It would take 25 years to make $5 mil. And that's assuming she makes the top salary the very first year, which she wont. But let's just assume for the sake of argument, she'd get $200K every year from the beginning. With that said, $5mil in your hands today is money you can invest. After taxes, she'd end up with maybe $2.7 mil. If she lives off of the $700K and invests the $2mil in a fund that matches the S&P 500 and it averages 10% over those 25 years (the S&P 500 has always returned 10% over any 30 year block of time), that $2 mil turns into nearly $20 million! Now who knows. She's become so big, maybe she ends up making $20 million in endorsements and won't care about her tiny WNBA salary. The only reason I could see her not playing is if she tries to play with the men and gets destroyed, the mystique would be gone. I remember when Serena Williams was killing it and people were wondering if she could compete against the men. Obviously she couldn't, but many people really thought she could. If she ever tried and got crushed, I think she'd lose something in the public eye and maybe Caitlin won't play in the Big 3 for that same reason.

First off, I'll assume she'd get the top $205,030 salary from year one. She's a rookie, so she wouldn't. But let's assume she would. So it would take 24.4 years to get $5 mil. Let's just call that 25 years. Here's the huge problem. If she plays in the Big 3 and gets $5 mil, after taxes, that's $2.7mil. If she lives off of $700K and invests the $2 mil in a fund getting her 10% interest, in 25 years, she'd have a shade under $20 mil, blowing away anything she'd get with the WNBA! Now if I had to guess, she's not going to accept the offer. Why? 1. She's probably going to make millions in endorsements. She's just about a household name at this point and if I had to guess, she'll probably bring in $20mil in endorsements. So while an extra $5 mil is nothing to sneeze at, she won't be hurting for money. 2. Remember when Ronda Rousey was killing the MMA game and everyone was saying she could beat men too? Heck, even I fell for the hype. If she never got beat by Holly Holmes and Amanda Nuñez, there would always be the question. Can she beat men? Just like a lot of people think Caitlin could actually hang with the men. If she gets destroyed (which she would if the men played her seriously), her aura goes away, ruining future endorsement deals and she knows it.

If she wants to take the offer and it’s a slight conflict with WNBA, she should just delay her start in the NBA. She could even play overseas (which she has expressed interest in) during the gap year. Many of the European greats in the NBA got drafted and then spent (or considered spending) 1-2 seasons playing for a different club in Europe as prep (Kukoc, Ginobili, Nowitzki). She could do that for money for year and then be set and come to the WNBA, free from money worries for a career.

I watched the show, and this post to learn something, and I came away with nothing. And Cube, if you want to sell your league, you gotta do a WAY better job than this. Pat & co. were struggling to generate any kind of information, enthusiasm or salesmanship from you, and you acted like you couldn't be bothered, or had no idea what the answers were. Cube, you gotta find a better marketer. You are destroying your own brand. Get a better person for the mic.

Man could these WNBA women hate Caitlin Clark anymore- yes. This will Just push that heat but that’s part of it. Problem 1 Is Caitlin is use to a smaller basketball and I think that would be a huge challenge for her. Problem 2 is the physicality of playing men would be hard to overcome. Problem 3.
