This story is so uplifting. Both OP and Silvia showed practical caring love before they realised that they had both developed romantic love. It is a case of because they were building each other up they each were built. Both come across as caring responsible people. Once they confessed their love for each other. They grew together almost instantly. Their family came together because it was just right. OP and Silvia come across as being like soul mates. I hope and pray for a long and fruitful loving future for the family.

Cautionary Tale for those who are falling into drug addiction. You may lose everything to the point that your loved ones just move on without you like you actually died. The ex is essentially dead to her children and that is entirely her fault. I hope she doesn't get some kind of motherly need in the future to demand contact with her kids. She abandoned them and coming back into their lives now that they've got a stable family life again is just cruel and selfish.

@@lunaticbz3594 there actually was a story on reddit recently where a dude died. The OP of the story was his brother who hadn't known the guy's fiancee very well because he lived out of state. A couple of years in, the OP and the fiancée started connecting more over their shared grief for the guy and one day, did the deed. She got pregnant by him shortly after and the family was NOT happy. @@indianspartan76 Circumstance depending, their might not be a logical moral issue. But marrying your brothers widow is covered in the bible with rules for if / how it should happen. Story 1, has got me weeping. I don't usually cry happy or sad tears for others, but this is so nice. Not finished listening, so hope it stays happy The ex cheated and ran off, yet she tried to gaslight by asking if OP had feelings for her sister while they were married . Typical for a cheater or a druggie, trying to make someone else look bad to get the attention off them.

I am totally on OP and Sylvia's side. This is one of my favorite stories on Reddit, but I could see the question not as gaslighting but a legit suspicion on the heals of just finding out about the relationship. I still hope she doesn't interfere with the new happy family.

@@brenttaylor8907 it sounds like you have never been cheated on, which is awesome. @@acatnamedtaz2167 I am sorry to hear about your experience of being cheated on. You raise some good points, and I have seen or heard stories matching your experience but you might be projecting your experience on this story. The ex did not accuse him of cheating on her with her sister. She just asked if he had feelings for her sister when they were married. Maybe she would "go there" faster because she was a cheater but I still think a normal person would wonder if feelings or attraction not acted on were already there in the face of unexpected news that they were in a relationship now. The ex let it go and didn't push it so I still don't think it meets the threshold of gaslighting. I wish you well.

1: This is just so sweet and sad and sweet and I want to hug everyone. I also don't really have any advice either except to *talk to her.* The closest to this in my family is in the extended family on Dad's side. I'm so happy to hear that things are progressing will with this family. OP, keep doing what you're doing cause it's working. As for the potential of your ex wanting to see the kids in the future, best thing you can do is have a lawyer at the ready just in case and don't make any decisions without talking to your kids first, ESPECIALLY your son. Your son is definitely old enough at this point where a judge will take his opinion into consideration when it comes to visitation rights.

In regards to approaching a widow/widower, first you need to sit down and think about if you're okay not being their only love. Because unless they were on the verge of divorce before the death, they still love their previous spouse and always will. If you have a problem with that whole concept, then you need to stop before you begin. Them still loving someone else who is not here doesn't make them off limits, but some people get possessive or competitive and can't deal with it. Beyond that, I'd say sit down some time and talk to them. Do it gently, and, as this is a family member of sorts, promise to back off if they tell you no. But express that she awakens longings in you for the life you imagined long ago, and that you'd like to try dating if she's willing to try and interested. Also, as there are subconcious biological and chemical factors in attraction, it's not odd to find yourself attracted to a spouse's sibling. This is also why a lot of people end up dating their sibling's friends.

Ask her if it’s been like that for her too. Lol, “she’s got 2 hands”, necklace always seems the good way to go. Fine line to honor the love and be able to move also. No spouse who truly loved their SO would want them to be lonely for the rest of their lives. Good luck, your blended family and love for each other is fantastic. I even hope the ex stays clean and can have a family of her own. I have a little experience with drugs in the family. My nephew final got clean, got a good job and years later a wife and kid. Decided one day to get high and got a bad batch of fentanyl and OD. Staying clean is a life long struggle.

OP, blessings to you and your new family. A bit of advice regarding letting your ex see your kids. Find a good family therapist, and take your son along with Sylvia. Discuss it with your son. He has every right to some pretty negative feelings, and he shouldn't be forced to see the ex if he doesn't want to. His feelings should count for a lot more than her wishes, mother or not. If he were to see her, it could cause some real confusion and feelings of divided loyalty. I'd think your main job as a father would be to protect his best interests, however that were to play out. If the ex were to sue for visitation, you could take the therapists findings to court to present to the judge. Best to all of you.

Recognised the kids how they call their parents. When I introduce my dad as dad to someone else and then call him his nickname I have for him, yeah people do look a bit confused.

This is so beautiful! Sounds like the plot of a Colleen Hoover novel in real life!

Hey can you take care of yourself? Just do one small thing that will make yourself happy. And if you feel like you can do more, please stretch, drink some water, and eat something. You matter so much. I send all the virtual love. 💜💜🤗🤗💜💜🤗🤗
