Great video! I'd like to see icebergs about popular/not so popular manga/anime/tv series theories and curiosities as well as icebergs about real life phenomena with/without logical explanations.

Wait, what about Carlos Yulo's family drama after winning the gold medal for the first time? The context occured when netizens found his mother cheering for the competition on Facebook, which spiraled into a rabbit hole that revealed beef between Yulo's mother and girlfriend.

Something that was left out but that you need to know is that the Brazilian government wanted to tax the prize money given to Olympic medalists when they returned to Brazil. There was such a commotion in favor of the athletes that a few days later the government decided to go back on its decision and no longer tax the prizes. Here it became known as the "medal tax" Imagine being an Olympic champion and instead of your country's government congratulating you, it decides to charge you a fee for the gold medal, lol

Talking about the Olympics and taxes, let me tell you a story about the Mexico 1968 Olympics. To put it in a nutshell, the government decided to impose a temporary tax collection from car owners in the whole country since 1962 to finance the 1968 Olympics... To this day, the Mexican government hasn't removed that very tax...

@@TheEisenBergExperience Income tax was born this way too. It was a tax to help England in the Napoleonic wars and it ended up staying. It was later copied by other countries.

I didn't expect to an Olypics based iceberg I'm not a massive fan of the Olypics but I just had to watch this video considering how I was told this event was crazy and it definitely was I mean someone lost a gold meddle due to having a big ... You know. I knew about a bit of this stuff before watching cause of how much it was talked about but there was also some stuff I did not know. That guy from the last entry should definitely not be aloud to compete in the Olypics I don't care if he was "still figuring himself out" it's something you should have known not to do and is an absolutely STUPID excuse it's not like your completely out of control of yourself as a teenager it's horrible that he would do such a thing and say that to defend himself. I really did enjoy this video and am looking forward to seeing what other icebergs are uploaded to this channel. Also if I were to suggest an iceberg to to I would suggest an iceberg on the topic of myths urban legends/ folk law I find that stuff so interesting!

Thanks a lot for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the iceberg, and of course many others are to come. Definitely, a terrible excuse for such an act because there's no excuse at all. I think they should be careful about who they send to represent their people at an international event like that, no matter how skilled they are. Greetings!

You forgot to mention that Ana Barbosu lost her medal after the American team complained to the judges. This Olympics really showed western unity and what great athletes AngloSaxons are. Theyre so good they dont even need to compete.

The US coaches complained to the judges because Jordan Chiles' routine wasn't scored properly. The judges didn't give her as many points as they were supposed to for the difficulty of her routine. It's not as if Chiles was given the medal for no reason.

As for Van de Velde, he seems to be apologetic/reformed from what he did and moving on in life. Even if he had served his full sentence, he'd have been out for 4 years now and still be no problem to compete. It highlights this prevailing idea in our culture now that people don't see such people as being able to change, which is kinda hypocritical considering how much we talk about people going to therapy to *gasp* change for the better. Prison is supposed to be about rehabilitation, not just pure punishment for crimes. If we don't leave room for criminals to change, then there's no point in wasting resources to keep them alive.
