From someone that had no stamina at all and improved notably here: basically push your limits, get uncomfortable, do always a little bit more, a bit faster, and be consistent. Train at least 3x per week (1h minimum). That´s if you´re a recreational player like me with a regular job, etc. Divide the session into sprints, jogging, drills, control, shoots, passes, etc. Do everything WITH the ball. There is no point training without the ball if you want to play football, unless you need to build muscle, then hit the gym. My 2 cents.

I wish I could do that. I just did a walk/run 22 minute for 2.8k and that was a pb for me. (Might have been able to do better 20 years ago but never recorded it). I will be happy if I ever get to the point of covering that distance regular without walking, never mind the time taken. Been looking at videos to improve breathing and technique. Hopefully will improve. Next barrier targeted is sub 20 minutes or run 1 mile without droping to a walk. Best so far is 1km.

Great input, thanks. About the running part, a great way to really up stamina quickly is running up a mountain with at least 400 vertical meters. Just try to run as much as you can and walk if you are exhausted. The first goal is to be able to run the whole time. After that start beating the clock. It is hard, but totally worth it.

I run about 45 minutes on the treadmill at a 6.0-6.5 by just jogging, and then once I hit 45 minutes I take a 5 minute walk on the treadmill at 3.5, and then once the 5 minutes up, I finish out those 10 minutes by jogging at a 6.5.. it’s all about breathing thru your nose, don’t pay attention to the time, just focus, I run about 6 miles 1 day, then I take a break for 1 day and then do the same thing the next to give me legs enough time to heal from the heavy training, run for at least 1hr, and you will improve your stamina

I can't stress how important not smoking is. I'll give an example from myself. I don't smoke anything but I'm overweight about 10 kg (20lbs) with 26-27% body fat. So I'm not a specimen of any kind. We were playing football with friends today. Most of them smoke. At the end of 60 minutes, I was the only one who was sprinting up and down the pitch full speed while most weren't even moving a lot. So quitting smoking will have the greatest impact. Although, I doubt someone watching this video would smoke😂

HIIT is the absolute best for improving stamina. Do not use a set number of intervals or a set speed or incline just use trial and erroe. Find your maximum speed that you can sustain for 30 seconds using either a small incline or on a level ground. Once you have found the maximum speed you are able to sustain for 30 seconds do that and have a 30 second break and repeat until you can do no more. Then you can adapt either by adding a small incline every week or 2 or increasing the speed or by doing 35 seconds and 25 seconds rest. Try not to follow otehrs numbers and set routines it is about finding your maximum when doing the HIIT. Once you have found your maximum you then slowly up it each week or two. The real key is you want to be pushing so by the end of each 30 second run you are at your maximum. The recovery time has to be short and you will still feel tired when you start the next run but that is what will improve your stamina there are no short cuts. If you are really struggling try a intense jog on a slight incline for 30 seconds and then a 30 second rest and aim for 10 of those. In time you can go faster, longer and on more of a incline. Good luck.
