Bar Rescue

3 жыл бұрын

A lot of time, resources, and energy go into every Bar Rescue. When Jon Taffer and team leave, the bar is back in its owners hands and, it turns out, the owners often undo a lot of that hard work. From changing back names to not using a brand new kitchen, these are the most shocking Bar Rescue: Back To The Bar discoveries.
#BarRescue #ParamountNetwork
Jon Taffer embarks on a cross-country tour of the worst drinking establishments in America. Bad drinks, wild staffs, and wasted owners conspire against him and his experts as they give failing businesses one last shot at success.

@@Nedula007 it’s 100% legit. John Taffer even stated that it was real not script or anything when someone recorded him when he was rescuing a bar.

Some of these people don’t actually want Taffer’s help. They have their bar and they know that what they’re doing can work (or at least they think that). They really just want the publicity. I don’t know if they pay for being on the show, but it’s advertising. The remodel is frosting, and a fair amount don’t really want it (which is why they don’t stick to it). Like the one woman said, it attracts curiosity seekers, so just being on the show can boost sales (if even for a while). While these shows are fun (just like Kitchen Nightmares), they’re largely futile. It’s almost impossible to rescue a failing bar. The bar’s reputation is already trashed and an appearance on TV, showing how incompetent the staff is and how disgusting the kitchen is, will do very little in the long run to repair it. You can fix a bar. You can’t fix people if they don’t want fixed. And a lot of them don’t.

I can't tell you how pissed off I was at Terry that whole episode. The dude threw everyone under the bus except himself, refused to commit to Jon's help because he claimed he didn't have the money (even though he owned a second business), and the WORST offense of all time he disrespected Lisamarie Joyce. A close friend of mine bought a bar 7 years ago. They had a real great kitchen. Nice and big and good equipment. After Covid he closed it because he wasn’t able to make enough off of it to pay the two cooks. And on busy band nights it tied up the waitress and bartenders to much to take orders. It is a tough thing and have to find a balance. Especially now with 20 and 30 somethings not being willing to work. I do the grill at our VFW for years now. Some nights can do a thousand dollars. But half the time it is zero to 50 bucks. I would love to get some of the wonderful equipment Jon brings for our VFW. But Jon makes most these folks pay for the renovations, if he does them and pay for kitchen equipment. He gets folks to give one year free software and junk like that. But if place keeps it they are stuck paying for it and that is if the company still in business.

I pretty much don't even eat at restaurants and haven't for many years. Back in the last century, I hired on to manage a Mrs Fields cookie store. I started walking through the store and as soon as I open the walk-in refrigerator, I see mold growing from the floor halfway up the wall to the ceiling. I then go look at the meat slicer because the store also was like a deli that sold cold sandwiches like roast beef and ham and cheese and things of that nature. Well the meat slicer was on a rolling cart over by the wall and as I roll the cart out away from the wall I immediately see food art 😏 because nobody in this business would roll the meat slicer away from the wall after using it to where all the shavings from the meat would end up on the wall 🙄. I then look at the meat slicer specifically and the front of the slicer was clean and then I turned it around and looked at the back side of the blade and saw where the wall art was coming from because there was about 2 in of old dried meat on the back of the blade that had been accumulating for probably at least 6 months. Now I'm with the district manager and I asked him what was going on and he told me that it was their policy that if one of their restaurants was shut down by the health department that it was no big deal because they would shut down for 24 hours and bring in two employees from each of their other stores in the area which meant there would be about 10 employees in there to do an all night clean job on the restaurant to where the next day the health department would pass it and then it would be back to business as usual until the next time that the health department shut them down 😱. I told him if that was policy then count me out. You would be shocked at what goes on in name brand bakeries and restaurants all across America. I'll be nice though I won't tell you about what really goes into bologna and hot dogs 🤣🤣🤣

The main issue is the financial aspect, not his changes. In most of these bars that are failing, their “regulars” are the people that take advantage of the drunk/stupid owners and get shit for free. With a lot of these bars having hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt by the time John steps in, its impossible to save them, especially with the way some of the owners act. The two in my city both closed. One, the guy reverted the name change right away and the place was a craphole before and it became that way again. I played dart teams at the place and got sick after eating there. And I knew of one person working there selling drugs out of the place. It closed eventually. It has since been bulldozed and now is not even a bar anymore. The other bar had so many calls to the police and issues (failing the city's yearly sting on underage drinking) they had their liquor license suspended for weeks at a time as punishment. They finally sold the place and the new owners tried to clean up the rep and change the name but the same people kept going there and they too had police calls to the bar. Eventually they closed because they couldn't handle the issues. If only the two places had done better and either kept the changes or in the case of the latter one, kick out the troublemakers that kept returning.
