Those feeders have worked for me when packed with loads of oily mackerel chum. Attracts them towards my bait more than when used without, when using 2 rods.

Another great video thanks Matt! Dover Sole was a nice surprise, and a Bass is always welcome when things are a bit slow. No finger stalls here - I've got a Breakaway Cannon on my Vertix rod and swear by it. In a moment of madness last year I bought another bargain 15ft rod to go with the Vertix, but the reel seat screw is above the reel seat so can't fit a Cannon to it. That rod is having a clean up & going back on the market! Only been out once this year - chest/breathing issues not good so I have to avoid the cold and wet. Tight lines, stay safe & well - Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍

Oh yea something to watch out for those fixed reel seats. I’m sure that will be a good rod for someone at least. Hopefully some better warmer, drier weather for us then.

yes, have just edited a lure fishing video and i mention the tape as a must have too. I don't like it as my finger protector though on the beach gear. It's a bit cumbersome. B ut its a definite must have. Thanks for watching and appreciate you taking the time to comment

Casting tip for a couple of extra yards try ( after cast gets away) Dropping rod down stops friction from the rings on the line. As lead falls from sky so should the rod. You'll be surprised at extra distance it gives you...

Excellent upload again Matt, I've been with you since the early days,to many ads tho in this short vid
@SaltwaterAngler2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mick, yea it’s a tricky one with those ads. I personally use premium now so don’t see them and can download KZbin vids. To a point I’m at the mercy of the adverts I deselect them when I can as a creator. Also if I ran videos without ads it seems that KZbin are less likely to show my videos and I want them to be seen as much as possible because I do put a lot of effort in to making them . Hope that makes sense. So yes I know you have been following for ages and it’s appreciated 👍

I definitely think scent has a small percentage to play, peeler crab or black lug oil. In the bigger tides… tangent, Have you ever caught a bass on garlic? And have you ever heard that bass don’t like nicotine where the scent may transfer onto dead baits from a smokers hands?
@SaltwaterAngler2 жыл бұрын
I have yes, and there used to be a thing where the driver never caught. apparently serin from steering wheel puts the off. Worth thinking about when you fish with 4 of you and the driver always catches less ?

Those swimfeeders you mention at timestamp 6:45 I used many times in the (fairly distant now) past and they totally work for a bunch of species but are particularly good for black bream I think. I don't have one at the moment, but I'm trying to figure out a way of using small, used, onion net-bags for the same purpose. I reckon I have my technioque for that sorted hypothetically but it remains to seen what happens when I try it for real.
@SaltwaterAngler2 жыл бұрын
sounds like a fun experiment ! You will have to let us know how you get on !
@bigmoncrief60712 жыл бұрын
I made my own using old style plastic film canisters with a bunch of holes drilled in them. With a small hole drilled top and bottom they fit on the wire of a long tail bomb. Definitely works for bream and for whiting in winter. I'm always surprised more sea fishermen don't try things like this. Everyone goes on about scent trails. This seems like an obvious thing to try.

Do you ever live bait for bass on float, we have had some good results using small mullet
@SaltwaterAngler2 жыл бұрын
Yes theres a 9lb Bass i used using live bait on the channel. I probably lost a few subscribers but as you say it does attract the fish - Ive had three 8 lb plus fish on live bait.

May I ask what are the types of fish we are allowed to keep if we go sea fishing?
@SaltwaterAngler2 жыл бұрын
Yea , good question. There is a readily available list of minimum sizes for the length of fish. In addition seasonal restrictions on bass size and numbers. You might also want to consider not keeping unpalatable fish. There are also bans on silver eels for example. Add to the list regional restrictions so things like bass nursery areas are no keep areas. So check out the lists in places like British sea fishing website.

@@SaltwaterAngler fair point but when I was a casting instructor i taught timing timing timing.... I used to use 15lb braid, 80lb leader and green top impact shield lead. 7 or 8oz i believe.. With good timing makes for a better longer cast.... But to each his own.

@@SaltwaterAngler Some of the guys on one of the forums a few months ago were talking about Tronixpro Bait capsules. There is a Tronix video about them on KZbin. The theory seems to be you can put fragile baits in the tube above the weight, and use a long trace if you wish to do so. Seems a good idea to stop your worms or Prawns coming off the hook and heading for the horizon! I'll put a link to the KZbin video in a separate post below, as KZbin seem to be deleting posts with links again. 🙄🙄
