The möbius strap is named after the way the loop in the end of the strap is formed. Rather than simply folding over the webbing, it is twisted and then folded, thus cresting a "möbius" geometry. A möbius geometry is any surface with one continuous side formed by joining the ends of a rectangular strip after twisting one end through 180°. This is mostly just used in mathematics (möbius strip/ möbius band), but people also make möbius scarves. Thanks for the videos!

+OshawaBushcraft, Yes, I am in Halifax and you would think I would have no problem finding surplus gear, but the one surplus store in the city sells mostly new non-issue gear like Rothco or very poor condition issue and not much of that. Guess I will have to go a little further a field

Fastech buckles will work as replacement buckles. just make sure you get the correct width. these are the same buckles must people use on Alice and Mollie II/ ILBE packs when they are modified or replaced.

Good video, and comprehensive. Thank you. I tried your link for the manual though, and my security software returned the message, "Dangerous Website Blocked . . . known dangerous website". Any idea why?

Just another little tip for anyone needing to find some buckles for these packs they can be cannibalized from other pieces of kit. I got a few spares from an old 1982 pattern butt pack that had failed pretty spectacularly and just cut off all the buckles to use as spares.
