So many people don’t seem to like yellow-but it is indispensable to me. I have different shades of it on most of the walls of my home-and it does make me very happy! (Besides, yellow bounces more light than any other color, and I adore light.). I love the shades you used (I don’t have any use for very pastel yellows, or those that have green in them)! Congratulations on struggling through and being successful. I think that the problem with the last page you were working on was that the purple and aubergine didn't really 'like' each other very much. I think it’s hilarious that you just had to tone that page down because it was “too yellow” and then it turned into orange! I’m still struggling with orange and only accomplished backgrounds but as I watch and listen to you I realize that I’m probably overthinking and trying to do too much! This video was special, I was hysterical, actually though had a mouth full of coffee at one point, almost sprayed it all over my art work...what would you say about that? "Just go with it, it'll be okay everything dries eventually, it has interest and texture" Well if we're painting with urine yellow we can accept coffee stains! Love ALL your videos!!😂

This opened up automatically in my feed for some reason and I heard what you were saying about Indian yellow. It is true how it was made but it sad that your only take away was it was a funny story about the smell of ammonia. The animals who were used to create this pigment were treated were treated extremely cruelly and usually died in agony.

I've just made a video, now on my KZbin channel, of the collage I've made with a Tyvek sunflower that you might be interested to see (I'm not on Facebook so can't join your group there to share unfortunately) - not as bright yellow, as my "Organic Journal" has a grunge colour scheme, but verging on the yellow lol! I put a link to your channel under that video - thank you so much for getting me going on collage and also on gel printing! I wonder if you know what you've started... You can see my bathmat prints on there too, and my first DIY Fix-a-Loo prints.

You all can comment how ever you feel you need, cause I really want to know what everyone's feelings are... Why do people spend so much time creating in journals when a completed piece should be hung or displayed?? Please leave your true feelings, I am wondering if there is some good that I am missing by not doing journal collages or any journaling at all! I have always felt it was a waste but is it?? Or, am I missing out on an important creative outflow...?!

I use to feel exactly the same way about 8 years ago when I first met gelli printing and art journaling. I was exhibiting a lot and wondered why the heck anyone would spend all that time & energy creating art that no one would see & that you couldn't sell?! But now I know! There is no pressure to sell & I don't have the canvases or paintings filling up my studio. If you don't want the pressure to sell art or are limited for space, then creating in a book is perfect. Also, you can be free! It doesn't have to be perfect, or even finished. You don't even have to show anyone if you don't want to. You can be fully yourself. It's also good for beginners or practising, or trying new techniques or even new art supplies. There are a lot of reasons people like to use art journals to create art, now I get it! Cheers Froyle

😂 I have issues with yellow. I can handle it in small doses, particularly if it is not the main player, but even then, I only like certain shades and tints. Years ago (maybe 15) I was in an art journaling class taught by a dear friend. As we were binding our journals, she encouraged us to select a color that we didn’t usual work with, when painting the cover. I chose yellow. OMG, WTH?!? While I used the journal in the class, I never touched it again. Occasionally, I’d give it a bit of side-eye when I’d spot it in my studio. I hated it with a burn hate that bordered on hate. Finally, I cut the binding apart and stomped on the hideous yellow thing. My friend is still my friend, but whenever she says, “Choose a color you don’t normally work with,” I NOW IGNORE HER. There is no therapy for some of us in this regard. LOL!
