Sage is criminally underrated. He makes music for the soul of a traveling joker who loves thru hurt, who bears the world on his shoulders yet remains kind and patient.

Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, Sadistik, Eyedea and Abilities, there are so many artists thay deserve so much more attention, but they don't care. They have their art, and that's what they care about. And that's what they deliver.

It was 2010, but it makes sense because this is his style, he is a poet, an artist. Broken Wings, Crack Pipes, Smoke & Mirrors, check out those songs from him. Best of times is among the best, my favorite from him.

Much props for reacting to this song. Sage is an underrated, (and at times) underappreciated artist. This song always seems to hit home when I give it another listen. The unique storytelling underlying the metaphor of insecurity is beautifully done here. I'm glad you appreciated it. Love the reaction!

Big fan of Sage and his works. His music was that big lil thing that held on when I couldn’t in some of the worst years of my life. This song, like many of his, touches home and the heart with its operational detail. It takes me to when I wrote my letter in HS. I felt it again when I took that letter and read it to my English class. The heat, the faint the crippling fear. What have I done..? How will I ever live it down? Everyone now knows… everything. And behold the power of words, music and art! I can stand in that room again and feel the feeling burnt deep in my subconscious, my soul. How beautiful a gift to not feel alone there and even be uplifted to accepting your humanity to the sounds of good fuckn music and reflective lyrics. The words I could never find 🎼🎵🎶played out before me🎶

I got hooked on Sage in 2002 after I listened to "Hopeless". The first time I heard this track, I was working out on the road. I was missing my family and scrolling for something to distract myself. I saw that this had just dropped a week prior, so I jumped on it. I cried like a baby. My kids were in school & around the same age as the kid in the video. I broke me down. It is beautiful in the deepest sense of the word. Here are a couple of very important songs from other artists: "Which Side Are You On?" by B Dolan (He's in Epic Beard Men with Sage Francis) and "What Can We Do For Each Other?" by Mikey Mike. A couple other real emcees to put on your radar: Jurassic 5 "What's Golden" Chali 2na "Controlled Coincidence" Jarv "Fine" Charles X "Lord". If you get a chance to check these out, please drop me a line and lit me know. I'd love to see you react to each of them, but I understand how unlikely that is. Anyhow, thank you for deacting to this. It took me back.

Young man, hello from an old man. I'm 61, Hispanic, but pretty white. I'm not the most versed in the whole hip-hop thing. But I do know Sage Francis from decades ago. Bought a couple of CDs. (Those were discs, we used to listen to music on them.) Back then he was a very angry guy, with good reason, but also seemed introspective while telling truths. Back then I never knew what he looked like, those were pre-internet days. I'm glad he seems to have found some peace, as have I. Anyhow. I'm your newest subscriber. However this KZbin thing goes for you, I have one bit of advice. ALWAYS seek music, new and old, and give it a chance. It has given context to an old fart's life, framed all I have got through. I love seeing young and thoughtful people experience music in a more contemporary context.
