I played an additional 21 hours of Nightingale since my first impressions video and in this video I discuss what I was right and what I was wrong about Nightingale.

Just making this clear, I’m not saying this to say you’re wrong or invalidate your argument. However, as someone that’s 35 hours in with a gear score of 268 with the best available tools, I can tell you that upgrading tools from blue tier to purple tier (the highest tier) makes their power level jump for about 100. So if you had a level 130 blue axe, which you can get really easily by simply finishing the main quest line and reaching endgame (which I’m not going to spoil, and upgrade it to purple, you’d have that level 230. I really get and understand what you’re saying, and I definitely don’t think this game is for everyone, but it’s also not as bad as you’re making it sound, and I really like the way it is now.

I find the core of this game to be really solid. The systems all seem like intentional attempts to evolve systems from other popular survival crafting games. Everything needs work to smooth out. If this game improves as much as Grounded did in it's early access I think it will be a VERY solid entry. I think the portal/realm/card system is very very promising. Minor cards can be really fun.

Never really felt like I had to spent a lot of time getting essence, 70+ hours in. Puzzles also not always the same but def similar too. Mostly spent a lot of time hunting fabled creatures for nice hide and seems to be a pain to get T3 fiber though

Higher level = more essence I was wondering how so many people were already in the end game grinding top level gear and it turns out that the higher difficulty you play on the more essence you get. So that 400 essence you got for grinding an entire realm? You can get that at one POI by playing on Extreme. And considering the braindead nature of the enemy’s, cranking it up to at least hard isn’t a problem at all. To be clear, I agree with all of your criticisms of the game, mainly because I’ve also been playing at medium difficulty and ignoring the difficulty modifier when opening realms too. But once you crank that difficulty up and you’re getting far, far more essence at each POI, that empty grind goes by much faster.

I was told, difficulty does not change the amount of rewards. Is this wrong?

@@orlathemming8689 - I think it’s just the amount of essence you get that changes. You won’t get better or more materials by changing difficulty (other than via the Major Cards).

The crafting tables(ect) have a max augment level so you can lock them once they are connect to the max. So as an example I have to make two workbenches to access all of my formulas. My rifle wasn't showing up so I had to reposition all my tables and optimize them. Very grindy game. At this point I am going to set it aside and wait to see what updates it gets. If they can get the offline figured out I'll step back in but the load time's really make the grind that much worse. This review hits most of the points that need to be fixed. Farming/gardening is the only one(additional gripe) I would add as it is unbalanced and not intuitive at all. I have no doubt that it will be what we had hoped for but my guess is the polish will take a couple years.

i think you have too many augments on the workbench, try moving things until the tea set is active and try again to get the gun. the grind of the game has been pleasant for me, and the different mats are useful for getting the desired traits on your gear.

To craft stuff you need 'augmentations' gun is the saddle thing

I do agree that the augmentations are a lil crazy that's really my only gripe. the grindy aspect doesn't bother me at all so that's definitely preference. survival crafting is def a trait you have to have a good feeling for. saying its bad at all is very unfair to a game that's in early access and have more fleshed out than 90% of trash that falls onto steam from unity asset stores flips. It has a fresh new theme to the genre. yeah the puzzles are repetitive but so is every other game ever. we play games to kill time and enjoi ourselves lol whats the big deal?

Icarus is completely different aside from the genre. source; i have 80 hours in nightingale. 70 hours in Icarus.
