, roots , flowers n even barks, you use to cook with for added flavor can be used as a tea... my son has been watching your vids for over a yr. I think he likes it a bit. Eh? Stat COOL!!

If Barry doesn't like normal tea, he'll probably like Redbush even less - the smell is quite offputting, let alone the taste. I've tried it several times, but have never managed more than a couple of mouthfuls before feeling sick. It's a very 'Marmite' (I love Marmite) thing, I've found.

Just an FYI, the ginger is used to cleanse the palate between bites of sushi! The ginger neutralizes the oils released from the fish. It’s so that each bite is “fresh” so you can fully taste how each roll is intended to taste. :)

There is NOT more caffeine in tea than coffee! There is more per gram of leaf/bean, but not in the finished product because you have to use way more beans than leaves per cup! It's some strange urban myth in the UK that's completely wrong...!

Try different teas. I dont do earl grey or english breakfast unless their iced and sweet. But there's different floral and fruity teas out there that are great hot with and without sugar (not to mention white and green teas). Right now my favorite is a tea that is made with butterfly pea flowers "Magical Unicorn Tea" by Savory Tea Co. I like it hot as is and I also like it cold in a clear glass so I can do the color changing trick with some lemonade and basically make a magical arnold palmer out of it. And Im still working on my Samurai Chai from Teavana that I bought before they went out when I need caffine. Make that using some soymilk(as in heat up soymilk and brew it in it) and some vanilla extract when you want a extra treat, sweeten as needed depending on your soymilk. Depending on the mix, its good as is or needs sweetening.

Drink it with milk and sugar, Barry. I love tea, but it tastes foul as you were drinking it. Sugar and a good stir, not too much milk. Or sugar and a touch of lemon, but no milk. The sugar takes the edge off of the tannins in the tea.

I was just amused that Barry, who doesn't like tea (and it's not the end of the world, even though I'm English - it's only a drink, and there are far, far bigger problems to worry about) tries to drink tea 'neat', which even some hardened tea drinkers find beyond the pale.

@bcaye6 жыл бұрын
Lorraine Nichols, actually, orange pekoe refers to the size of the leaves that are picked from the Camellia sinensis plant. The only higher grade is flowery pekoe. "The same things most teas are made from" is ignorant-tea is an infusion of leaves. Teas made from any type of plant can be properly called tea.

Those things are horrid. They never really taste of the fruit they're meant to, they taste like hot water that's briefly glanced at a fruit. They're also not tea, but people keep calling it tea. Tea refers to a specific plant.
@dutchik51075 жыл бұрын
@@duffman18green tea is tea. mint tea is tea. You even have poison ivy tea.... Tea is just hot water infused with leaves.
@duffman185 жыл бұрын
@@dutchik5107 tea is a specific plant. Mint is not that plant. The plant is called Camellia sinensis. Green tea is tea because its made from the same plant as regular tea, its just processed differently before you brew the leaves in tea. So something like Rooibos is not tea, its just colliqiually called redbush tea, but it's not Camellia sinensis so it's not actually tea. Things have names for a reason. Otherwise you could go to a cafe and ask for a cup of tea and some smart arse will rip out some leaves off a tree outside or rip grass from the ground and brew it, and go "well tea is just leaves in water". Sorry, but it isn't.
