Fantastic, one last request when you have some time is to show how for instance the unit can scan and register channels by itself (if it can do that).. what I mean is like we do on our car stereos you hit a button and the radio scans the FM range 88-108MHz and stores all the channels it receives so that next time you just hit a button to hear your fave radio stations.

I did a CPU reset recently and that also reset the BEEP! The manual doesn't explain in any way that I can understand as to, how to,shut the BEEP off! Do you know how? Can someone explain to me? I've tried a few different things with no success

I will look into that also ... I took note of it ... so there should be a video this week .. 73

What type of antennas do you recommend for a house in the city (Dallas)?

+Richard Almond Richard I use an AOR LA400 Magnetic Indoor Loop which works very well. The loop is only 1 foot in diameter & mounted on a small control box. Also available are an optional set of cable so that the loop can be mounted in a window with the control box on your desk. The loop isn't cheap but it's worth every cent.

Hi again, jonathan from Montreal, contacted you last year. I bought the same equipment ICOM-R8500. I haved it fixed at Elkel in trois-riviere. But noe I think I have a bigger problem but I'm not sure (I cannot even switch bwtween modes - WFM/FM/AM/SSB). The display seems to be stuck in some mode it seems I cannot do anything about it. I'm ready to offer 60$ for one hour of your time if you can hook it up to your antennas and check if it's working properly. regards, jonathan

i want to see this receiver next to a nice matching speaker. but i cant find such a view on net that i can find. i dont understand why anybody wud spend 2100 on a radio and hve an odd speaker. i want to see what it looks with a speaker that looks like it was made for it. i understand icom makes lots of speakers so why no pictures i can find with this receiver?
@OfficialSWLchannel10 жыл бұрын
karl goodwin The matching Icom speakers are way to expensive for what they do ... I am not looking for cosmetic looks on my speaker .. but rather a speaker that really works well .. this has been a speaker I've used for more than 20 years and it's frequency response is excellent for shortwave 73

Hi Gilles! I'm on the process for buying an IC-R8500, I think it will enhance a lot my receiving capabilities in HF and also in V/UHF. I think you should do an updated detailed review/description on your IC-R8500, maybe split into different videos, now that you have more experience in using this receiver. This way I would really know what I can do with my R8500 when I finally have it in my hands! I know you reviewed it on a video but that was several years ago and for sure there are things you didn't mention that you discovered later... 73 from Barcelona! David - EA4998URE SWL

Yes this sounds very well! It would be great to see as well, in detail, how you've set up your R8500 in its current location. Just something I'm very curious for and perhaps I'm not the only one. 73! David - EA4998URE (SWL)
