IBS GANG GANG! Be careful with that fiber, y’all. What helps me: drinking water, walking/jumping exercises (jump rope, trampoline), eating fermented food (but I hate it so much), IF for gut rest, laying on my left side, having a non-me person rub/massage my stomach, low allium diet. Editing to add a couple more things that help me with IBS symptoms/flares: enteric coated peppermint/peppermint tea, yoga/stretching. Be gracious with yourself, make the best choices you can and don’t guilt trip yourself that they aren’t the gold standard. Spinach and romaine instead of kale, steamed white rice instead of brown rice, etc.

IBS GANG! Honestly the biggest things that have helped me are drinking water, stretching, and IF, but I have to take breaks from IF every so often because I have like no hunger cues and forget to eat half the time so I'll accidentally go like two or three days without eating. Liquid nutrition is a life-saver, honestly.

I actually am a big fan of the chia seed water thing. (not for any health benefits, literally just because I enjoy the variety in my water) I saw Pick Up Limes do it and was intrigued. I make sure there's lots of ice, fresh lemon/lime slices and use a straw so you don't get big clumps of chia at once.

Does someone else struggle with extreme bloating when eating too little/going too loong between meals? For me, my bloating is insane always when I've gone 6+ hours or so without eating and lasts till the next day. If I have been in a deficit, the bloating can last several days. Need help!
@Николь222 жыл бұрын
I also experienced that a few days ago. What i found out about this in the internet, is that this can happen because your stomach is searching for something to digest. But because you don’t eat, your body instead creates gas that leads to bloat.

I love the gut health focus that we’ve had lately, and I think it’s headed a little more in the right direction. However, people aren’t taking bio individuality into account, and you can actually make your digestion worse if you don’t have the correct microbes to digest something properly. I have been using Viome since March, and it caters to your individual microbiome. You get dietary recommendations based on what’s in your gut, and I think that’s a way better approach than just eating stuff that people tell you anecdotally worked for them. Like I literally just saw a video about what foods you should incorporate into your diet for fall, and one of them is brussel sprouts. But according to my Viome, brussel sprouts are not a food I should be eating right now. I just recently got the results back from my second Viome test, and my gut health has improved significantly by following its recommendations. I have my own personal superfoods that I’m meant to eat often, and I feel so much better when I do! But just taking a stab in the dark is not the way.

Great tips! People we should remember that the composition of our gut microbiome is related to the way we were born, where we live and with whom we live. 1.If your parents didn't eat chia then maybe it's not the best for you ( the benefit you have from it compared to the price you pay is a waste). Also if you live with them probably the foods that they eat are going to reflect on you gut health too. 2.Oats are best if you prepare them with a small amount of water on low heat ( for each spoon of oats add 3 spoons of water )so that they get a type of slimy texture ( that's what helps with constipation and gut leaks). 3. Olive oil is great if you are going out for a drink and if you don't consume good fats. 4. Fasting- fasting will flush some of your gut bacteria out and by the next day it will be replenished and balanced again. It's recommended to postpone or skip a meal every once in a while. But ofc in general our system loves the routines.

"There is no science to weight gain or weight loss directly linked to the time you eat..." I'd have to disagree. Calories in vs calories out, yes, the ultimate equation for weight balance. But hormones control a large variation in what we do with calories (burn or store). Melatonin, released in the evening, causes insulin resistance. This means you will be primed to store carbohydrates in the evening instead of burning them. Also, if you eat too close to bedtime, it will disrupt your sleep quality. Poor sleep = insulin resistance, causing carbohydrate cravings while simultaneously making you poorer at burning carbohydrates. Recipe for weight gain. We need to honor our circadian rhythm if we want to thrive.
@KeltieOConnor2 жыл бұрын
True about the bad sleep! Can’t deny how much that effects our bodies. I should’ve been more descriptive there. Meant more in a generak calories in/out like you said. Agree 100% with you that when you’re talking details there’s some influence
@silverhiver2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Cals in/out is such an oversimplification in terms of advice for the general population when it's used in isolation from how hormones impact behaviour. Fitness professionals should really strive to optimise their client's ability to adhere to a certain energy intake by looking at the body as a system as opposed to just prescribing a number of calories. Real gap there in the industry. Probably an issue of education
@JZ-xu3vg2 жыл бұрын
Its not medically relevant but it is medically relevant. some think of calories collected over the entire week some think about macros daily. but assuming you lift and do 30- 1hr of cardio a day and get a good breakfast. you put your body in the best state to do work during the day. you wont be tire and your basal metabolic rate will be higher. In contrast if you binge eat or get all your cals at night you will be turning that into fat. It doesnt take long for your body to turn carbs and fats into storage, it works VERY well. Plus apparently you shouldn't 4 hours before bedtime but idk why. waking up in the fasted state however does help with endocrine system and other biomolecules like insulin and cortisol.

Where do you get your kumbucha?
@hilary3219 Жыл бұрын
Ngl tried Kombucha and I have a very strong sense of taste and smell - it tastes okay-ish but smells awful, so I'd rather eat fermented.

Does anyone know what the recommendation is for meal timing? She didn't say
@KeltieOConnor2 жыл бұрын
Just being consistent! So eating your breakfast, lunch, dinner at the same time everyday. Whatever time works best for your schedule, energy, and hunger cues ☺️

To anyone who's reading this: You are strong. You are beautiful. You are powerful. Remind yourself that working out is not a punishment for what you ate, but a celebration of what your body can do! I hope you have a fantastic day :))
