The shocking thing is that, do to the thermostat location, it's a 730.00 repair. The mechanic told me that this year, they've seen a lot of this thermostat problem on this particular GM engine. He said they're seeing it every week. He also told me the stop switch is failing. People stop at a light, the engine shuts off, and car doesn't restart, leaving people stranded. I always shut mine off before driving. He said that doing that eliminates the problem. Please address this on a video. Thanks.

Scotty: My gf's plastic facia on her 2007 bumper got snagged on a parking bollard. No other people involved. So no insurance claim because it's so old and high miles we just carry liability and total replacement. Living honestly means living on the edge on a budget. Well I bought some color matching masking tape to patch it together a while. Until the tape started flapping and people giving us 'those thugs!' looks for our flapping tape bumper. I ended up removing it and glassing it, painting it etc. The $400 for the new primed replacement facia still would require taking it to a body shop. If we took it to a body shop to do the whole job, it was $1300. The car has 205,000 miles on it and only worth $1800 retail. Trade-in probably they take it directly to pull a part. But it still runs great. 2.0 Ford 4 banger 30mpg. So I rattle canned a close match, now it's slightly different shade, looks like every car on craigslist now LOL! It was an ordeal and massive time lost. It might have only cost $90 in materials, but on a budget, you do things wealthy people never have to contemplate. Not adding to landfills or more carbon waste on brand new cars does give some satisfaction. But the billionaires aren't paying us to be pragmatic. Wall Street and K Street in a very unnatural relationship. Blow up Dollies and Boys putting things in smelly places.

Hi Scotty, there is another way to put out the battery fires that is quicker, more portable and cost less. They use a fiberglass blanket to cover the whole car, then mist the outside of the blanket to cool it. The blanket smothers the fire and the blanket does not burn. It takes 10% of the water and takes hours instead of days to put out.

@@林振华-t4vYes, of course they are the same. 🤣🤣 They are made for airplanes and similar situations.... High Speed Tape, also known as HST , is an adhesive tape specifically designed for aviation applications. It can withstand fire, moisture, speeds of up to 800 km/h (497 mi/h), tensions of up to 49 N/cm, and temperatures ranging from -54ºC (-65.2°F) to 149ºC (300°F). This remarkable tape can even withstand severe storms, Speed tape has a significantly stronger adhesion and is thicker than duct tape. This makes it easier for it to maintain contact with the aircraft while it is in flight. Another characteristic of speed tape is its high heat resistance up to 300 °F. With its ability to reflect UV light, resist moisture and solvents, hold up in strong wings, and support multiple applications.

I miss his videos of past years, where he was more evidence-based. He trashes Teslas and EVs for catching fire in a crash? Non-EVs catch fire more than *20 times as often per 10,000 vehicles!* And when gasoline-powered vehicles catch fire, the gasoline often flows along the ground in a fiery river, spreading the fire to other vehicles (etc), even if they are farther away. He should report on vehicle fires proportionally - tell us about 20 ICE vehicle fires for every one EV fire.

They could make a hybrid that went 250 miles on EV right now if they wanted to, but there is no market for that, it would be much more expensive. The battery cost quadruples compared to a hybrid with 50 miles of EV range. The idea is to have enough EV range to cover the vast majority of your daily travel, which I believe is 30 miles per day for the average American. I think most buyers believe there is a sweet spot to just how much battery you actually need in a hybrid, very few people do hundreds of miles consistently every day so there is no point in paying for that much range.
@richlee137412 күн бұрын
They could but there are issues with cost, weight and space for a large enough battery pack. The Range Rover PHEV does about 51 mi as an EV and its max'ed out the battery size in terms of packaging, costs a fortune and weighs about 3 tonnes. They need to commercialize a lighter, more energy dense battery.

Electric cars can plug into a regular household outlet. They don't need a fancy charging station. Just plug it in every time you come home, takes 15 seconds... and you'll always have a full charge. Unlike a gasoline car where you have to spend time going to the gas station and paying them. People at my work plug their Teslas just into the random outlets located around the parking garage on some of the walls and support columns... so they pay ZERO to get around. It's not hard to find a random electrical outlet... I've never ever heard of people getting free gasoline. Electrical cars save time. Look it up... In 2021, 52% of all trips, including all modes of transportation, were less than three miles, with 28% of trips less than one mile. Just 2% of all trips were greater than 50 miles... People don't just drive across the country on a random Sunday afternoon, most trips are not far. Come home plug it in, next time you drive it'll be full. Never again worry "Do i have gas? Am I going to be late if I stop at the gas station?"

another thing they discovered in Toronto is that electronic doors do not open in a fire. Is Musk really such a genius?

Just like the legendary Lexus LS 400 copied the Mercedes w126 and the Lexus LS 430 copied the Mercedes W140

Wow. Time will tell Scotty. My Chevy duramax goes nearly 630 miles. Of course on diesel. Safer larger and gets decent mileage. 😅

I remember Poles saying you should have a bucket of sand for fire fighting. Finally the anglosphere discovered sand.
