Back then I thought I would never have the courage to lose any weight and would be miserable forever. Thanks to you and others, I dug deep and found a part of me that's been missing for many years.

But this guest has really gone through some trauma and still has a lot to more to go on his journey to health and happiness. The editing at the end was beautiful, emotional, and I’ll probably be thinking about him for a long time. I really hope he finds balance after the competition. Thank you, Will, for always spotlighting other’s fitness journey in a respectful and positive manner. Even when you don’t agree with some of it and question him ❤

Not all extremes are equal though. You can be extremely talented or extremely inept. I can say one thing for certain though. It's easier to slow down exercising than it is to slow down the route you took to get severely obese. I've been on all three spectrums. From obese, to skinny, to muscular. The hardest ones to give up in order is obese>skinny>muscular. From an obese state, not eating your favorite things all the time almost felt like starvation. The hunger pangs were insane. The skinny state all it came down was mentality. You were just afraid to eat and if you ate, you'd bargain with yourself on what you can eat and what you'd have to not eat later on. The fit/muscular state, you'd have to fight against a lot of balance to maintain that physicality. From food, to water intake, to physical activities. It is the most draining to maintain therefore the most easy to give up. The other two previous ones had to do one thing, it's either you eat or you don't for the most part. If I had to pick one thing to be addicted to, it's the one that lets me save the ones closest to me from immediate danger. I can tell you being obese or very skinny doesn't let you do a whole lot of saving in any scenarios.

Which is insulin like substance that increases growth hormone, basically a steroid. Do not try to replicate what this man does. I see this more as a warning video than motivation. The last video will posted on this was a great motivation to my wife who was approaching 80 lb lost just by exercise and diet moderation. She didn't have to change her whole life, she didn't have to stop working or making drastic diet changes. Just exercise and diet moderation and dedication. We are now approaching the year mark and she is 95 lb down. No drugs. No extremes. Just a small life adjustment with diet and exercise. My experience is pretty similar as well. I started at 230 lbs 35% body fat. I'm currently at 189 LBS 26% body fat. 100% natty. There are healthier ways to do things... I hope he's seeing a therapist so he doesn't get hit with a major rebound....

I lost 150lb in a year and a half without a $300 a week in grocery bills and without ingesting a mini pharmacy every morning. I'm happy for this man, the net result is he has transformed his body, but im not so sure he is any healthier now than he was before. I feel a lot of concern toward him. His food addiction hasn't gone away. He has just shifted the addiction in another direction. I also don't know that he's a great inspiration for people. He has wealthy parents who pay for his lifestyle. This isn't realistic for most people. Props to him for admitting it and owning it, but the way he's achieving this weight loss isn't in a way that 90% of overweight people would be able to replicate. Again, im super happy for him and proud of him for his hard work, but idk about being able to take any inspiration from all this madness.

losing weight is often started with a goal in mind. "look good this summer in a bikini", "be able to wear this dress", "compete in a bodybuilding competition" for example, and something you learn through the process is how it was never about the end goal. the goal NEVER ends, just has health does, it has to be maintained. I discovered through weight loss that my health increase mattered so much more to me than what my body looked like, and let's be honest, we kind of always find something about our body we don't like. I was proud of myself for dropping the weight I so desperately wanted to lose, but nothing could've prepared me for the things I learned throughout the journey about myself. It's not as dramatic as it sounds lmao.just some simple happiness made a huge difference, maybe the happiness was centered around my size, but it didn't matter. I was happier, and that slowly become my new goal. whatever this feeling was that the journey gave me I wanted to keep. it's not even about my appearance at all, I just wanted that feeling to stay around. feeling good about achieving a goal, feeling confident, appreciating myself for all I am. including in my body & mind, and feeling whole & like I had a purpose, I want that feeling forever & that isn't dictated by the scale or the mirror.

Psychotherapist here - I see alot of comments being critical at the extreme nature of this mans weight loss. Some even laughing at him. Whilst I'm no doctor and cannot comment on the stack this man is taking, he says it himself around 20:00 that he is not healing his trauma whilst doing this. Its clear hes being driven by shame and he has an awareness that his 'tunnel vision' is actually a way of keeping the trauma at bay and if he loses the comp he doesnt quite know what he'll do... Saying all this it is undeniable that he has focused on a goal and got some results. We're all doing the best we can and my hope is he learns about the pitfalls of being this militant and obsessive with diet and exercise (im sure he will). The good news is its easier to be less militant than it is to be more so. I wish him well! Also the video is about following the most extreme diet - definitely not an endorsement folks!

Can he claim natural? OFC NOT I won't suggest anyone to take what he's taking but I understand the point of doing so in order to get in shape, I hope he doens't keep with this routine and maybe falls into real steroids territory.

If Simon put half the same focus and effort he puts into his training and diet, into his mental well-being, and letting go of the past issues - he would be an absolute beast in so many ways. He seems like a genuinely good bloke and I truly hope that he finds a good balance for everything important in his life.

He's doing the "if my bloodwork is good, I'm healthy" shtick. I see so many people in fitness do it lately, as if bloodwork is the end all be all of health. You can have cancer and be dying and your bloodwork will be good for quite a while. And enlarged heart doesn't show on bloodwork anyway.

I lost 150 pounds, it took two years. Down from 500 to 350. Then spent a year weight lifting. Gained a lot of muscle, lost some measurable inches of fat, but maintained 350 pounds. I'd like to drop another 100 pounds, but I also want to maintain my new muscle gain. It's not easy.

You will maintain the muscle easily at that weight. Even when in deficit, your body has plenty of fat to burn for energy. Don't be afraid to do -500 kcal per day.

In addition to what Davor said, remember that once you gain muscle the first time, it’s much easier to gain back in the future, so even if you do lose muscle in a calorie deficit, once you get to a place where you’re happy getting back to maintenance or a surplus, that muscle will come back much quicker. Edit: forgot to mention also, it’ll be way easier on your joints long term to focus more on the weight loss in this stage of your journey, and then really lean into the weight training later on
