It's not all about your own happiness either. You'll never be happy always trying to serve yourself. That one thing missing is not doing things for others. Of course there's no such thing as altruism. It's all self serving in the end, but people need that. There's no way around it. This "Do things for just you" bullshit plaguing the internet is having the opposite effect it's meant to

I feel like every time I need to hear something, whether it's to reinforce something I already know or to learn something from scratch, it pops up in my recommended section from this channel. Two days ago, I lost my grip of myself and was out of control, and now that I'm back under control this pops up. A healthy reminder not to push past the breaking point every time just because I feel like I shouldn't break when I do. Slowing down and acknowledging I'm not Superman despite how much I want to be, isn't something to be ashamed of or down on myself for, and while I know it in my mind, it doesn't hurt to hear someone else say it. I know it wasn't made for me, but thank you for putting this out there, Dwayne. It's greatly appreciated.

@@ruck27 Thank you. It's a boy. With a zest for life that I love to see. After 2 years of never slowing down, I took a couple days during the holidays to fully relax and be with my family. And I realized I wasn't being a person that I wanted to be and I wasn't appreciating the beautiful things I had right in front of me in my life. I've been trying to make things better for us. But in that process I guess I got lost a bit. I'm still gonna try and make things better, but aim to not have an aneurism while making my effort. And to not make everyone's lives around me unhappy. So I think this year is gonna be different/better than last year. Thanks a lot to these videos. I don't think I would have come to this conclusion without them. There are a lot of younger men out here scrambling around trying to learn out how we're supposed to act. We're just trying to be good. We've got people barking at us telling us we need to become millionaires because the world is about to end. And that if you don't you're a loser who failed his family and that they're all going to basically suffer and die. When i'm older, I just think i'd rather be like Dewayne than the guys barking at me. And i'm not so sure I believe that the world is ending anymore. At least, it's not ending anymore than it always has been.

1st time commenting here. As a professional driver crossing US and Canada Ocean to Ocean and in between, learn to control what you can control. Don’t spend much time on things you can’t. The storm you’re looking at…. And where your starting in Wyoming, maybe go North up 25 to Billings MT and I -94. Least busy interstate in N. America. The storm is south of that region. By the time you get to Fargo, ND and turn South the roads will have recovered from winter maintenance. Or, just wait it out. Easy peasy. And for what it’s worth from an ole cowboy to another some logic. “Remember, it’s alright to ride for the brand, but don’t let the Brand,…brand you!” I really do enjoy your channels. Be safe my brother in Christ.

@@devinbartley5768It means the same thing but despite consuming a variety of different American content all these years, I've never heard an American say it before, so a lot of Brits would see it as a British thing only. In the U.K, 'knob head' is more brash & impolite than saying something like 'lemon-head' or idiot. 'Knob' is also a colloquial term for penis here too.

More often than not, it turned out alright, and the time and energy I spent fretting was just a big waste. Your wife accepting who you are is also a good lesson for younger women out there who think that everything and everyone has to be a perfect specimen with no flaws. Was getting this way earlier this fall. My girlfriend suggested getting away by myself for a few days. I listened. Found a small remote cabin on a lake about 6 hrs away on VRBO. Just a wood stove, no electricity, no cell phone. Packed my fishing poles, cooler of steak and eggs, water, couple books and my Bible. Spent a lot of time reading, praying, fishing and just relaxing for those 4 days of silence. My gf said I was a different person when I got back. Take the time for yourself my friend. It's well worth it. I'll probably do this every year from now on.

It's easier to walk away. But with people I care about more, the ability to stop that negative spiral is more difficult. Sometimes I can breathe and walk away but for whatever reason in those situations it's harder. Fortunately this is a situation that is not lacking awareness. this is probably one of the most important advices to give to young folks... the problem with saying "the most important thing is consistency," or "the most important thing is discipline," is that doesn't teach us how to deal with failure it's hard to tell yourself you'll start being consistent and then fail - you don't really know how to deal with that fact. that happens a lot in the battle of self-improvement - you don't fully understand that you can't flip a switch and be consistent, you can't flip a switch and be disciplined you will fail so even if you failed today, learn to be ok with that, and try again tomorrow if you fail tomorrow, the next day is a new opportunity... and so on... keep fighting, every day is a new day to get on track, there's no such thing as too late today is the first day of your life, and as Dewayne wisely said: if not today, then tomorrow

Really been working these past few years to get it under control. And like you I've never hit a woman, but I've certainly raised my voice and slammed my share of things. What I didn't really understand until very recently, is just how hard that energy that I cultivate during those episodes, lands on those that I love. It's truly a terrible thing. I feel like I am getting better at catching it. I still stumble, but I'm regaining my footing quicker. Thanks for sharing that. Sometimes just knowing that you're not the only man out there who struggles with such things is a big help. Thanks. I haven't checked out the new channel yet but I'm headed over to do that right now. Thanks again I needed this, I'm gonna relax a bit today and get back to it tomorrow. In Jesus name, God bless you and your family in this next chapter of life. Be strong and of a good courage.

Here is one my “ism’s” I use on myself when times are rough, fatigue setting in and not enough time to do any of it. “SIT ON YOUR HANDS” I tell myself . Do not react at all. No decisions are to be made and I just stay still. I focus my thoughts and emotions. I think with a heart of gratitude, enjoy a smoke or drink. Most of my problems have been solved by not reacting in the moment and letting it marinate. Love the channel and content.

Thanks Dewayne. Being able to detach, take perspective, and defer a problem for later is a skill that needs to be honed. This too shall pass. Cheers, from Virginia.

This is a great message! Somehow, I'm good at giving this advice to my wife - you don't have to do everything today, we can do it tomorrow. But for myself, I think there is a perceived weakness in following the same advice - if a man said he'd do it today, he must do it, no matter what. If he doesn't, he will be seen as weak or unreliable. Which of course causes huge stress when there are factors I can't control in play.

It’s always a pleasure watching your videos, Mr. Noel. When I find myself in the situations you mentioned, I usually stop to enjoy a good cigar, coffee, or another drink to pair with it, and 100% of the time, I watch your videos to learn more about life. Warm regards from Max, here in Brazil. Keep the journey going with the strength you’ve always had!

Thank you man! I really enjoyed your Bible talk episode and it encouraged me… I also had to postpone a trip this weekend from pinedale to Casper because of the roads and it felt good to take it slow…. We’re running too fast and too hot on America and our hearts can’t handle it.

I appreciate your message today Dwayne hey I started watching you 3 years ago since I’ve lived in this place and it’s been the most challenging place I’ve ever experienced in my life and I’ve dealt with anger more than ever in my life and figuring out how to diffuse before it bubbles over. It really sucks to explode and say things you don’t really mean or end up speaking harsh words at all I’m a peaceful person and I’ve been tested in ways it’s just..been quite the learning experience and for me at 41 years I appreciate you telling about dealing with these things makes me feel a little less like crap about it but I still take responsibility and yes, we are seeing a misrepresentation of life at times and does no good to compare our own lives to anything…thank you for the words of wisdom.

Thank you !! Been struggling since 05' becoming a widow. Then felt called to move from VA to AK, for good in 2016. Been through cruel/abusive business & personal relationships. Upside down on house build due to 3 separate contractors, w/ signed contracts, doing little, taking the $$ & ghosting me. Been in " Survival mode" since 05. So nerves, & muscles tense , always on high alert. So trying to do as you explained. Slow down, notice the stress building, let it out while alone, then try to proceed. Problems occur when I have different caring people trying to help me sort through all the BS, that I fall apart emotionally. Used to be in flight/ fight mode since abusive childhood. But, all those years are taking a toll on my body, showing up medically for last 3 yrs. Muscles refuse to relax. Been in Freeze mode since fall of 22' . All things that happened were out of my control. No matter how I tried to pray, meditate, think through all scenarios before making a decision, it always turned out to be just another wounding, falling deeper into the pit. Not a quitter so somehow, I get back up & try the upward/ forward climb. But now, will turn 65 this Summer. Getting to tired & painful to keep trying. Hope 2025 is a turn around year for everyone struggling. Especially everyone affected by the storms. The interior of Alaska, is having a 7 day storm coming of wintery mix , w/ alot of rain, melting the compacted foot of snow mix already on the ground. Freezing Temps every night converting all to ice. Yuck ! Can't fight Mother Nature, she wins everytime !! Hope you & yours, as well as all are blessed with safe travels, happy ,healthy, & prosperous life journeys in 2025.😊

Dewayne your openness, realness, and ability to communicate what’s on your mind in a clear way is highly respectable. The amount of thought and care you put into talking with us is apparent to me, and really resonates with people who seek having that sort of peace and advice in their lives. Thank you for making a positive difference in the world, and in my life.

Love those down to earth wise ramblings. New here and you got that way of life I was made for but have yet to find. Greatly enjoying getting a little older every day. You paint beautiful meaningful pictures with words the same way as I do, even if it confuses a lot of folks. Following the path of wisdom has never been easy but this life aint about being easy and things are changing.

The best thing I have done in my life as a 23 year old is find my morals and understand that all we have in this life is each other. Loneliness is a huge killer. You get lost in your thoughts. You talk yourself out of everything. You sit online and absorb all of this negativity, hate, and fake success... but.... you can only hold so much. Just like a glass of water... and once you are overflowing, you have no choice but to expel that negativity from your body. Everyone does this differently and unfortunately it mostly ends in self harm or putting hate back out there to continue the cycle. Men need a purpose and a goal to pursue. You have a vocational purpose (making this world a better place) and a spiritual purpose (finding self love, fulfillment, raising a family....).. make sure you tend to both. We have not only the gift of testosterone and relentless grit, but the gift of our soul. Do NOT ignore it. Young men... once school and college is no more... its all on you to go and make yourself happy. This world does not know how to care for you or appreciate you unfortunately. That to me has been the hardest part of being a young man. You just kinda get tossed out there and have to make it happen. Some do, some don't. I just want to be able to lay on my deathbed and be happy with what I have done with my time. Idle time is the devil's workshop. Do something. Anything. Who knows......

To be honest, how does one even get idle time after school ends and you have to earn a living? Looking at our modern life, something feels not right, like a crucial piece is missing. Sure, everyone’s is different. I find the pauses in between not doing something and just thinking can be the most anxious moments. Was it always like this? How can we find the missing piece? Ah it doesn’t matter anyway

Dewayne, just remember this polar vortex is covering me in Canada, down to you, in Wyoming in ice this week, & those in Texas in some snow. You are not alone. There are many folks who are delayed or frustrated that can relate to this useful video. What a blessing that your son can help you move. Have a safe, smooth trip to Kentucky. You'll get there, whenever you get there. Also, while you maybe driving safely, doesn't mean other drivers give a flying fig (or know how to drive in icey conditions) ... best to avoid those folks! 😅

Knowing when to step away, and rein in your stress is an art form.As a younger man, I also could only get myself under control AFTER I got wound up and snapped. Thankfully I’ve nearly mastered knowing when I need a few to have a chill. Thanks for making videos. I appreciate these videos where it feels like we’re just BS’n with a friend. Good luck with the weather, and your move.

Hey Dwayne. I’ve commented before. We’re same age. Same temperament as well. Retired city fireman 30 yrs specializing in technical rescue. People hanging off buildings and caught under heavy things. My job taught me: Always have a plan B and a plan C. Sometimes D. I can’t escape that mindset even though I’m not at work anymore. Things going right is rare. I get on theological arguments on TikTok at 430 am drinking coffee since sleep evades me. Sometimes it ruins my whole day. The world has lost its ever loving mind Btw the Donner Party could’ve used your advice 🤔

I don't have years of service under my belt but as someone from a younger generation, I'd gloss over any and all comments on social media apps like Instagram and TikTok (especially TikTok). Oftentimes they're just baiting responses and it's not worth a single thought. The things you see and read on those apps are not representative of the real world and you'd be better off refusing to acknowledge that they exist.
