That is very true and very critical to any where place of employment
@RS-fy9hb
@RS-fy9hb 3 жыл бұрын
@@Chrisdead27 Yes, but that's not really any type of argument. You don't just fire employees who are late, unless they actually can't make that change in a day or two. If it continues for more than what is acceptable, you definitely fire them, and hire other people, but if the employees are late because you allowed them to do whatever the hell, then don't expect them to make a change without reason to do so. Losing a job should be plenty motivation to want to show up on time, and do a proper job, but the employees need to know that they can actually lose their job, if they don't change.
@RS-fy9hb
@RS-fy9hb 3 жыл бұрын
The owner himself allowed the employees to do so, why wouldn't they continue? The owner needs to pull himself together and actually exert some authority, and warn them about theor behavior, and then also follow through on it. Shit like this is never only on the employees. Sure they allowed themselves to get lazy, but why wouldn't you when you still get the same amount of money, despite not even putting in half the work you usually should have done.

The lady who got fired at the start - I believe her. Nobody gets that upset over a relatively meager amount without a ring of truth, and the owner just appeared utterly indifferent. right: i work at the dog daycare area at the groomers shop cause they do both daycare and grooming. i work from 10 am to 6 pm on monday wensday thurdays and on saturdays from 1 pm to 7 to cleanup the area... i normally clean any dog waste and observe the backyard playarea making sure they dont play ruff... i love my job and my boss is cousin who literaly is my bestie always funny and easy going. at her job she cracks the leash on people who slack. one dude literaly was with 2 female rotties who are literal sweethearts but the catch is that they dont do well with males because of their old living conditions before they were rescued. this guy did not take it seriously i instantly saw him go over to the rotties to let them inside from the yard. they imeadiatley growled at him and i ran and took the leashes from him and this dude yelled at me for taking his job he was doing and im like you need to look at their files and see the notes before you work with those dogs and it clearly says behaves best with a female pack member... my boss heard us yelling and he was blaming this on me she was like ok ok let me talk with her about this... i told her what happened and shes like he could of had his A$$ bit if he went anymore closer to them... she stormed out and asked him to go in to the office and told him how carless he was then took his dog tag off the staff board and dumped it in the trash and said go home your done... if i was not there that day i probally would not be talking about my job because of it being closed down from a injury report and possibly having the dogs be put down also...

It was the way John Taffer approached Wayne that was different. Called him to the office, told him that he wasn't meeting the requirements and why,came to the point, non negotiable,he was fired and wished him luck for the future. He was professional and polite the whole way through. Rene,was dismissive and combative when she dealt with the waitress, who had a legitimate gripe; her cheques were bouncing. Not paying an employee for the hours they have worked is disrespectful and indicative of what she thinks of her staff.

There's a fine line between early and showing up 30 or 60 minutes early, especially if you're relieving someone. You're taking away their shift money because there'd be no reason to have 2 people doing the same job and they're the ones that have to leave and get shorted on their checks. If I was going to be super early because of whatever, I'd always check with the person I was relieving first to make sure that was okay because people depend on a certain amount on their checks. There's a girl I work with (I'm transitioning jobs, so this is the old one I'm leaving) that shows up 30 minutes before anyone else and just sits on her ass doing nothing, that's pretty annoying

Sometimes employees get mistreated and the "professionals" either don't see it, or don't care. I mean I’m not gonna defend the bartender’s attitude but a huge part of the issue stems from the fact that the manager was mismanaging the business to the point that he wasn’t even processing payroll checks like he was supposed to. I can understand employees being pissed off because their payroll checks keep bouncing due to the negligence of management at their workplace. That’s obviously not something that’s good for morale in any work environment.

I have definitely worked places where this is prohibited, but they're in the minority and they're generally not great places to work. If you work dinner in a typical restaurant, you're on the floor from like 4:30-10 or 11, without a break. It's not uncommon to order something to eat during a slowdown, and most decent restaurants offer discounted or comped food for staff. This was clearly for television drama more than anything else.

I’ve had several long shifts where I’ve had to let my food go cold. Can’t blame the guy for taking a couple bites. It seems to me they were just trying to prove a point and he was the easy target. Also regarding time theft, server wages are typically much lower than minimum wage. Federal server minimum wage is $2.13 an hour. Even if he took 20mins to eat his whole meal, it would cost the restaurant 71 cents. Not to say it isn’t time theft, but is that really worth firing somebody where a warning would do?

@@fayezentner619 It's common to eat on the clock in restaurants. You generally work during all meal times, so eventually you have to eat. It's not remotely uncommon to have discounted or comped food on shift at some point. Some kitchens even do more formal prepared meals for staff and eat together, on the clock, before or after opening or closing. This varies place to place, but having worked ten years in restaurants from greasy spoons to fine dining, feeding your staff who work through meal times is generally a good, cheap way to keep people happy and retain staff in an industry where keeping staff long term is incredibly difficult.

Kervin really went on a minor power trip the second after firing Mario. All Leila did was express how she was shocked that she was working with a person like that, and he immediately accused her of also stealing because "they made out in the parking lot" one time he saw. This guy is an idiot for not firing Mario immediately and then insulting the integrity of another bartender

That would never happen. Ramsay respects the industry. Taffer just wants to scream and throw food like a child and create drama for TV. He just likes being in control and holding his help above the person's head until they crack and do whatever he wants. I feel like Mario fell flat of the "landmark firing" Jon wanted. He was given a brief second chance until the owner was put on the spot and all the other employees said if it were them he'd be fired. That doesn't quite send the message that you're in charge and everyone is going to be held accountable, which was the point to begin with.

I'd have fired him and his girlfriend. If she's in a relationship with him, as she obviously is, she can skim off the top for him, she's a loose end, so fire them both to make an example, theft of time or money will NOT be tolerated.

@sammycampbell1654 3 жыл бұрын
@@flyboy6392 THAT is a landmark firing. Like I said, this owner dropped the ball when he initially offered to give one more chance. The whole point was to make somebody's head roll that nobody saw coming... as a former restaurant manager, I can attest that it works wonders, most of the time... especially when taking over a different store and employees that haven't met you yet. (I know, not the case here.) My point was, I'm here because the way thing were being done were wrong and not working, so I have to change things. Personally, I liked to get one cook, one server, and one hostess gone within 48 operating hours (3 days). 7 times out of 10, the one with the most "seniority" was the one to go. They get a mentality that "I've been here longest, my poop don't stink." They rarely are willing to change what needs to be changed. Stuck in their ways. Sending those ones packing sends a clear message that I'm in charge now, which was needed because the person before me generally wasn't. It also has a way of weeding out the bad seeds too. They generally would be so loyal to the person being fired, that they'd just quit. Now you bring in fresh faces and attitudes, and the staff becomes energized. I say most of the time... and based on my experiences. I know... its not always the case though

I disagree. "Starved". There is a reason people get lunch breaks. If he worked an 8hr shift and didn't eat on his lunch break or his other breaks then that's his fault. No reason to be eating when you aren't supposed to, because you're not being paid to eat and waste time. He did seem like a good kid he just wasn't educated properly in how to behave at the workplace. Many people are like that nowadays.

If you can’t find something, ask a manager or a fellow worker what needs to be done or if you can help with anything and you will get a list of items that need attending.
