My Dad had one of these. He was a pro union musician that had a "continuous music" clause when they played banquets/weddings etc. So with the full band he'd be on bass, but if a few guys in the band went on break, he'd switch to guitar with maybe the piano player playing bass on the left hand...or he'd just do some guitar music on his own during a cocktail hour. It was very useful for him and he used it for over 20 years.

How is his back? They seem more managable than other double neck anchors.

@@onpsxmember he had a very thick, padded strap for it, and luckily could sit down at gigs most of the time. I actually have it now and can confirm it's heavy as fuck.

Those straight necks, perfect electronics and intonation all set (everything functions as it should)..are a testament to the high quality instruments Ibanez was putting out in the early 80's..I have a few and they are awesome..This one is rare in its bass on top guitar on bottom configuration..yes separate output for two amps.. bass and guitar..I would love one...

I had an Ibanez double-neck very similar to this many, many years ago. Mine was more like a straight SG/EB combination in terms of looks and pick-up configuration. The only thing really wrong with it were the bolt-on necks, which flexed like crazy, particularly the guitar neck. It was really easy to go out of tune with any sort of pressure on the neck. Other than that, it was a lot of fun. I had it re-wired with a stereo jack so each neck could go to a different amp, or to two channels of the same amp. I wish I still had it...

This guitar is from late '70's - very early '80's. I had an Ibanez sales brochure when I was 14 - and dreaming of rock stardom, that showed this as a custom order option. It has the Ibanez Musician bass pickup. This brochure also showed an 8-string Musician option bass with a cool picture of John McVie playing it.

Formby's furniture cleaner with a toothbrush works well to clean that fret board cheese. I generally don't like oil but if a fret board really needs it, Homer's lemon oil works good too. Another furniture product is Old English to darken or rejuvenate fret boards. It works sometimes and doesn't turn my fingers purple. That was recommended by the dealer for scratches in my daughter's expensive double bass so I figure it won't hurt guitars.

It sounds and looks like the bass and guitar PUs are interacting with one another when both necks are active. The owner probably just switches to the neck they are playing at the time to work around that problem, to play through a single amp.
