Miele Washing Machine TwinDos Maintenance & Clean Cycle Demo

In this video I demonstrate the TwinDos care cycle on my Miele W1 Excellence washing machine, as recommended by the Miele service technician who came to look at my machine when it developed a fault. I also run the Clean Machine programme to prevent any smells and bacterial build up.

You can buy a reusable twindos bottle and just fill that with warm water and clean it that way. I've only put one bottle of cleaner through mine over the 3.5 years I've had it and I've had no problems so far

We use mix of warm water with bicarbonate (100 gr) and a 200 ml apple vinegar, it cleans perfectly.

Just found this video because I have problems with Twindos. Have a Miele Twindos and I'm NOT happy with it. Father insisted we buy it, I was against it because I knew it wasn't that simple and everything sounded unnecessarily fancy. I was right. 😅 Took both bottles out and now the red i doesn't turn off even if it's cleaned. I wish we bought regular Miele. I mean it's not that hard to put stuff in the washing machine by hand. I find Twindos system more troublesome than helpful... But that's my experience. Edit: took 4 hours of YT, net scrolling, then calling 2 customer services to enter the P68 programme and run it on my Miele W1 type WWD660 WCS. It was quite the day!

You've nailed it with your observation that TwinDos is more trouble than its worth. It doesn't clean any better than using Persil with my previous Miele, TwinDos costs a lot more than Persil (although this might not be an issue for people buying Miele), and most importantly critically causes problems. So, no benefit, extra cost, more hassle.

I just use water to clean mine , purchased the refillable bottles, just put some water in one , had no issues

In the 'old' days it was the bear rings that made the machine unuseable. With Miele Twin Dos system it is the Twin Dos system that gives the first problems.

I got the Bosch i-DOS machine for my mother and now I want a similar machine in Miele. I went to look at this one, but it appears overly complicated plus they want you to buy the cleaning materials from Miele? They say not, but I don't know. It will turn into printer cartridges all over, no thanks. I tend to always buy Miele by default but in this instance I will go with Bosch for simplicity and a system that I have seen really work. You put your clothes in, press a button and off it goes with right dosing of whatever detergent/softener you use, Lidl in my case.

We had Miele and that broke down. Could not repair it. Then HAD to buy a Miele again. Had to... because Miele is the ONLY one that has the door opening to the right. Any other machine goes to the left. 😢 Happy with the twindos. But I think I will start using a refilling one, after the originals are used up.

When I have used up my Miele TwinDos detergents, I will start using the dispenser drawer as I don’t trust that it won’t fail again. Miele had to write off my £1600 machine when the TwinDos failed and corroded the base of the washer. I have a video on my channel about it.

Hi, Roger! When you chose 'Yes' to diffrent agent, was that Miele Ultra Phase 1 agent different to the previous one you used?

We have had miele washers for over 40 years. Brilliant & utterly reliable. That was until 2021. We got one of these twindos washers, a big mistake i fear. This leak problem cropped up & stained the floor with the machine out of action for a number of weels. Machine was replaced. I opted out of a similar twinmess machine & went back to the normal type of washer. This was in april 2022. Normal service has been resumed with no problems at all. Each miele has lasted over 10 years, what does them in in the end is bearing & spyder failiure. Ending up sounding like an angle grinder. They are certainly not of the same quality of the older machines & are a nightmare to service & exchange parts. Also, most of the programs are way too long. Towels that are of a delicate nature can be slightly torn. This is the last miele in this house, no more. Next time it will be ebac.

Most Miele washing machines will be made in Poland by 2027 and I expect all vacuum cleaner production will be moved to China within a few years. I doubt I will get another Miele.

Thank you for a very clear concise video. When running the cleaning program one must not use detergents, does that mean one must remove the twin dos cartridges, or does the cleaning program not select tp draw from the twin dos cartridges? Thank you.

I get an error message telling me I have too litle detergent when trying to run the Twindos maintenance mode. Its a brand new detergent as shown in the video. Ideas?

I would never buy a Miele with Twin Dos and can only warn others to think twice, if they would think of buying one. This system simply just sucks. Because the tubes clogs.

You are lucky if the tube clogs. The tube fittings were thin plastic, mine broke and the detergent leaked inside the machine, eventually shorted the main circuit board.

I live in the US - also have a Miele with the TwinDos system. Where do you buy the refillable containers to use water (instead of buying the TwinDos Care?). I would rather use water and do this more frequently.

At 6:02 the machine asked if you were using a *different* agent, not a _detergent_ agent.

@@ibaisaic When asked if you are using a *different* agent, the default answer was NO because the machine expects you are likely using the same detergent. You changed the answer from NO to YES, thats why you were prompted to go to into settings when you did not need to. YES means you are using a different agent. NO means you are using the same agent. You should have selected NO.

As soon as I am back from holiday, I will make sure all the settings are adjusted. I am waiting for all my Miele TwinDos detergents to run out so I can stop using it and return to using the drawer, but as I have loads of the stuff, I suspect the washing machine will fail for the second time before I run out of detergent. I think my next washer will be a £250 Beko.

Had a Miele washer and drier since 2007, No Issues! Bought this bloody thing 2 months ago, absolutely hate it. Twin Dos constantly bugging me about this issue. Thinking about either returning it to the shop or bringing out the sledgehammer. Avoid!

​@@DJMarcyMOO-u2e I was looking for the 9 kg capacity and did not give a crap about TwinDos. The dealer told me I could do without the TwinDos and use whatever without any problems. All lies, TwinDos will give you alarms whether you use it or not. My TwinDos capsules are still in their original packaging and have never been used. What Miele is doing is the Inkjet printer business model. They have decided that building bulletproof machines that require replacement every 20 years is not profitable enough and they are pushing you into buying their "inkjet cartridges every month or so. This is a fact.

Can I ask are you still continuing to use Twindos as my engineer from Miele said to me if I could give you, one piece of advice, do not use it but said if you do make sure you flush it every time you change the cartridge

Yes I am continuing to use the TwinDos as I paid extra for that feature and I must have about two years of detergent to use. The engineer that came to condemn my machine advised me to use the TwinDos maintenance programme every three months. As I have the Miele empty detergent bottles, I will fill them with water and flush out the system before I change a bottle.

That is why i never use front loader as you can see there was some areas with detergent which means water does not reach everything and you can never disinfect clothes in these washing machines

Maintenance like this is recommended for all washers. The twindos maintenance only takes a few extra minutes and that's easily made up with how much times it saves day to day

I have a Miele, but looking at that I’m glad I just got a basic combination washer/dryer without twin dos. Also I wonder if the cleaning solution for the twin dos isn’t mostly just water after all what else would you use just to wash alway stale detergent?

I have to “cater” for most of the appliances in my home because I tend to look after them. I don’t mind doing this once every 3 months due to the time it saves me not having to decide how much detergent to put in the dispenser drawer.

@@ibaisaic I am not against the idea, the idea is not bad, the implementation is still awful I am afraid. One year old washing machine and turning to dust? Pampering the machine and if you don't take this literally, it ends badly? For a machine that supposedly has got a proven build quality and costs as much? Having to deal with those reservoirs (are they proprietary by the way and what is the cost of the detergent reservoirs)? Impractical as I can barely think of an elder using this TwinDos having to crawl across the floor in order to replace them. Really not a hater of the idea, it is just that they messed it all up whilst they could have not, and they did this either because of incompetence or because of greed.

I don't like the name "TwinDos" and it's a VERY faffy system! ... I use a "normal" washing machine, and do my own cleaning and maintenance. My old Candy lasted 19 years, which would give an over-priced Miele a run for its money!

I have a newer Candy manufactured Hoover in my garage. I doubt it would last two years of regular use before it’s left out for the scrapman. I’m not really sure why you’re bothered because I was the one that paid for this machine and I am quite happy for people to buy whatever washing machine they want. Personally I would never buy a Candy and probably never buy another Miele again. When the time comes to replace my Miele I will do my research and buy a machine that best suits my needs and my budget.
