I've never noticed any claustrophobic staging or bass extension issues with my HD 6XX. They aren't "issues" It just seems like you're into that V-shaped sound signature with a dip around 1-2k.
@TotemTom2 ай бұрын
@@ChrisStoneinator I feel like it's worth mentioning that my hd600s serve as my "daily drivers" and spend more time on my head than most of the rest of my collection. As much as it's a fantastic set of cans and it spends a lot of time on my head, it's not wrong to want a different experience from what it provides. The vocal intimacy and natural timbre definitely makes for a great listen, but I don't think I'm the only one who wishes it could more believably recreate the sense of distance and layering that can be found in other headphones. I get that it can be a "one or the other" type scenario where it's hard to have both, but I ultimately believe it's a great thing that there's another headphone that can provide that full and neutral midrange experience with a greater sense of spaciousness without resorting to the excessive 1.5k carveout that hifiman headphones resort to. The HD6 series will still be there for those of us that enjoy it, and there's no harm in another option being out there for those who want something similar with some different affectations. As far as the bass extension goes, I have a harder time painting a nearly 10db dive from 100 to 20hz as a positive. One could argue that it forces focus more towards the mids, but I can't consider a headphone reproducing sound at a more accurate level to the original recording to be a fault

Waited a loooong time for this. Ok just half a year, but still. I am very annoyed that this is now around $255 where I am during sales... when I coulda bought them for $215 at one point, months back. Was hesitant to pull the trigger since the HD600 and Edition XS are both available for about $260-280. If these somehow get to even $230, I will order them with no hesitation. As tempting as the Edition XS os at that price point, I have an HE400SE. So the Aune would be a nice change of pace.

Let’s put on my Aune AR5000 and listen to this review! :) The AR5000 was a surprise to me after trying so many and disappointing Hifiman/Focal/Beyerdynamics cans in the past. It felt immediately nice for both sound and comfort. I am quite sensitive to all ear pads/headbands but this one is near perfect. After 30-40 minutes still start to feel some discomfort on the tip, but in general one of the best fits I ever tried. The sound. I liked it very much from the first day and was amazed by the realistic presentation. My playlist songs stated to feel alive again. It was a joy listening to my favs all over again. The mids are indeed very forward, but in a “boxy” way like some recent Beyer or planar headphones. I still like the midrange better on my Beyer DT 770 Pro (250 ohms) and probably the smoother HD650 if I am in the mood. (I never liked the HD600…) I wouldn’t call these treble-shy or “smooth” headphones. Mine sounds pretty bright with almost all my amps. But that could be also the upper mids… so in general still sounds clean and detailed to my ears. It is bright, but not sharp sounding. I only miss the bass… :( None of the sources I used gave me enough low end, unless you increase the volume to crazy listening levels. I miss the body and grunt of those low notes and after a few weeks this become quite obvious. I tried it for gaming and movie watching. For gaming It felt less engaging. I didn’t find it as accurate as my Beyer DT770 Pro. Bass was lacking obviously. But still sounded WAY BETTER than a Audeeze Maxwell in all aspects. (I don’t understand the hype around that headphone anyways… yes I had it) Movies were a nice and big, almost like a good home cinema system, especially if you able to add low frequencies into the stereo down-mix. All in all, this is a great looking, comfy and very convincing sounding headphone for a very good price. The sound in general has a nice big scale feel which you don’t really get with most of the (cheap) headphones. If you don’t need much bass and want an all-arounder just go for it you won’t be disappointed.

I have a question: Did ar5000 sound well for imaging and soundstage when gaming for games like cod, r6, val and etc. Idk if it's worth a pickup or any other recommendation?
@kutasimusic2 ай бұрын
@@chief5abi Personally I would not pick these headphones only for gaming. They sound okay, but not as directional, fast and detailed as the a Beyerdynamic. All the sound effects will feel a bit "compressed". I play the recent AAA games so could try it with a few. They are open back but it won't feel that wide or spacious. But if you want one all-arounder headphone, the Aune is still a good choice.
