Life if Northern Thailand is awesome. But I went deeper and found out what life is like the most remote villages and hill tribes up there. This is my latest Pay It Forward video.
Want to help future pay it forward efforts? Just go here: www.livingwate...

I met some real heroes in Thailand and this is the story of their efforts to change lives all over Thailand. It's not easy to get education in the most remote areas of this amazing Country but one man, one group, one family, has dedicated their entire lives to doing it, and they are making a huge difference.

Hi Chris/ Adam Thanks for sharing this , Truly INSPIRING. This is one side of Thailand's Northern Region which shows the difference of the real Thailand from what most of the Tourists see. The other side is the farming communities of Issan. Very few Tourists visit either. I have been very fortunate with my Travels within Thailand, as I have seen it all and if I'm honest with everyone, this is the real Thailand and the Thailand I fell in love with. I relate so much to what I see in these videos because I have seen a community grow first hand. The Thais are so resilient and no matter what is thrown their way as life unfolds, there is always a smile that accompanies the journey they take. I hope that people watch these videos and if nothing else, consider doing one of 2 things: Firstly, donate to the Living Waters project. It doesn't matter how big or how small, it is truly appreciated. Secondly, consider a Membership with Retired Working for You. There is a wonderful community to be apart of for very little commitment This isn't a sale pitch on behalf of anyone. In the pandemic, I was inspired by RW4Y and the story of Lucas, Shaun Stennings son. The videos got me through the pandemic as they reminded me of the place I love. I did something about it, as best I could and did both of the above. I cannot tell you how you feel when you see a video of a Pay it Forward and your small contribution means so much to a fellow Human Being. On behalf of all Thailand Lovers in the world, can I thank Chris, Adam, Shaun Stenning, Lucas and Living Waters on our behalf. The work you do is so needed to a lot of unfortunate people but so rewarding and inspirational to a community of Thailand Lovers. THANK YOU

Once, I traveled way out into the boonies with an American friend and his Thai wife. The reaction of some of the locals was hilarious. We walked down the street and people were running out of their shops and houses to watch us. They were laughing and pointing and some were jumping up and down (the kids). You would have thought we had landed a spaceship in the middle of town. I was thoroughly amused.

Thanks for this reminder Chris, during the pandemic we were contributing weekly to the Phuket life bag project which led into Living Waters. At the time I remember feeling how stingy our $20AUD per week was, then realised that our weekly contribution was almost engouth tp pay for one of the scholarships you provded to these kids. It made made me cry with gratitude. I enjoyed your 25 days of Bangkok, but Paying it Forward really makes my hear sing. Sorry for being sappy!

What an amazing video and topic! It was tough and exciting to watch. It was tough in the sense that it seems like it is so challenging to help them but also wonderful that the dorms are being built and the education is happening. I would challenge anyone watching this to to what they can and at least just spread the word and ask other people to do the same. Hopefully enough people will watch it, do something and more dorms and education can take place. The gift of education can never be underestimated.

Thank you for putting this vlog together and taking the time and effort to tell this incredible story. What is so incredible about it is, as Michael says, the dorms are a simple, straightforward response to need. It is inspirational to understand that ordinary acts of care and kindness can birth extraordinary results. My wife and I are planning on a long-term stay in Viet Nam or Thailand starting later this year and we want it to be more than just a vacation. We hope to be part of or create something of substance while there and this video shows how imagination and effort are critical parts of the equation--in addition to money, of course. Also: I've never doubted your heart and emotions but this and the teacher video are a creative and technical step up for RW4U. Keep working the good work...Cheers!

One of the most unique experiences I had when I was in the Army, was going into a small village of marsh Arabs in Southern Iraq, 17 years ago. There were some vehicles, so they weren't cut off from civilisation, but their houses were hand made, built from mud, reeds and animal dung. The adults were in traditional dress. The kids begged for our empty water bottles. I had a digital camera with me. They'd never seen one before and didn't know what it was. It was like stepping back in time a long way. I saw a mad harvesting reeds from the marsh, with a donkey carrying a load stacked high on it's back, of freshly cut reeds. A very eye opening experience of just how different many people on this planet live, compared to the rest of us.

Chris, I feel all your hard work making videos over the past many months has led you to this real time video essay of excellence. You may claim to be retired, but very few of us are as dedicated to a project/purpose. Is there a better subject than the people of Thailand? thanks much.....

I feel like I’m following a philanthropist’s vlog! Michael is amazing and sacrifices for the well-being of the underprivileged and building a for the village. Thanks for connecting with him, contributing to the village and telling the story. I hope to view more of your in-depth contents like this in the future. Thanks Chris. By the way do they accept donation items there? If they do, may I have the address of the place so that I can send some stationery?
