You are going to appreciate all the aches, pains and be grateful for your eye to detail when its all finished. Mind I don't envy your second coat of white. Spray painting will definitely lessen the eye strain. The feeling of achievement will be priceless. Your videos aren't boring. They can be extremely educational for people. When we did a build-on ourselves, I did all the taping, mudding, prepping, priming and painting of the drywall for my very first time at the young age of about 50 (female) and we were both working full time. People don't know what they are capable of doing until they try. Sadly most people won't even try. The place is looking incredible. I am starting to get anxious to seeing the end product.

Ive had that little graco for a few years, couple tips.... A.) completely break down the gun, clean and let air dry especially where the needle seats. Where the needle seats up against it will rust up then itll start shooting like shit. They didnt mention that in my directions but yeah save yourself the headache. When you take off the piece that the needle seats against pull the trigger in while you crack it loose as to not score the needle (its really like ball bearing). B.) If you care about saving paint for cleanup throw your suction tub in water and just blast the paint from the gun back into your paint can until itll looks a tad looser. I dont usually bother with that unless i have a 50ft+ hose on.

I’m not sure what lumber you need, but have you considered using your own trees to get lumber at a better cost, or checking if a local person is already set up to cut lumber? I guess for outside railing you want pressure treated, though. Maybe a local could weld you up some nice metal railing instead of wood? Or even the metal or wood posts with wire is good, too. Y’all must be so excited to be this close! It’s beautiful and you are doing a great job. For the quality of the build, I would guess you’ve saved at least $60,000 by being your own contractor. In FL we used to go do “The Parade of Homes” each year. The half million dollar places on a zero lot line plot so small you could touch two houses at once were crazy. They decorated them beautifully, but then you look closely and see the gaps that shouldn’t be there, the crooked molding, the walls that were crooked, not to mention the fancy roofs that you could see were brand new and already having water issues... I hope you take a lot of pride in the high quality work you’ve done and the crews have done for you 😁

I am actually looking into this. It will depend on whether the lumber needs to be graded and stamped.

I've been with y'all since the old property and I've watched all the bldg vids; however, I'm not a builder so I have a couple of questions......it's time for a Q&A update where you could express what your anticipated move in date (yes I know that would change) and will you ever get back to gardening and canning/cooking vids cause I really miss them? Keep up the great work! Oh, did I miss when you are going to finish the ceiling, I feel like you said what you were waiting on but I've forgotten it.

Hail from the Oil Patch in Central WY! This may sound like a weird question, but I grew up in high humidity country (Western WA) and came of age in super low humidity country (Wyoming) and so when I saw those HUGE Ducting Channels for cooling and heating the VERY first thing that came to mind was the question: Wonder if he's going to insulate those to increase efficiency, lowering heat loss, during cold spells/winter and lowering cooling dissipation during summer? I'm always thinking of ways to reduce heat losses (Wyoming Winters are vicious quite often between -50F to -60F and regular temps at 0F to -30F. Summer we can hit triple digits come late July and certainly August, though 90's are the norm. Looking forward to more and I REALLY hope your well issues are temporary and CHEAP considering how much prep you put into it, and the cost of the well itself. Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY

You guys come up for air now and then. Building a house is rough on a relationship. I've built 3 and a 3600 sq. ft. shop/barn/office the way you guys are doing it, limited contractor, as much as possible yourself. It' easy to miss details when you have them all in your head. Example: In my office I put a water heater for the bath/shower. I bought a 110v ac months before I needed it. I neglected to insure that the electrician wired it 110v, and may have told him to run 220v. Anyway I smoked an element and thermostat. But, it's fixed now. You won't have that problem, but it's just an example of handing something off and not clarifying the details. Stay strong and together.

I know you are not to it yet but a fun idea for the kitchen is to find someone near you that has a laser engraver to turn standard tiles into custom tiles for the kitchens backsplash. Anything from names/family crests to pictures etched into the tiles with the only extra step after install being the need for a sealer even if the tiles wouldn't normally need it. Could buy the laser cutter yourself but then you need to learn the process but the $400 or under cost for a low end CO2 laser cutter/engraver that can do it might be cheaper in the end. Most of the diode lasers don't have the ability to etch glass or ceramics so can't go with those even if they do work for woods and leather.
