the music hitting different when you listening with no distractions is so real. i miss the act of sitting down to listen to music, like it's an activity, instead of it existing in the background of whatever i'm doing!

Right?!! You can literally feel the music so much more intensely!

The sad part about smartphones, laptops,etc is that we are so codependent on it even in a non addicted way. I noticed this especially in the creative field because things like film,music and drawing requires some form of digital mediums.

I feel the same way. I want to go on a digital detox but I don’t want to miss out on things like possible inspiration or some useful tips or tricks. But in the end it is more tiring than rewarding…

I agree with you as I do believe having all these devices or just technology in general can be very beneficial in helping us learn, connect, and create. I think the key is to find the balance really. As much as it allows us to discover great art, if we endlessly consume, and never take the time to sink in all the things we learn/do something about it, at the end day, it is easy to lose the sense of self in the noise. Thanks for sharing your thought:)

@@Vernonmartina I think having one day free of any devices is a good start! Then you can find what works for you. It is quite impossible to go many days without any digital devices really, but maybe you can try limit usage within a certain time range, or put your phone in a different room while you're working (which you might aware of, but they are called self-binding strategies as I read in Dr Lembke's book)

it's good to see you challenging yourself this way. the music part hit me, because when i did it i had to give up on music too. music became my ticket to far away anytime i needed to run. i don't remember why i did it, probably because my PC broke at the time, but i did for one week and was too dumb to register in any way. keep up with the good work. you are getting better at video making with every new video

working out without music is honestly so difficult! I actually went to the gym without my own music when I was filming this video, tbh it was a pain having to listen to the gym music... thank you for the kind comment, so happy to have you to witness my journey!!

I think something really helpful in cutting off the screen addiction is having something to replace it with that you actually value! You don't have to intentionally bore yourself all of the time, if you engage in more cognitive and energy-costly activities, you will naturally want to take breaks and get "bored" a little before starting again. Find something you want to pursue and are curious about, books you genuinely want to read, a language to learn, etc. Once you get hooked into these things, you will desire mindless activities less, and might be able to reintroduce screens as a tool to help you in those pursuits!

Also, no you're not sounding crazy or dramatic, it's normal and beautiful! With less distraction, your attention is actually able to engage a lot more with the music, writing, etc. Food might even start to taste better, too 🤍

Thanks for the advice! Sometimes I feel like we scroll not because it brings us any joy or happiness, we do it cos it's easy and so accessible. You're totally right, doing more of what we love or discovering new things can make time spent feel so much more worthwhile! 🤍

@@carasway_ Yes, I think that's exactly it, it's a kind of balance of enjoyment vs energy cost, and the cost for scrolling is almost zero... so we keep doing it if we're not mindful ;
