The IC-229 I've seen had a green backlight (1997) I don't think it had the bulbs replaced, or it might have had green covers put on the bulbs... Not sure it was too long ago!

Hello, I Still Have one of these radios, I bought used back around 1995 or so, Still works good, Except my display lights are kaput. I had this radio in several vehicles over the years, I now use this radio in my enclosed porch with a power supply, and mobile antenna Just for general chatting or SkyWarn Events. The stock bulbs were HRS-7219A, Which I am sure you know you have to buy a big bag just for 2 bulbs, ( and that's if you can find them). Or you can get 7219's in white and paint them orange, But As much as I loved your videos here, I won't change my bulbs unless someone has 2 they they will sell me. My coin battery is still good as the radio still has memory, However If I need to change the battery, I will change the bulbs as long as the radio is on the surgical table. BTW, Do you know what number battery this is, As I cannot find any info on it. Thanks!

Thanks for the 411, I now see that in the service manual, oops! :) Per the SM the battery listed is: BR2032-1T2 , hope that helps some and thanks for watching and commenting! ~Jack, VEG
