I absolutely loved Spot because he’s the first “scientist turned into a monster during experiment gone wrong” character who actually ACTS like a scientist. He’s constantly experimenting and picking apart the broader applications of his powers over the course of the movie. And unlike every other supervillain (who usually just tolerates having a kryptonite) when he realises he can run out of holes, he quickly brainstorms a way to get rid of the weakness by recreating the accident that transformed him on a much larger scale. He's far from the joke everyone sees him as.

Also, him being tied to a punching bag towards the end of the movie is a call back to the first movie where he tied Peter B Parker up.

Even watching it again, the film is still insanely entertaining with its strong humor, fantastic action sequences, memorable characters, great soundtrack, and all of the different references to past Spider-Man iterations, but I obviously can't forget what the film really excels at. Hopefully Beyond is a great conclusion to what's slowly making its way as one of the greatest film trilogies of all time.

Ok, quick lesson on media literacy: When an antagonist expresses an idea (like how the multiverse works), the story is telling us that THAT idea is wrong. So Gwen's dad quitting (notice that nothing starts glitching when that "canon" is "broken?") doesn't mean that he "doesn’t have to die," it's SHOWING us that Miguel is WRONG about the Canon.

The only question that still left unanswered, is to whether Miguel’s theory about Miles being an anomaly being true. And if Miles is not the anomaly, who is?

None is the thematic storytelling choice...That they've let Tragedy define them letting and causing more Tragedies to occur for nothing. The term itself is the clue. They could've used Unpruned, Mistakes, Hiccups, Errors. But they used Anomalies (something that deviates from what is standard, normal and expected). It's meta and hides the actual terminology of what's happening.

Well this actually isn't breaking Canon. Its removing her dad as the object of the Canon. The event that proves he could potentially not know everything about the Canon was Miles' existence. He said he's the original anomaly. The spider that bit him wasn't from his dimension, so that event broke his entire Canon timeline. So technically his timeline shouldn't exist. And yet it does. It didn't destabilize, or glitch out until Kingpin's fiasco, which had nothing to do with the anomaly. So that means at this moment, HIS dimension doesn't HAVE a Canon. So Miles CAN'T break the Canon anymore. He should be able to change things as he wished.

@@Bakuru If Canon Events are 100% they should be because narratively and thematically it's completely stupid for them to be made up and hundreds of Spider-People agree with it without question. The real question isn't true or false it's what exactly causes universes to die. We're 100% given three examples of an altered/broken canon not destroying anything. Miles, Alt Miles and George Stacy. The Miles's can 100% be logically explained... One was supposed to be The Second Prowler. The Other was supposed to be the One and Only Spider-Man of their reality. They simply switched fates because of the Butterfly Effect of Bitten vs Non-Bitten. It's really that simple. The Canon is maintained a Miles exists as a Prowler and as a Spider-Man the Multiverse doesn't care which is which. George Stacy is the direct proof of countering ASM 90 nobody has to die...It can happen but it's not guaranteed or fated.

@flamesofchaos13 you're mostly right with this but see that's not NECESSARILY true here. Because the REASON those 2 things happened is directly BECAUSE of the spider jumping dimensions. The Miles we know was just fine. And Spider Man DID exist already here. And what Miguel is saying is, if that Canon breaking event didn't happen, the Peter of this world wouldn't have died, because he would have stopped the mechanism beforehand. That event is what CAUSED the Miles of Earth 42 to become what he did. Because Spider-Man never came into existence in that world (because the spider that bites went to this world instead), that leads to that Miles' dad dying, and THAT is what caused him to roll with his Uncle Aaron and eventually become the Prowler. He wasn't the end one. He's the original. The event broke Canon, and it affected both worlds. But neither one destabilized, or is even in danger of it. Their timelines simply changed. Meaning there IS safe ways to change the fate of a timeline. You're right, the question IS what exactly is it that causes dimension destabilization.....because Miguel doesn't even realize that he is ALSO an anomaly of sorts as well. He already TRIED to change his fate by assuming his life in another timeline, and it ended up crashing. Did he ever go back to his own world? If not, what happened to THAT world? Is it already gone? If it isn't, them Miguel has alot more research to do about this LOL 👀

They assembled another great cast of voices. I love Hobie, and Daniel Kaluuya brings a lot of heart as the rebellious punk Spiderman. The way his guitar is animated separately and on different beats adds a level of visual chaos to every scene he pops up in. Casting Andy Sandberg as Ben Reilly (Scarlet Spider and 90s clone of Peter) is such a great satirical choice. Ben is wildly underrated (and this isn't even a good representation😅) but appearing here as a pastiche of the 90's ultra-muscle physiques and dark, brooding thought bubbles is hilarious.

I'm surprise to see nobody including Rukiya talked about the moment, when during the intervention to prevent Miles from leaving, he says to Gwen, “You were right. You never should’ve come to see me.”. Just a single line, and Gwen’s reaction says everything about her character. Because it’s here, where we come to the true tragedy of Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen. You see, in the beginning of the movie, I hear many claim that it was George Stacy's actions of holding Gwen at gunpoint and attempting to arrest her that increased her inability to find anyone she can count on and run to, feeling she’s better off on her own, therefore leading her to leave her universe. And to this I agree. George was wrong in doing what he did, especially as it made his daughter feel pushed away. BUT, it would be foolish (even a little ignorant) to put this is ALL on George's shoulders, and relieve Gwen of her own actions. This sequel succeeds at is making Gwen so likable and sympathetic and allows us to empathize with her, even when she makes some morally questionable decisions. Yet, what I consider so brilliant, is how the movie subverts this right at this point. You see, in the beginning, you'll notice that Gwen’s father did try to help her, even simply by talking, when he saw she was not looking like her usual self after her universe's Peter died. But when that didn't work, he thought that by bringing her best friend's murderer suspect to justice would help give her some sort of peace. Because deep down, he saw a part of himself in Gwen, who would want to do whatever he can to make the city a better place. But this gets all stamped out when he saw that Spider-Woman, who from his point of view believed to have murdered her best friend, just so happens to be his own daughter. Therefore, he couldn't come to terms with everything that his own daughter hid from him for the past year or so. But in retrospect, there was also a part of her dad in Gwen, that made her at times see that there's only one option to any solution, and how anybody who says otherwise must be stopped. Who saw that the only way to do the right thing was on HER TERMS. On the surface, this sequel is the tale of how Gwen Stacy turned into the person she is, due to losing those she cared about, after being kicked when she was down, after believing that she has nobody to go to, after believing that she can't tell ANYTHING TO ANYONE if it risks revealing some very huge secrets. However, this is complete nonsense. Because there were those who weren't trying to kick her down, who simply wanted to see how she was doing without having to say too much, who did care about her still, who wanted to offer her to be a part of their lives too, still believed in her, and didn't want to let her down. Yet, it was always the setbacks that drove Gwen to allow herself to be languishing over what she lost and become more selfish in not trying to communicate with others, and lie to those who thought she meant so much to them. Therefore, as a result of doing so, she ended up doing the exact same thing and let down those, who trusted her and cared about her, again and again. All that glimmer of good we saw about Gwen getting consumed by her polarized view of the world. But at this moment, hearing what Miles tells Gwen, upon realizing that someone, who despite not seeing her for a while, saw her as a friend, still trusted her, and saw her as someone who she always thought others weren't like back in her home, has been deceiving him. The animation showing Miles's expressions and Shameik Moore's performance in his delivery is just perfect. Not vindictive, but more frustrated and unsure, due to feeling so blind. As if he's saying, "How could you let me down like that, Gwen?", "How could I have trusted someone like you?", or "After everything we just went through Gwen, this is what I get?". And it's here where we see how everything Gwen believed in, gets thrown at her face, as she realized that she doesn't even follow her own principles. Again, both the animated expressions and Hailee Steinfeld's performance when later being force to come clean to Miles speaks for itself. In Miles's eyes, she begins to see the people she let down herself. Including someone who sees all the trust and friendship he placed in her, being stomped out. But instead of feeling like she has become better like the rest of the Spider-People, she only feels shame and regret upon realizing what she's doing as well. Which leads to Miguel sending her home, believing she was a mistake to bring on the mission. Seeing how now she has nowhere else to go, we’re left wondering how will she will face her dad. But to witness the two managing to see each other's flaws and reconciling, shows that deep down Gwen still has something to hold onto still. But now, she must do the same for Miles. Beyond the Spider-Verse, is what I hope will not just be a movie about saving Miles, his parents and fixing the multi-verse, but for Gwen to find and tell him how sorry she is for letting him down too. All in all, what do you guys think?

I think that while we as the audience are positioned to take Gwen's side, her dad was just doing his job--if he’d let her go while on duty, that would have been corrupt and a violation of his oath. Letting Gwen go in that scene would be like those corrupt cops who let their children get away with crimes just because they are related. And you can hear the anguish in his voice when he tries to arrest her. Gwen's right: her dad IS a good cop. And I'm so grateful for that

The Director said that the reveal that Miles is the first anomaly is a meta-commentary on what led to the creation of the first Black Spider-Man. Some fans believe that Miles doesn't deserve his power or belong in the mask.

While in-universe it's about the fact Miles is actually destined to be The Prowler...Who was originally a Black Morally Good Hero who was demonized by a Racist and Corrupt Society. Who originally fought against Kingpin and Spider-Man. Who was the First Person besides Peter Parker to wear the Mask of Spider-Man to help him out with the Stacy's. Aaron is the Evil Variant of the Prowler (well was not anymore) not the OG who's also in the film.

Though Glitching, Miles Prowler, Miguel being hostile to Miles existing, The Spot being an Eldritch God and the very idea of Canon Events...All new content that throws a serious hiccup in any speculation. something i notice everyone say is “how does he have a B- in spanish since he is puerto rican”, i am puerto rican myself and let me tell you, spanish isnt just learning the language, you have to learn something called acentos (and more) which are á é í ó ú LET ME TELL YOU THOSE THINGS ARE HARD i have gotten a D in spanish bc of them (AND I MAINLY SPEAK SPANISH) also spanish old literature is also hard, tried reading el mio cid and wanted to end myself, you also have to remember that he misses classes bc of his spiderman thing, its not bc hes dumb or doesnt know spanish, another thing is that sometimes usa schools teach europe spanish which is WAYYY different than puerto rican spanish and some teachers choose to ignore native spanish speakers and keep teaching europe spanish so yeah miles B in spanish probably isnt because he doesnt know spanish or dumb but bc of other reasons bc he most definitely knows spanish

Yeah. My Chilean American mother has never been that good at written Spanish, especially the acentos, even though she's been speaking it her whole life. I'm the opposite. I mostly grew up exclusively using English and didn't start studying Spanish until 2.5 years ago when I turned 21. I am now extremely literate, acentos included to the point where I can tie them into spoken pronunciation, and have a decently good accent that barely sounds gringo at all although my Spanish listening is still absolute hot garbage. 😂 As a non native speaker, elementary Spanish I was probably my easiest A in community college personally 😅

By the way Miles canonically likes White and Black/Brown girls...Four White (Gwen, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, Lana), Four Black (Barbara, Tiana, Phin, Hailey), One Brown (Kamala Khan). Blondes, Black-Haired, Brunettes. Powered and Non-Powered. Worst romance = Kate Bishop actual treason against him almost killed him. He flirted with Cassie as she was trying to kill him as a giant. "Why does it look extra ghetto and broken"...Because it IS. Only Supervillains exist with powers who have dominated the Entire Earth, The only kinds of "Heroes" are Powerless Vigilantes. The Prowler is the "Good Guy" there...He's the best example of what it offers. "Miles ain't giving up without a fight"...He NEVER will that's the difference between them all. Rio- This family doesn't give up Miles you KNOW that. Aaron - Just keep going. Jefferson - This spark in you is yours and whatever you choose to do with it you'll be amazing. He would NEVER accept the algorithm or failure...Even if he has to die he'll fight to the bitter cold-bloodied end of existence. Miguel and the Spot have started a war that only ends in blood.

What I love about Miles G morale or Miles 42 is that his universe is quite similar to Miles 1610 but whereas Miles 42's palettes are darker but more bold the style is actually in the style of street art! (Which is why you can notice how rigid or sparked the character or scene is! It's in the style of a spraypaint texture!)

you know, people always get mad about the choice Captain Stacy makes in the prologue, but that's only because we've seen her side of things. You gotta remember he's a cop, and currently on the job during a dangerous situation. His blood is up, he is on high alert, He's in the head space ahere all the choices he makes are gonna be life or death for him. My dude is in warrior mode, and suddenly Spider-Woman throws a curve ball at him, and he doesn't know if its a trick or not. She could have shape-changing or charming powers for all he knows. And if its not a trick, and this his daughter, then his daughter isn't who he thought she was. He has to then ask the question: does that include his daughter being a hardened criminal? And he's probably seen that on the job before, too. So he goes with what he knows has gotten him out alive and out of issues before: he sticks to procedure, and he doesn't trust anything until they can get detectives in the interrogation room to analyze her story. I'm not even pro-cop, either, i'm pro-empathy. There's no one that makes a choice in any given moment that they think isn't best for them. Even if it turns out it isnt. That's not how people work.

I think George's problem was his blind obsession too catching who he thought was Peter's killer. Let's remember that Jeff was in similar situation with Miles when he saw the new Spider-Man crouched over his brother's corpse, and then sees him run. For awhile, he thinks Spider-Man killed him, but then he sees how hard he fights to save the city from destruction and decides that such a person couldn't be a killer. There must be more to the story. George experiences the same thing. Only his belief that Spider-Woman killed Peter is never shaken, no matter how many lives she saves and villains she stops. This is the big divergence between Miles and Gwen's stories. If Jeff has acted like George, Miles would be a lot more like Gwen, and if George had acted like Jeff, Gwen would be a lot more like Miles. Anyway, my point is, if George hadn't been obsessed, the evidence of her actions should have at least caused some doubt on his belief that Spider-Woman was a murderer. If he had expressed any doubt to Gwen, she might have felt safer in coming forward. If that possibility of communication had been opened, all of this might have been avoided.

Yeah people have got the wrong impression of morality...Just because someone is hostile against the protagonist doesn't make them evil. Miles Prowler is just Darker and doing the exact thing Miles did to Peter B in ITSV...While living in a dystopian nightmare ruled by Supervillains where obviously you can't trust anyone. Miguel and Miles Prowler are literally by definition Anti-Heroes or Anti-Villains. Meaning Grey Area. A Pure Villain would literally try to murder Miles on sight...He wouldn't have woken up to be interrogated, Miguel would've sliced his throat and Gwen's. Further both Miguel and Gwen are Byronic Heroes which means they're their own worst enemy their own Villain. Miles might be so as well depending on where the narrative is heading. Miles himself has slid down to Anti-Hero given he's willing to risk the entirety of existence to get what he wants. That's an Evil Methodology given what he knows despite his Noble Intention and Goal.

True. I'm half Chilean. My mom has been speaking Spanish her whole life (a tiny bit longer than English), and even that didn't stop her from having problems in Spanish class. Mainly because she grew up listening to it and speaking it, not reading and writing it. I'm the opposite. I didn't start learning the language until 2.5 years ago when I turned 21, and I am very literate in the language already with a serviceable accent that isn't very gringo. However, my Spanish listening is hot garbage (it's worse when you're listening to Chilean Spanish) 😂

She was never with Peter she gets with Miles as they're around the same age though the Comics rushed the plot then friendzoned them permanently and gave Miles multiple different love interests before and after while Spider-Gwen remains a solo act. You can accept that a Pig, Car, T-Rex, Clone etc is a different kind of Peter. But you can't accept that a Teenager Punk-Rockstar Superheroine is a different kind of Gwen? Peter's own Gwen is a dead body a memory for years upon years. His True Love became MJ stayed MJ. I can offer even more extremely different radical departures between the different kinds of variants and why they're NOT the same people and thinking that is utterly illogical. For every single one of them Peter, Miles, Gwen, Miguel, Clones and Villains. That Peter himself doesn't take this pov he fully understands the differences...That make the Multiverse complex, nuanced, broken and weird. How he's just friends with Spider-Gwen and doesn't care about her relationships with others. That is the actual lore.

Miguel is a jerk because he feels he has to be. He tried to live a happy life and failed. He has a tremendous amount of guilt on his shoulders. He doesn’t want anyone else to go through that. He thinks that, if he failed so miserably at living a happy life, that means that every other spider person who tries will fail just as miserably. As such, he tries to stop them from trying. His trauma made him into the man he is

This movie was indeed a spectacular experience in the theater! Thanks for choosing to experience it with us instead. The use of different art styles in the backgrounds of each dimension, which you picked up on, was intentional. For example, you noticed how the colours kept shifting in Gwen's universe. From what I've read, the writers wanted her world to function like a "mood ring", changing colour and texture to reflect the emotional state of the characters. A most interesting choice. I'm astonished you didn't include the scene with Spider-Cat! When I saw the T-shirt you were wearing, I thought for sure you'd laugh like crazy that the story really did include someone from the "cat dimension". 😂

About the beginning of the movie of Peter in Gwens universe turning into "A lizard". You are actually correct as that was her universes version of the villain "The Lizard." So yeah no one can correct you lol haha. Also Miguel (Spider-man 2099) Is literally half spider. Most Spider people got bit by A radioactive spider. Miguel spliced his DNA with that of 50% Spider. As to why he had fangs and claws. (Believe it or not Tarantulas actually have tiny claws). He does not have A Spidey Sense either but does have Heightened senses.

Fun Comic Fact: Miguel doesn't have spider powers but terantula powers, hence why he doesn't have wall climbing powers or regular webs. Instead he has talons and venomous fangs. The point of him is that he's a sort of anti Spider-man, Spider-man which also reflects in how he's so socially awkward and unfunny.

Cool detail: Miguel and his top lieutenants are all spider heroes who didn't get their powers from a spider bite. Jessica Drew got it from genetic modification like Miguel, and Ben Riley is a clone. Maybe they aren't technically canon themselves. Miguel's fangs are spider fangs. He can temporarily paralyze people. Everyone teases him and calls him a vampire.
