Scott's talking about pressure and how to feel it in the swing - would love to see Ian and Matt's pressure trace on force plates to see what's the difference between them.

Sorry, I just cannot watch this guy’s instruction. It is so mind-numbingly overthought and over complicated. The golf swing is not anywhere near this conceptually difficult to comprehend-but I guess if you can convince people it is, then you make yourself a job?

Exactly…the top balls are flying exactly as far as they did 20 years ago. At a 110mph swing…the issue is these guys now have gyms, yoga, trainers and launch monitors to swing well over 120. If I want to see someone hit it 270, I’ll watch old Wide World of Golf vids.
@GoFast865

@@c5jp904 that’s not true at all. The balls are completely different.

@Jon-Michael Sherman But that’s exactly why they want to roll it back. I don’t think their issue is so much about how far they hit it now, they’re worried about how far they’ll hit it in 15-20 years time. They know that these guys are athletes and that they’ll always work out how to get faster. They’ve said if they roll it back now they won’t need to look at distance for another 15 years or so.

Every sport regulates the ball used or the sport will die. MLB, NFL, NBA, MLS - they all regulate the ball. What if MLB let companies develop faster and faster balls until every pop up was turned in to a home run? End of the sport. Amazing to me that people actually believe the golf ball should not be treated the same as the ball in every other sport.

I've been working on this exact thing for the past month - using the lead leg instead of the trail foot to generate core speed. I've absolutely gained speed and reduced early extension. I also use Rory's split hand drill a lot to really nail the sequencing. The swing is looking fantastic Ian. Glad the work is paying off.

I normally love everything about golf, but this is way too technical for me. I feel like this type of coaching would work for the better player, but would be too much for an average golfer. Great to see Ian’s hard work is paying off.

A good coach will cater what they say to the student. I used to teach, I had students who wanted to know it all & some wanted me to just give them "feels." I'm still using all my available information just communicating it differently. However not all coaches will, make sure you interview your perspective coach before taking a lesson otherwise it may not be productive.

Swing is looking the best ive seen it Ian. You can tell how much you're getting that weight into the lead foot and then pushing off, which looks like it is triggering the club to come down onto the ball in sequence and with force. The swing looks very powerful!

Hello, i will definitly try the left foot thing. But one Question...i am now 52 Years old and have a blocked Back. That means i am really struggeling with the Swing after the Impact, which means my body dont want to continue rotating or is slowing down. That results in a cocking left wrist ( no chicken wings, just the left wrist cocks !! ). Because of that i am really struggeling to create some Speed. As example with the Driver i have only around 88 mph. Have you any Tip please what i can try to do ? I would be very thankfull for ANY Help !! 👍 Thanks Matthias

Top of BS to Impact is less than 1/4 second. There is no way to know where are hands or feet are in space once the DS begins. Without inversion of the left foot (subconsciously),, eg Jack Nicklaus; the shear force will create lower back damage.

Love this but the comment from Scott about the lightest your are part of the ground force is when you push into the ground not when push up. If you get in a scale and push down on it you will get lighter then when you pop up. Facts try it.

VERY, VERY eye opening. Hence, having your center mass (i.e. rib cage) go faster than your arms. This is achieved, as Hogan would say, from the bottom-up.... by proper lower body (from knees down) power truster to right-side to the left/lead side as you rotate. Moreover, such a move allow the hitter to use the ground far more efficient in achieving speed. Outstanding stuff!

That was a light bulb moment for me when he said people that early extend use their right foot way too much. That describes me exactly. I push hard off my right foot, my hips stop turning I early extend, flip, then chicken swing to finish lol. If I can push more off my left foot and not push off right I feel like all of that will correct itself. Great video.

One thing I'm noticing on my own swing journey -- the more I use the lower body the more I notice pain in my left-side of my left knee (righty) when pushing off (e.g., harder to kneel afterwards); never had any joint pain prior to this. The different connection points of the lead arm to the chest on the back swing vs down swing is definitely an eye opener.

Excellent stuff, I’ve been following Scott instruction to Ian with good effect. Recently struggle with an excessively in-out path of around 7*. Felt like I wasn’t turning the corner. Will give this a go along, less so about finding speed and more so about getting correct sequence.
