You can actually confirm the snap theory as to keep with it, during the scene when hes analyzing the new element and he moves the orb into a sphere around him to view each proton individually you can hear a snap before he shoots his arm up.

Actually in that scene Tony wasn't in the Iron Man suit. He remotely controlled the suit from somewhere else. That's why it didn't really put extra pressure on the sofa - coz the suit is empty. MY OPINION 😁

A kinetic-kill missile means that the missile doesn't carry an explosive payload. The ex-wife is basically a guided bullet designed to reach supersonic speeds to make an impact hard enough to punch through the enemy fortification, or as Hammer put it, "bust the bunker under the bunker you just busted." Yes, Rodey's fault for improper weapon use, but perhaps he assumed that the weapon would have a higher muzzle velocity to begin with. Also, since it has no explosive warhead, all destructive force would have been concentrated on Whiplash and wouldn't have hurt Rodey and Tony.

@Jo Weber I think Justin Hammer only considered the fact that the missile can only be used when the suit is flying at a supersonic speed and is at least a long distance away from the enemy. It's like an F-22 Raptor locking it's target when the enemy itself when supersonic. So, going back, the suit can fire it when it's at a supersonic speed but it needs to transfer it's momentum and energy to make it accelerate forward. But Roddey used it otherwise. That's why the Ex-Wife missile isn't as effective. But if it is, it would've been very lethal on both sides of the board.
