+Virgoline What was bad about it? (Not including the bit about the sand)
@joemallery60108 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Whittaker (PerfectBeef1) the sand is one of the larger problems, but one of the others is his use of lamps. Leopard geckos have sensitive eyes and some albinos can get burnt from hot lights

You shouldn't use a light for a leopard gecko, at all. Their eyes are really sensitive to light, so it just hurts their eyes and stresses them out. I had a light on mine when I got her for awhile. She wouldn't ever come out of her hide when it was on her. Literally as soon as I switched to a under tank heater, she started coming out and exploring and became alot happier. Plus you honestly don't have to replace an under tank heater hardly ever, but you'd have to replace the heat lamp's light bulb fairly often.
@poof84217 жыл бұрын
Lillith Parker Because you probarly have your light 24/7 on
@evatamcsin52766 жыл бұрын
First, that's not true. Only the Raptor morph of Leopard Geckos are sensitive to light as their red eyes are reflective. Second, stop trying to act like your sooo smart because it is SUPER annoying when people try to act like they know it all. Nobody likes a know-it-all. That's not the way you get attention.
@aaadindon42576 жыл бұрын
They need light to know when to wake up I swear. Like a soft light just to let them know when it’s night and day. I’m probably wrong 😂
@Lxmonzist5 жыл бұрын
Eva Tamcsin keep your panties on they were giving helpful critique Jesus people these days. No one likes people like you plus th wry have sensitive skin it affects all I don't know where you got that raptor morph fact but sorry to burst your bubble 'know it all' but that's not true it affects all Leo's not just raptor morph.

Great explaining on what they need. Sounds simple enough to care for them. I have the powder, I have turtles at the moment and I can't use the powder for them, so I have to spray their food. I could use the powder for a gecko then. I wouldn't have to throw it out.

Please do not use this advice. It is very bad. They live no where near sand. They live on hard packed dirt but mostly rock. It is VERY bad for them and is fatal. Heat lamps stress them out. Heating mats are best. Please do what's for these animals and do not own them if you can't properly care for them. Many scientists and vets who really care about these animals have proved it. If you were going to be shut up in a small box wouldn't you at least want proper care? Not half ass. I'm sick of people commenting about inadequate care for these animals, you are only making a fool out of yourself. If you claim to be a professional than actually properly care for these animals. There is literally no argument! Facts are facts!

@riadgani3168 жыл бұрын
+Virgoline +Riley Corkery most members of the Eublepharidae family dwell upon dry temperate zones, and are allowed to do so by "adaptations". The evolutionary origins of this family said to have had their most regulated allostasis in areas around 30 degrees North latitude. Majority of its' derived genus are situated in south-western Asia (Middle-East). These are deserts.

What thermostat you said you use? I am looking for a good one to control heating from heat mats for my dubia roach farm. I have a microclimate on/off, it does work to a certain extent but I need something constant without disturbing the surface temperature so much.
@nasirbanks524810 жыл бұрын
In my opinion because I am an experienced lizard owner of course I currently don't have one. but the best thing in my opinion is reptile carpet but if u do use sand like he said make sure it is fine (very thin) grains of sand.
@dodie30536 жыл бұрын
It is still bad be safe than sorry

what about fine calcium sand or if that still not good?
@j1234565811 жыл бұрын
yes
@carabencivenga273811 жыл бұрын
Reptile Carpet is fine for leos (that's what I keep mine on). It is possible for the reptile carpet to become a little stringy so if you see your gecko trying to walk and it gets it's foot caught in the strings, that's a good indication to take that one out and get a new one. I also noticed with my carpet that one side of it isn't as stringy as the other so you could flip it over too. :) Hope that helped!

2 things. 1. Can I use a heat lamp with tile without having a heat mat? The heat lamp should heat up the tile so it's still warm from the bottom even when the light is off. 2. Can I use tile for a Ball Python? I want to know because tile is easy to clean & looks good. I don't have a Ball Python but I'm planning on getting one so I want to know if I can use tile.
@fionashepley4787 жыл бұрын
No, you'll still need a heat mat. I'd use aspen bedding for a snake so he can burrow. I have a corn snake (not the same snake, I know, but to my knowledge aspen is great for all types of snakes).

If i get the pad like mentioned, is it supposed to stay on all day every day? Even at night? Do you tone the heat down at all when it hits night time? I don't want to mess up the temperature for the animal.

Would regular terrarium liner work? Also do they have any preference as to where they would like a tank (such as a high place or low place) or does that matter? I'm hoping to breeding geckos in the future!
@DragonDude69810 жыл бұрын
well you don't want a tall tank if they fall they can get hurt badly . for the terrarium liner I don't know what that is but if its for a substrate just use repti carpet or paper towel
