Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 56 years ago today. I grew up in RURAL Illinois. Only lights were inside of our house. NO street lights in our very small town. My father was diagnosed in 1957/58 and my paternal grandmother in 1923/24. Both had Type 1 diabetes. We were NEVER exposed to excessive lights at nighttime. I think there is some correlation with viruses and definitely a genetic component in Type 1 diabetes.

He is talking mainly concerning type 2 type 1 you are borne with it may just take longer to manifest itself in some but not others no 2 people are exactly the same.

It sounds like he’s addressing the increase in cases. The genetic component would not conflict with this information.

I started having troubles when I was pregnant with my child. No. three. I felt like dying. Everything was heavy and it was hard to rise and shine in the morning time. I was sickly all nine months that felt like a year of hard times. l was found having cancer afterward and everything was hard for me. But I survived thank you.

I don't think its artificial lights are mostly at fault... some people who are in the same situation and environment still can maintain good health. I'm diabetic myself, but I blame it on my lifestyle choices and the working environment I'm exposed to... I notice that a change of certain habits can help with the risk of most common health issue. But it's still interesting to know about this research... thanks for the upload Doc..

So what can be done when someone has dysautonomia that has trashed their circadian rhythm? Yes, I am taking melatonin. Some nights up to 40mg of melatonin (I take the 10mg strength) although my neuro has said that up to 60mg is safe along with other meds that "are" supposed to cause drowsiness (yeah, they aren't doing that). I do make sure to keep my room dark and somewhat cool along with using my cpap (dysautonomia has caused central sleep apnea) and make sure that my blood sugar is at a good level when I take my night meds. In short- in a 7 day time span I'm lucky to get 20hrs of sleep despite making my schedule as conducive for sleep as possible and nothing is helping.

I sleep at night with two lamps on. I flatlined but ended up surviving after being bit by a brown recluse spider in 1983. I know this is almost 2023 but just last year, I was bitten in the chest by another one. I feel like it is more dangerous for me to sleep in a dark room. This video is keeping me awake thinking about it. I am a 66 year old man with Type11. My A1c improved from 6.9 to 6.4 after following your advice about eating habits, sugar, other carbs, and alcohol.
