I'm 18, just started college and yes its not what I imagined. I found peace in thinking maybe life would get better during my master's, once i become financially independent...all things you mentioned. It really is eye opening that, that's not gonna happen ever, if I DON'T CHANGE MY OUTLOOK TODAY. Thankyou so much.

Thank you, Poppy. I am going to play this to my final-year students. You are lucky to find this wisdom at your age. I came to a similar conclusion not earlier than a few months after my fiftieth birthday, which happened quite recently. Yet, I am glad that I made it, at last!🙂 Enjoy every moment; have a word with a tree, compliment a morning sky or sunset, and stop to appreciate the air you breathe. Happy now, lady!

So true. As a 60+ year old, I can confirm how important it is to be happy in your now. You can be happy without life being perfect. Waiting to be happy until you accomplish your next goal is an illusion.

Gratitude in the present is so important, even when we are striving for more in the future. The small moments and wins are so special but also so easy to miss if we don't take the time to acknowledge them. This is our reminder to be present ❤

Hey Poppy thanks for reiterating the message of trying to live in the moment, and be appreciative for the positives we have going for us. I've stated previously that I've been going through a new life struggle dealing with the onset of eye floaters the past year. I essentially lost a year of my life thus far not doing the things I used to love out of fear, and anxiety. And I think that's led to my vision now displaying some other symptoms recently. Glad you made this video, and I stumbled upon before I went to bed here in Macao. Was exercising an hour before outside, and after my workout I sat on a bench thinking long, and hard about my future so to speak. My lovely wife, and 7 year old boy. What you reminded me of is the progress I've at least tried to make in other areas despite all that's happened. Focusing on the present, and not longing for yesteryear or catastrophizing tomorrow is the way I should live. Anything to prevent the darkness from closing in. Much love friend. Cheers. ❤

Wow. This hit home from start to finish. In 2020, I made a plan to achieve all my major goals (salary, marriage, car, etc.) and by 2022 I achieved it all. Yet, I was still left feeling like something was missing. Just like you mentioned at 2:20 I felt unfulfilled as well. I would pray to Jesus a lot about it, thinking there was something wrong with me or maybe I was being ungrateful. I had done everything right by going to college, getting a good job, and having my life in order and always planning for the future. But I need to live in the “right now.” This current moment. I’m going to take some time to practice living in the moment. I’m missing out on what today could bring because I’m so worried about tomorrow or next year. I’ve spent all my life planning for the future that I forgot to enjoy the present. This truly was a message from God because it was something I’ve been praying about for a long time but this just hit something in my soul seriously. Thank you 💕🙏🏽

It's true. Life passes by while you are fixated on the goals. It's so sad. However, it is not so easy to get out of this mental loop. What to do with that, therapy?
@reinventingpoppy18 күн бұрын
The most effective way for me is to be very self aware. As soon as I start to realise I'm upset not reaching the goals or fixate too much on those goals I take a deep breath and divert my attention to other things/people those are important and come back to the goals again at later time.

I have a question for you Poppy. You spoke about never being fulfilled in your work in the UK despite earning a very good salary. My question is.. Can you ever be fulfilled in something you don't own or were the person behind 'its' creation?
@reinventingpoppy24 күн бұрын
I think it depends on a person but for me I don't think I can. I genuinely just enjoy the process of producing, making something out of nothing, solving problems creatively, watching either my creation grows or the people in my care grows. I'm sure there are some jobs that is able to give that to someone but I haven't come across any as close in my working career. What do you think?
