As locals we don't like it either, on the mall restaurants at Colombia that's the one place where nobody wants to go, the food is overpriced, underseasoned and overall terrible. (Also, what's up with those curly fries? we Colombians never eat anything with curly fries or mash potatos like that) that place is terrible, has a bad rep, no one in their right mind would buy there. I am also a resident of south Florida like Guga and at my local mall there was a version of Cajun grill that was privately own called Cajun “cafe” grill and it was different from Kelly’s Cajun grill. It was 95% the same to kellys except that they had the best spicy chicken I’ve ever had in my life. It was unique to that Cajun grill and was completely different than Kelly’s spicy chicken. I had been eating there for over 20 years since I was a little kid because my mom would always buy it when ever she took me and other siblings to the mall and it stayed a staple for us until Covid happened and shut it down. A Kelly’s Cajun grill opened in its place years later but nothing beats those old Asian ladies who had been working there since I was a kid giving me bigger portions since they liked us and that incredible spicy chicken. I’m 29 now and soon to be 30 and I think about this spicy chicken all the time and I will never know the recipe :(. But! seeing guga enjoy that bourbon chicken from that Kelly’s Cajun grill did make me happy and feel a ton of nostalgia! I remember the flavor, taste, and texture of that chicken to this day and hope to be able to try it again one day.

Some context on the Colombian restaurant, Don Jediondo is a comedian and his restaurants aren't doing well, now about the food, I know I'm gonna take some heat for this but that's how we eat meat here, thin cuts cook to well done, most of the time salt is the only seasoning, some people add garlic powder or cook them with some onions, sometimes it's marinated in a mix of onions, garlic, peppers, etc so yeah, our stakes aren't good because people is too scared eat something different from well done or add more seasonings because of the "red fluid is blood" bullshit. Personally, Guga has been one of the reasons I started to be more daring eating meat and so far I have found it more enjoyable.

Back in high school, I had a Foods Teacher, and he told us that "If it looks good, it tastes better." You eat with your eyes first, nose second, mouth last. So if something looks good, it'll smell better, and should taste amazing. A lot of Mall food, fails these metrics and ends up being average at best, but often ends up being just bad. Even me who doesn't eat steak at all, knew that the steak Guga got was gonna be horrible, because it looked so terrible.

Before our local mall closed there was a little old korean woman (and every few times her husband) that sold real asian food. She had a few stples all americans knew from the fake chinese joints but if you wanted the good stuff you just asked for her daily special. The only time I've had really good food from a mall food court. I felt so bad for her after the mall closed. She tried to open a stand alone but it was a few months after. She couldn't get the word out and non of the local regs learned in time. I think she just gave up and retired.

Auntie Anne’s is the only food shop left in our mall. There is only a dozen stores left. It’s a ghost town.

There are several small, struggling malls in Southern Ohio. One has nothing left in the food court. The only eatery in the entire place is a pizza parlor by one of the doors. Very sad. When I was a kid half the fun of going to the mall was eating something a little different from the food court.

Sometimes the best pizza is in the food court. Richardson square mall in the dallas area had this amazing indipendent pizza spot that had amazing crust that I havent found since.

I don’t even know if our mall is open and if they have restaurants anymore. Back in the 80’s it was packed and hot Sam pretzels were the best. They were right next to the arcade. Hung out there a lot

I think indoor malls are dying here in the USA, but outdoor malls are still thriving.

I've never been to any of these places, but I rarely eat at a mall food court, only twice in my life. One was a mall version of a local cheesesteak place that I had eaten at several times and loved. The mall version was barely edible. I gotta' say that I've never heard of Ben's Pizza, so I don't thnk it is everywhere. Maybe Sbarro? (Not that I've ever had their pizza.)
