I have been a dog man my whole life I've had dogs since I was old enough to remember four or five the best thing you can ever do to a dog when you're training them is praise them put your face right up to theirs tell them good boy kiss them on the face and nose and tell them good boy and when you don't like an attitude that they portray say no no no three times and raise your voice and that's generally all it takes. Thank you for your videos that are magnificent

I love your approach to training Toby, my family raised cattle dogs for years, and I always found that a stern word goes farther than a blow to the dog, and at the end of the day it only makes your dog afraid of you. In my personal experience training dogs I’ve always found it’s far easier to train a dog to start a new behavior than to stop a negative one. I used to have this one dog who would always lose his mind barking when we brought him food, and instead of scolding him for barking I trained him to go grab his favorite chew toy and bring it to me before I would give him his food so he couldn’t bark with the toy in his mouth, and he’d go right to eating after dropping it in my hand, I think you did an amazing job training Toby he’s an incredibly calm and competent guard dog
@kayleenfeher43414 жыл бұрын
Believe me, as someone who has a Great Pyrenees who is an indoor dog, they would much prefer to be outside, unless it is super hot out, then they love nothing more than to lay right under the vent for the AC. My guardian dog right now is to guard my grandchildren and the other dogs and myself. She does a wonderful job. :)
@audreyandlinCompany4 жыл бұрын
Toby's on his way to becoming a great work dog and friend thanks to you, Morgan. I appreciate the diligence you put into research and your own training to be a good dog owner. Often people get a dog or other animal and never think of how they have to control or change their own behavior. That makes it really hard for the animal to understand and learn. Considering this is your first "student," I'm sure it was difficult not to spoil him. I'm impressed with how Toby appears to be developing into a valuable asset. You deserve a "teacher (trainer) of the year" award!

My Molly is an Old English Sheepdog puppy and she's 6 months old. I'm still in the process of training her to behave with the ducks. The chickens she's fine, but the ducks get loud and start to run and fly away from her...then of course she chases. Work in progress, but these things don't happen overnight.
