Are you? He’s just citing common anti-choice Bible quotes, most of which are either irrelevant or taken out of context. The “before you formed in the womb, I know you” line, for example, comes from a passage where God is talking to the prophet Jeremiah or Nathan, I forget which, and giving him a mission to be an emissary to the nations. It has nothing to do with gods e stance on whether or not abortion is fine.
@charles1117Ай бұрын
@@Anglomachian Well for that bible verse, it's actually a verse about God's call for Jeremiah (Jeremiah 1:5). It does indicate life begins in God's intention (to make Jeremiah a prophet), and the natural conclusion would be abortion is in fact a defiance to God's will.

He didn't even mass mind control them, or give them all heart attacks. Instead he made Joshua and his army slaughter them, town by town, the men women and children. Cause pointless murder is badass!/s Then there's the flood- worldwide rains that leave a layer of water up to Mt Everest drowning everything. I bet there were a ton of babies who died in that. Correct. We do not know what exactly makes us people or were the boundaries are. It’s not a real factual concept so why should or laws act as if there is some hard start boundary at some point early in pregnancy? We do our best and use lots of varied laws and case by case rules. Like the old “first breath” or “heart beat” or “conception” beach marks for pregnancies. They are nonsense that does lot correlate with any soul or mental capacity or personhood but they are good made up ways to mark time and make our laws easier. A less controversial one is adulthood at 18, not a hard biologically defined number but a useful agreed upon legal tool. For the few transitional periods between person and not a person (pregnancy or dying) we use different laws. For people who are brain dead or with different minds we use diferent rights, often on a case by case basis. Even for CHILDREN we use different laws, they are definitely people, but they don’t get all the same people rights or ethical considerations or autonomy. Either legally or culturally or religiously, we do not often treat children like adults or like their own person. And those are already born, so what justification is there for fetuses? Long dead people, animals, companies or some objects are not people but they get a lot of the same rights as people. It’s almost as if real life is complicated and we need to make do with what laws we got and what our bests guesses and approximations are.

As opposed to... every chrisitian? Cause the bible is contradictory- you have Jesus saying not the least stroke of the pen will be taken from the old (testament) law till heaven and earth end- but then Paul says the old (testament) law will gain you nothing. Note the old testament laws includes such heinous sins as wearing mixed fabrics, doing "work" on Sundays, and eating pork. But those are all overwritten by Jesus. But not the part about male homosexuality being an abomination. That's still in effect.

My opinion is, some people die in child birth so those people should havd the ability to stop that. Also, if someone is so focused on getting an abortion, she's not going to be nice to the kid. What then

Development of Doctrine has been integral to the Catholic Church. When someone wants to change dogma they create a new denomination. That’s why there’s 42,000+
@harrisonlynch4701Ай бұрын
That’s a common misconception. Ready to Harvest made a video explaining that the researchers who created the book on denominations count each instance of a church in a different country as a different church. This means that the Catholic Church alone gets counted like 700 times instead of once. He estimated that there’s really only about 2000 different churches worldwide which is still probably too many.
