I have the ioniq 5 and it’s by far the worst car I’ve ever owned. The software is buggy and I don’t mean the infotainment system, I mean that the car will slam the breaks on when trying to reverse out of my drive quickly because it thinks I’m about to hit something (even though I’m not), in the last 18 months I’ve had to get someone out to jump start the car as the battery has FULLY died (car is a brick, doors won’t even unlock) because there is a fault in the charging circuit software (supposedly patched now but has happened again since) and two weeks ago my wife was driving and all of the doors just locked up entirely, she couldn’t physically get out of the car via the doors, she was only able to get out because the boot opened and she was able to climb out, she also had to get back into the car via the boot. Randomly, when she got home, the doors were now fine. Terrible machine.

Yes but a car needs to be versatile when it comes to the things you can do range wise as standard. So like a gas cars, you need to be able to drive to and from work or maybe even super market. But you also need to be able to take longer trips and drive hundreds of km without thinking about how much % you have in the tank, again like a gas cars. I am all for electric cars, but currently I have a gas car and I never have to think about how much gas I have in a tank because it can fit so much benzine in it. That, alongside the fact that these super charging stations are not everywhere and are still in the process of being at every charging station is what stops me from buying one at the moment. Unfortunately right now, only the most most expensive cars like Tesla (and even more Lucid) that come the closest to a gas cars in terms of range. @@EnricoBrandt I kid you not, I was watching a short from CarWow earlier today that went over the Skoda Superb. That's one very well appointed vehicle. I'd buy it in a heartbeat as a wagon EV.

As a hot hatch enthusiast who’s owned a MK7 GTI and now I own an FK8 Type R, the Ioniq 5N is actually incredibly fun and fast. Definitely not a car I’d own as my only vehicle, but would be a kick a** second car as a daily for commuting to work.

The fact that this car does not offer electric seats is just a joke. Yeah yeah sporty car bla bla. It‘s 2.5 tons. Just add it. My girlfriend is more than a head shorter than me. Memory seats are a must 🙄 especially since the normal Ioniq 5 offers them

As an owner of 5N, who actually drives at the track pretty hard, this is not for someone who’s just looking for a fun EV on the street. Unless you are planning to drive on a track, you’re better off with other cheaper EV that can do 95% of what 5N does at fraction of the cost. Only reason I bought 5N is to replace my track car(c6 z06) and my daily(Model Y LR) to make space for motorcycles 😂. Yes. The Ioniq 5N is slower and less engaging than c6 z06 and has less range than Model Y LR but it can fulfill both role pretty damn well.

They aren't really "unreasonably" expensive, they are just expensive. R&D and manufacturing vehicles cost a ton of money, the price point makes sense, even if it's wildly out of the range of "affordable" for a lot of people.

For real anyone who buys this is a real sucker: if you wanna be this close to the edge of innovation it is gonna cost you and in a year or two the new one will make you wish you waited. I can’t afford a ioniq and my 4090 payments.

I'm there with you. I live paycheck to paycheck. I drive a regular cab '96 Tacoma right now. It cost me $2,200. I've spent about $5K on keeping it going over the last 7 years. The thought of spending $66,000 on a car is hard to even imagine for me.
@the_undeadАй бұрын
What is unreasonably expensive about this car? Electric motors are expensive. Batteries are expensive. Modern cars with all the safety features are expensive, even when you're using tried and true internal combustion engines, now out on top of that all the extra stuff that Hyundai did for this vehicle. And they could probably sell this for $40,000. But then how the hell are they going to fund all the engineers to develop more vehicles? If it's not the right vehicle for you then just don't buy it

If you put the key inside the Fob, chances are, you could either lose it (the one's that come out of the fob as an independent piece) or not be able to put it into the door side key-hole due to the Fob's unusually large size (for the kind that are not detachable from the Fob) as the car has pop out door handles.

I will NEVER buy an all electric vehicle until the manufactures start posting charging times and ranges at low temperatures. For example what is the charge time and range at -10, -20, -30, -40. Yes I understand in Vancouver it doesn't matter.
@apekatt2007Ай бұрын
I have owned EV's for 7 years and have charged them on public chargers less than 10 times in all those years. You charge when you sleep, and have full battery every morning. With the latest Tesla's, you can go over 1000 kilometers on 20 minutes of charging given you leave from home fully charged, so what's really the issue? Edit: And I live in the cold part of Norway. EV's during winter is epic! Always starts and heats up in a few minutes. The range cap due to cold climate ia heavily over exaggerated by EV haters. You basically do not feel any limitations
@villipendАй бұрын
@@apekatt2007 Then the manufacturers should post the information. What's the issue?

Why do you need to know the charge times at -40? Why are you going over 200 km when it's that cold? Also where do you even live where it gets that cold?
@apekatt2007Ай бұрын
@villipend Why? If you navigate to a supercharger, you automatically enable preheating of the battery. At least on proper EVs. Never had slow charging on Tesla's at least, and I have charged at -30. Why exactly are you constructing bullshit scenarios, lol? With EVs, you wake up with preconditioned batteries, heated steering wheel, seats and coupe, loving your life, regardless if it's -50 degrees
