Apparently I’m a Romantic. The question about shouting and breaking stuff made me laugh. I’m quite susceptible to tilt if I lose several games in a row. Instead of just moving on with my day, stubbornness kicks in with thoughts like “how many coin tosses in a row can I lose!?”. Result; couple hundred points of rating lost on multiple occasions followed by a chessistential crisis.

I'm pretty good with tilt except for one situation (which happens more than it should): when I have a dominant position, am up a piece or more... and I blunder M1 or M2. It gives me the barely controllable urge to scream and punch myself in the head. I know when it happens it's time to be done with chess for the day. Nothing useful will happen after

A lot of people haven’t noticed this bug on the test, so I’ll point it out. If you ever score wholly on one metric, it incorrectly loops your score back around to the other side (i.e.: if you get 100% intuitive, it will give you a calculating type instead). Your score, Chess Vibes (Attacking, Aggressive, Intuitive, Emotional) is actually the Magician type (Natural is Attacking, Solid, Intuitive, Calm). You got Natural because you scored 100% on Aggressive and Emotional, which looped those scores around. I’m hoping the bug will get fixed soon. Could this get pinned to avoid confusion for other people taking the test?

I wish I had noticed this comment sooner, as it backs up my original comment nicely and removes all doubt that I am a Magician and not a Barbarian like the test told me the 3 times I took it with 100% on Intuitive.

That’s why Tal got positional solid calculator style when taking the test it’s because he is so aggressive so tactical and so intuitive that they looped, and that’s why hikaru got technician and Magnus got magician

I kind of know the feeling. "Unexpectedly" must be worse than what I did go through in 2020. Mother had cancer. I continued to enjoy Chess, miraculously. I was in "the Void" emotionally, but recently had a breakthrough with a meditation technique called The Journey, when I attended a "Journey Intensive" . this is not intended as marketing. I am glad you shared about your loss, it makes me feel we are not alone in our struggles. I can think my mother is in a better place.

I appreciate the condolences and nice words from everyone, cancer is rough. I at least have the idea that she didnt suffer as she passed away in her sleep. It was sudden and unexpected. I had been at her house just hours before she was found. I'm only 25 and she was only 42 when she passed. I'm an only child and my parents separated about a decade ago so alot of the burden of her passing fell into my lap. Planning, funeral expenses and talking to people. The ladder being my largest hurdle. I still nearly 6 months later don't actually know what happened because I haven't had it in me to go pick up her death certificate or call the autopsy place.

I think there might be something wrong with how this chess personality test works. I took the test a few years ago and 2 more times today and got Barbarian every time, but I'm 100% intuitive whereas a Barbarian is more calculating than intuitive, which I found out by examining the various results and returning to Barbarian without my results visible. I would probably be a Magician if this test properly evaluated my intuitive results, but that's under the assumption that the test got my attacking/positional, aggressive/solid, and emotional/calm results accurate. So I got to thinking what I would be if the test botched *ALL* of my results. What would I be then? That would yield Technician as my result, as a Technician's bars are the polar opposite of a Barbarian's bars. Honestly, both descriptions fit me much better than a Barbarian. When I'm in an attacking state of mind, I can be a Magician. When I'm more cautious, I'm definitely a Technician. Other results that fit me better than a Barbarian are Genius, Natural (more on that later), and Romantic (which is probably the most accurate for me, as it can blend traits from both Magician and Technician). Speaking of Natural, I'm comparing 9:51 (video paused) with the general results, and it appears that aggressive/solid and emotional/calm have the same issue I had on intuitive/calculating. Maybe there's a glitch with being 100% one way or the other on each bar. If that's the case, I would definitely be a Magician, as intuitive/calculating was the only bar on my results that would be affected.

If there is a glitch regarding the bar wrapping around, then idk Why I am! My player comparison is Garry Kasparov (born 1963), thirteenth World Champion, typifies the chess style of a true Champion. A tireless worker, he brought opening preparation to a new level, often deeply analyzing openings far into the middlegame. Kasparov had unique understanding of dynamics and often showed that seemingly-surprising positional sacrifices were correct. From 1986 until his retirement in 2005 he was almost constantly the highest-rated player in the world, and he held the world championship title from 1985 until 2000 - so it is not surprising that his style was that of a Champion.
