For the last year, this has been my favorite skincare brand... until I got into K-beauty 😆 I think this brand is underrated and that this review was fair based on trying most of the products Alice has tried. I have oily skin and I live in a dry climate -- I was relieved that someone else agreed with me that the eye cream is NOT moisturizing enough! I wanted to like it but didn't. Slushy also surprised me and my favorite way to use it was with retinol. Since Alice had a bad reaction to the vitamin C serum, here is my take - I have purchased the vitamin C serum 3 times! I regret getting it for the 3rd time, only because skincare fatigue. I think it's gentle, effective, hydrating, elegantly formulated, and kind of basic sometimes. Never oxidized for me. This is my favorite vitamin C I've tried so far. Ironically, I used to always react and think my skin didn't like vitamin C until I tried this serum. The Face Glaze is totally NOT a moisturizer 😂 They need to change their marketing on that one. I tried the bronze one in the summer and I loved it. Same exact texture as the original. I don't like looking tan in the winter so it's best for summer IMO! It's natural (for my pale olive skin) and concentrated so you can add as much or as little depending on the look you're going for.

One other thing about glass packaging is it is much heavier and thus creates more carbon emissions to transport from packaging distributor to the facility where the packages are filled to distributors. I believe Lab Muffin had a video on her channel about sustainable beauty and she discussed how glass is potentially worse for the environment due to this. I didn’t even consider this but when I’ve picked up glass bottles with that in mind, I started to understand.

I couldn’t cope with the scent of lactic acid body products. I’ve tried them for years. I highly recommend the new Naturium body cream with 10% glycolic acid. It’s surprisingly elegant for a body product and no lactic acid smell. Plus it’s $16 for an 8oz tube!

for the glass vs plastic: glass is heavier so in terms of transportaition glass is worse. Labmuffin did a collab video about it. I took away that me not tolerating extracts well is mostly good in terms of enviorment (synthetic ingredients are for the most part better for the enviorment particularly when we are talking about more rare extracts and oils. But something more commonly use like liqorice root has actually also become a problem).

I’ll have to look up her video! It definitely seems to be a more nuanced topic. I suspect each has pros/cons (with the best option being: produce less product - goodness especially the brands that go straight to landfills, looking at nobody-asked-for-this celebrity brands!)

The problem with glass packaging is that it’s heavier than plastic, causing more transportation emissions - amongst other issues. Because of this, it’s not necessarily more sustainable than plastic. Sustainability really boils down to limiting consumption, which is the same thing “sustainable” companies often leave out.

Alice! Hi! I can say personally for me that oregano + tea tree oil has been amazing as a spot treatment (especially for blind pimples) heavily diluted of course in a tbsp of carrier because it is very strong! it will burn! one drop is all I need! But I’m not sure about the claim of being more effective than BPO 😬clinical research is needed. That slushy looks nice! Meadowfoam seed oil is really underrated and should be included in everything lol imo I’m obsessed and derms actually love it for acne. This is random: but I rub diluted thyme oil all over my back and chest when I’m coughing a lot and do the hot/cold therapy.. it’s a miracle worker! I am not crazy about the smell, but I love the results!
@AliceintheRabbitHole9 ай бұрын
I believe it, and yup a big part is heavily diluting that. I suspect this is a big part of why you’ll see a lot of derms steer people away from EOs: they can have benefits for sure, but it’s very, very easy to overdo them!

Great video as usual! I had a similar experience with the eye cream. For the first time ever I feel like an eye cream is not enough (I don’t have dry skin). I’ve been using it for the sake of finishing it (I know!) and every single time I feel I have to “tame” it to make it look decent under makeup.

Hi Alice, although I like your try on clip, the strong exfoliant and essential oil in the brand is not for me. Although the lip oil is a nice addition of moisture based lip balm, I may try out if there is a sale... 😊 Benzoyl peroxide is still the best if active acne breakout is looming...

I've had my eye on iNNBeauty (is that right?) for awhile. The packaging is memorable and I liked the sound of the slushy and the moisturizer especially. Based on your review I think I'd like to try the Slushy serum and maybe the Bright & Tight eye cream. I've been recently really liking hydrating serums after years of eschewing them (because my skin's too dry, they're never gonna be enough, etc., etc....kinda like what you said). But then I discovered that sandwiching my tret works so, so well for my super dry skin, and nice serums are great for that first layer. This wasnt anything you mentioned but have you ever tried the Sunday Riley Ice moisturizer? I never would've bought it but it was gifted to me and I'm trying it out. So far I'm kinda impressed! I tend to not love SR products. Still not sure if I'll buy it again though. Another one I was gifted that I LOVE is Fresh's Black Tea Corset Cream. Imagine my shock when I loved it! It's thick and hydrating for my dry skin without even needing an extra serum or oil, and maybe its the placebo effect but I think I really am feeling that it's ever-so-slightly having a smoothing, tightening effect. But not in an annoying/tight way? If that makes sense? Anyway, only problem is this stuff is $95 for 1.7 oz so I highly doubt I'll repurchase. But I do love it! Well, on to continue my video catch-up! 😂
@AliceintheRabbitHole9 ай бұрын
Haha you just named two products that I really enjoyed using, but did not bother repurchasing! Ice was so nice (heh), and somehow I even did like the smell lol, but at the end of my jar, I didn’t think it did more for my skin than other ceramide products. Oh if you’re interested in Innbeauty (wait you’re right, iNNBeauty!), their website has a mystery box which per their email seems it will include a lip oil, slushy, and bright & tight/face glaze. Pretty good deal as long as those spoilers are correct. I’ll get an IG post up to share that email!

I have sensitive skin + severe scent sensitivity and 95% of skincare/ body have so much fragrance added that I will get burned or get migraines. A few days ago I ordered off Amazon some well known brandl shampoo and conditionet and it's smell was so overpowering once hot water was exposed to it that I nearly choked in the shower. But bonus, anywhere that the shampoo rinsed out and touched my body, it burned me and I got hives. I am not adverse to all fragrance but for the Love of Pickles, does it need to be that strong? More products need to come out with unscented options. Better yet, put the level of fragrance/scent added on the label. Then those that prefer to bath and gagging worth of perfume and no soap, can have theirs products and we can have ours.

I find the acne serum interesting. So, for me, as an oily/borderline “normal”-acne-prone skin type, I find benzoyl peroxide is a must for active breakouts, but SA is good for me for preventing breakouts. But active breakouts? It’s so-so. It’s fine, but not a must. (And my tret is #1, but I digress)

@AliceintheRabbitHole9 ай бұрын
Id say to think of it like baking cookies Your list of supplies needed = skincare ingredients The directions for how to bake those cookies = formulation Cosmetic chemists actually do need to go in a certain order when working with the ingredients, the correct amounts, and of course the whole idea behind a product (why certain combinations were chosen) = the formulation Does that help?
