Don't poo-poo the night-time abilities of machine gun and drone station. In the demo, at least, they were possibly some of the strongest damage dealers. Also, I think it's an oversight not to upgrade the guard's gun damage as they represent a significant source of DPS at a time when the aliens are sitting still and bombarding the core. Nice, long episode. I approve. :)

Would love to see more of this, you've barley scratched the surface! Mastering night mining is a must for later levels, I often have my miners going all night. Would love to see you get more of the upgrades and develop your platform!

The rocket watchtower seems to hit things outside their lane, so doubling up on the middle of both sides might be a good idea. Also: putting laser towers at the bottom is a good idea, since they do extra damage vs hurt enemies. The mines are also very good down where the enemy stands still, like the bottom They shoot out mines pretty fast too.

The mines came out fast, but they lingered at the turret and drifted over in a glacial pace. The dps dropped like a stone after the initial burst, with the machine gun type turret buffed also, the latter was the better option.

34:53 The Drone Carrier building is quite nice as the drones can haul stuff back even during retreat order, if you activated them just before that, and will not care about the worms. (You just have to pay attention to not activate them if all your carriers have the remaining ores in hand since if those drop stuff after the activation, and retreat order (it is better to order them manually to retreat), will not consider those resources and might not even be sent out. Also having more than one building can be wasteful, IMO, as the 1st gives two drones but the further ones will only provide one more drone.) 38:00 Yikes. Those poor miners. All because their foreman couldn't keep from talking to himself (calling it something YouTubing or other crazy stuff). 😥 And the foreman doesn't even notice that they got chomped on...😅 01:02:10 15 turrets only it seems. And the enemies spawning further down the shaft really are just them spawning at the same distance as they did from your last turret line before at 150m. If they continued spawning at the top it would likely take more PC resources and/or coding. BUT the biggest thing about that would be the vocal minority leaving reviews and Steam forum posts without end about the enemies taking so long to get killed because they start so far away. 😅 01:16:10 A little warning: The visibility/heal tech tree is either the top OR bottom row, you can NOT get both. Buttons massaged for further Drill expeditions, your Dapperness!

1:28:30 Given that the bars don't cost any Swarmlit even on higher levels and you were swimming in Iron, getting the 5 iron discount for being low over the 2 swarmlit discount seems... suboptimal. Also raises the question of whether it makes sense to, once you reach these lower depths, delete your labs and rebuild them higher up, because they didn't seem to ever start costing Swarmlit...

Excellent point! Rearranging the buildings are an overlooked strategy, especially when the cost of the buildings have such a wide variety depending on the height they're built on.

Thanks Aavak! The variety of weapons available in the game certainly gives a lot of flexibility, as far as play styles go. A lot of them do seem fairly underwhelming though. I bet the later turrets get pretty neat. I might pick the game up to see.

Buffing all or some are better than for the one, none of them was so OP that they warranted the attention. But it was better to have the option if there wasn't a possibility to expand the platform floors higher than the assumed 3 levels.

We need snacks and pet distractions at every recording session, as the long form videos has had their renaissance in the algorithm! Super and hypercuts of 8 or more and 24 or more hours are trending better than the episodic content they're built upon. So many content creators double dip their series, making hours long videos of their completed series when they are completed!

Oh, no, an extra long Drill Core episode from Aavak... Anyways 😄 Aavak, It seemed to me that especially as the enemy waves got tougher towards the end, there were many instances of groups of large monsters bunching up in front of your core as they increasingly seeped through your higher defenses. Maybe favouring splash damage turrets on your lower level defense would make sense in those instances so that you may damage those bunched up targets all at once for each splash damage shot. Particular for the lower levels is that the enemies all stop moving to attack your core and thus tend to bunch up, so I'd say take advantage of that fact. I will pray St. Algorithmus for subsequent episodes so that the efficacy of this theory may be tested.

Near the end, it seemed like you were more annoyed by the underground miner building and the underground enemy laser building, I wonder if you could have put their resources to better use in a different building? Also, if you're long on iron and short on Swarmlit you can put Swarmlit using buildings at the bottom where they cost less and Iron-only buildings up higher.

As an avid fan of the tower defense genre, I'd say the the mines should be at the bottom as they are practically useless any where else. At the top is where you want to focus on weapons that deal AOE and /or status effects. Instead of single target weapons.

Unless they changed things from the Demo, the various "Weapon Catalyzers" are a waste of money and space. They only increase turret speed by roughly 6% (i forget the exact value but its around 6%) Which is highly inefficient both from a space prospective, and a cost prospective.

honestly the turret expander seemed kinda like u just had a placebo button, as the vast majority of the time the turrets weren't even shooting something beyond their own muzzle, feels like any of the other day or nightime abilities probably wld have helped more (deffo agree that the view range kinda renders the block revealer and radar a bit useless

You put the minefields in the wrong location, they should be at the halfway point so the enemy runs into a fully spawned minefield if they manage to pass your first line and you need to maximise use of gun turrets as you have the catalyser.

i know, you won't read this bevor recording the next episode... but please... do not underestimate the power of the actual machinegun-turret, especially if you upgrade it. it will get rid of many of those smaller targets, so the powerful cannons can concentrate on the bigger ones you set priority
