So, I think the coolest part of this whole experience may not be just the fish catch itself but that notch on your net. Now every time you pick up that net you get to remember one of the most unique experiences any angler has had. Congrats man, I genuinely am happy for you.

Great channel, great content, and as others have pointed out, just some gorgeous footage. That little creek was like crystal. I've watched you lose enough fish that I start clenching my teeth, making fists, and shifting in my chair. Thanks for taking me fishing. Watching someone being joyful about what they are doing is infectious.

Those trout are beautiful and you're video quality, music, cutscenes and overlay were a slam dunk. Idk how far you had to drive over the river to get to that creek but it was worth it. You drive past my hometown everytime u do as well.

Loved the video man. Nothing like winter fishing. It’s often my favorite time of year to fish. In Colorado where I live there are flowing rivers that never freeze over. The Trout fishing is amazing all year long. I used to use Rapala Count Down jerk baits like the one you used in the video before going all in on fly fishing. A word of advice that will help you loose less lures, and allow easy release of those rare beauties. Barbless hooks. Take the barbs off this hooks with pliers or replace them completely. Easy release, and less snags. 💯

Beautiful fish! My most exciting catch was a little Scottish brown trout in the river that ran past my village. I have caught many larger fish over the years, but that first brown trout will stay with me forever. I released him quickly to avoid stress to the fish and I was the happiest guy on the planet. Your video reminded me of that perfect day. Thank you so much for that. Best wishes from Scotland 🙏🏻😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Good job on the trout Nick. I'm originally from central Montana and know some places where you can find some of them 19 inch bows. I grew up on trout fishing with a willow pole in Montana. Mom would take to he creek and cut us some willows and tie some leader on the end. We flipped cow pie's to find worms or we caught grasshoppers for bait, and we always brought a mess of fish home. I live in western Oregon now right on the Santiam River. Not to many trout left in there due to getting eaten by the Steelhead. Pretty much just like fishing little creeks with a small rod now and don't fish the river much. Tell us more about the fish you are catching. Give us a "schoolen" so to speak... "Fish on" bro, you will go far pilgrim...

Nice fishing there nick, I have to say I'm always surprised at how low you have the rod tip and short line when trying to net them. Also, I was taught to have the net in the water ready to avoid splashing it into the water right in front of the fish, a great way to spook them I was told. I know you catch plenty so it works for you, but I,m always holding my breath! 🙈

Hey Nick - I always appreciate your videos; both content and production. I love how you integrate the actual experience and your personal reaction with the quality of video/audio. Without giving away your spots, as a fisherman myself, I would love to see just a brief overhead look of at least the stretch of river or rough overview of the lake/pond you are fishing - especially if they are public water. Maybe something like a Google Earth view or even just a topographic digital map. Nerds like me enjoy understanding the lay of the land where fish are found. Thanks again - CHEERS!

Good to see its not just me that still slams the lure straight down into the water occasionally.. broken the tails off a couple of lures with semi soft fins that way when it's really cold and they start getting brittle, especially bad when you're giving it full whack for distance casting a heavy glider

I have watched fishing videos from 5 or 6 content creators and I have to say Nick, your cinematography and editing skills are absolutely the best! Phenomenal job with little the travel shots and atmospheric shots between catches. The occasional overhead drone footage is great as well. Mix in your backing music and all I can say is kudos my friend! And your enthusiasm- even in the worst of conditions (or when the fish aren't biting) is contagious. I'm a third rate fisherman who just started dabbling again after a 35 yr hiatus and I watch your videos and just cannot wait til I can hit the water again. Well done, Sir. Well done indeed!

Dude, you need to come to Idaho. I've caught fish much bigger than that in creeks and irrigation ditches you can hop over. Don't be surprised by big fish in small waters. That said, it might be great for Missouri, glad you had fun. I currently work at a golf course with a private pond where most fish I catch are over 14 inches, and in the past two months we've had two 7 pounders and a 9.5 pounder come out of our lake. I caught a 5 pounder on the 18th tee box which overlooks the Snake River. Went out there yesterday and two sturgeon about 3 feet long were right below me.

You know what actually works pretty well at times? Get about 2 feet of tippet and tie on a fly and drop it behind a spinner. Sometimes trout are attracted to spinners but don’t quite commit. That’s where the dropper fly comes into place. Trout get attracted to the spinner but aren’t quite aggressive enough to strike, but then they see the fly behind it and take it. You should try it man!
