From what I've gathered, if you have 2 people max affection, even giving one a ring, you can get one of the two random. I didn't want to take the chance on not getting Casc... I mean... Mercedes, so anyone I saw starting to blush, I would shank with my daggers and just fast travel somewhere to lower their affection. Happy that I've gotten Casca.

If you were in speedrun mode, you won't have to use your daggers to lower anyone's affinity. If you had watched all the people doing speedrun mode, they only do main quest and for that reason, they get Mercedes as their beloved. Mercedes is known to fall in love with speedrunners. You can watch youtube videos about people attempting speedrun mode and all of them actually got Mercedes as their beloved for that reason.

So when you said you needed to use your daggers to lower other people's affection, I would assume you wanted to also complete all sidequest as well and still find a way to get Mercedes as your beloved. That I can understand. In case you don't have the Dark Arisen version, there is always a way to lower everybody's affinity with their names on them and it does not have to always be unshealth your weapons. Like for example, with Maximillian, you can bump into him to lower his affinity. As for Selene, you can toss her to your bed, or with Aelinore, you can use Fournival that 5 days to go into Aelinore's bedroom to unshealth your weapons on her to lower her affinity. I know in Dark Arisen version, you have liquid effluvium.

When I meant use my daggers, I meant I would slice them about 3 or 4 attacks and then quickly fast travel to another area. 3 or 4 hits from the dagger and quickly leaving don't have them fear you, but drop them to around neutral affinity I would say. And yeah, it's when I aim to do every quest which would lead to many starting to like you when you don't want them to. If it's a guard liking, then I would get a good distance away and attack them with a few hits from my arrow and quickly fast travel out before any other guards reach me.

I actually got Quina as my first beloved, then in one playthrough I was trying to get the gold idol quest and didn't know that I failed it because of how far I progressed and I thought I had to trigger it by being friends with Fournival and the dragon kidnapped him 😅. I still wanted to fight the dragon for my loot and I threw Fournival into the ocean out of frustration 🤣. In the playthrough where I did Aelinore's quest line which was pretty neat idea, but ended up in the awkward/lucky situation of having Aelinore and Selene living in my house

I believe Selene is the only way to get 2 beloveds in your house, at least from what I've seen so far. Simply because the end of her quest allows her to stay with the player and we can't say No 😂. Been trying to get Mercedes as a beloved, but doing Aelinore's quest line definitely ruins it it seems. Never knew about the ring until recently, going to try that when I can. Honestly didn't know about the ring a decade ago, and there wasn't any guides on it. At least it didn't come up back then when I searched romance options

I recently got fornival and was like wtf, but I guess it's cause I was constantly buying those makers finger arrows from him, truly the best weapon in game, better than blast arrows or throw blast, that one shot arrow kills most enemies including the final dragon boss at the end, the arrow is expensive and is slightly cheaper after saving fornival in court, the arrow doesn't work on death or daimon but everything thing else instantly dies with one shot, if you use it in a room full of enemies, the arrows white tentacles will spread across instantly killing evey enemy in the room

If your arisen were any archer type whether it is ranger, strider or magick archer and you have Fournival as your beloved, that would of been like having Robin Hood marrying Friar Tuck and having sex. Fournival's clothing looks so much like Friar Tuck. After all, it is known that Robin Hood would be friends with Friar Tuck. Friar is also bold just like Fournival. Fournival can be a reference to Friar Tuck and an arisen who has any archer vocation can be a reference to Robin Hood. So when Fournival sells you Maker's Finger, that will be his way of saying he is joining you. So the challenge of this game is to make sure he is not too attach to you.

Since Quina is your beloved, I will tell you that Quina can be a useful team member by bringing her to this Rise of the Fallen sidequests. Parting Gift sidequest and Rise of the Fallen can be mixed. When I challenged Balsac, I hide behind Quina because I wanted to see her cast spells. I don't hit a single skeleton nor the boss Balsac. I just have Quina do all the work. When the skeleton hits Quina, her spells will be interrupted but her health does not drop that high. Quina may not be good at aiming but it is worth it to see her casts her spells. So while Balsac summons armies of skeletons, Quina just kills the skeleton for me. So that is the 1 battle that Quina can help the arisen after all. Quina can be a useful in a battlefield after all since the location does take place in a Catacomb. I figure since Quina does want to help her childhood friend in any kind of way, having Quina join temporary can be a way for her to help. The arisen can use Quina as a shield after all. I take it that Quina automatically learns to be a sorcerer once she is a nun.

@@dugarrYT Quina is known to mix her sidequest with other people's sidequest. It even works on Valmiro's sidequest too. In the wiki, it also state that Valmiro is also the arisen's childhood friend. So in the background story, it may say Quina cares also for Valmiro but in the test run, Quina just ignores the fact that Valmiro collapse in the Witchwood forest. All Quina do is pretend not to see Valmiro. All Quina will do is stand there and not care. Only the arisen would give healing herbs to Valmiro. I guess Quina does last longer then Valmiro. Glad Chief Adaro and Elvar never turned to Valmiro to look for Quina because chances are Valmiro is just going to fall to the floor and want more herbs before reaching Quina. Here is the copy and paste text. "There was one girl who watched warmly over him and that was Quina. She often chided him for being too reckless and always kept an eye out for him, but never criticized him. In shorter terms, Quina no longer talks to Valmiro like she used to in the past. So in the test run, I guess the way how Quina treats her 2 childhood friends is that Quina gives more attention to the arisen more then Valmiro. By mixing Lost and Found and Dying of Curiosity, you will encounter strange behaviors. Almost like Valmiro and Quina not seeing each other despite them standing right in front of each other.

So it has always been easy for me to find Valmiro's mission to follow. You have more options to choose in DD2. As a matter of fact, there is no strings attach for the arisen in DD2. Every sexual relationship the arisen gets is casual hook up no matter who that sex partner is going to be. So there is not going to be any marriage, no committed relationship. The arisen will have more opportunities to have sex multiples times with more different NPC. In DD1, the arisen is only allowed to have sex twice and that is it. In DD2, the arisen can have sex with Willeihmina and Ulrika and the rest of them in the brothel service so therefore the arisen can have sex multiple times. Plus the arisen pays money for sex in that brothel service and there will be many different NPCs waiting in line for the arisen to pay up and have sex with them and the arisen can choose to be bisexual if they wanted to.

@@gevonstria Both innkeepers will have their affinity raised easily the more you use their services. What you got to learn to do is at least learn to lower their affinity. You can lower your affinity. You only need to learn how to lower affinity and then you are golden. The inn service is important and should not be avoided. If it is Cassardis, you can get away carrying them and tossing them and not get thrown in jail to lower his affinity. So it is good that you chose Pablo. If you chose Asalam at Gran Soren, you got to avoid beating him up because guards will throw you in jail. If you were to lower Asalam the Innkeeper at Gran Soren, you can only unshealth your weapons around him to lower that affinity.

@@gevonstria Now if you did did Bad Business sidequest where you paid Madeline $5000 to go back to Cassardis and Pablo becomes your beloved, that would mean Madeline will have the whole entire inn to herself at Cassardis. So that could make Madeline a boss of the inn. The only exception is no sleeping at the inn service when Madeline is in charge. She will only be a peddler at the inn. So I can imagine when you accidentally had Pablo as your beloved and supposed you paid $5000 to go back to Cassardis, that whole entire inn at Cassardis would already become her own gift shop.

I go for the arisen's next door neighbor who is Merin, Mayra and Lewes. Married couples in Cassardis is known to be ok with open marriage and they don't mind sharing the spouses with the arisen. Merin in the cutscene will say its a dragon. Since Merin is already a married man, I decided to become Merin's mistress. My arisen is a homewrecker. And on top of that, his wife is ok with open marriage and she does not mind sharing her husband with the arisen. Since Mayra's escort quest would be opened up after Reward and Responsibility, that is the time to propose to Merin right in front of Mayra. I can give Merin a wedding ring called Arisen Bond right in front of Mayra and Mayra will still be ok with it. Mayra is always thrilled to see the arisen come home. Mayra always greet the arisen saying welcome home. Since Mayra always loves seeing the arisen coming home, I decided I can steal Merin's wife which will mean Mayra will have a wife and a husband. Her husband will be Merin and her wife will be my arisen. So I turn Mayra into a bisexual woman. As for Lewes, I love the way how Lewes say yahoo in a girl's voice. Lewes is a same kid who lost the father priest's scriptures. When the arisen comes back to Cassardis right after Mercedes just took the arisen to Gran Soren, Lewes is going to say you come back, what did you bring me. Once I click on present button option, I gave Lewes beast steak and then Lewes will say "Yahoo" in a girl's voice and then say "Thanks" in a normal voice. Lewes is the son of Merin and Mayra. Lewes is 14 years old.

Once you accept the parting gift quest, Quina would be considered invincible inside the Catacomb. Even if your arisen were to start from level 1, Quina can do the fighting, so the arisen can hide behind Quina knowing that she does not take damage from enemy attacks inside the Catacomb. I mean sure, Ogres and skeletons can hit Quina and Quina can fall to the ground but the health will still be at 100% which means no matter how much hit Quina takes, there is no damage to her health. Parting Gifts and Rise of the Fallen can mix You can even bring her over to fight the boss in that Rise of Fallen sidequest. In the woods, Quina is vulnerable to damage but once in her nun outfit, she does not take damage. So if you think about Grigori being able to kidnap Quina, she would be in that outfit dressing up as a nun. So strange that Quina can be kidnapped by a dragon Grigori despite her being immortal. I can assure you that Quina can be more then your beloved. Quina can also be your fighting partner inside the Catacomb. So if you bring Quina with you to a battlefield inside a Catacomb, you can consider that as a childhood friend watching your back.

@@RaidenKaiser In a video game such as Dragon's Dogma, get to know people is simply just click on the talk button option. The more you talk to them, that is how you get to know that person. As for Quina, she is already considered the arisen's childhood friend. The more you talk to her, Quina will open up to you and then it will be possible to turn that childhood friend into your romance partner. All it takes is read the dialogue. Then by the the you are near Deny Salvation, you should already have that wedding ring ready so that meant after talking to her and getting to know her, that is when you propose to her. Think of it like it is real life. Would you want to marry a total stranger or do you prefer to get to know the person before marrying him/her? Playing a game like this makes you want to think how you choose your romance partner. Talking to that person and giving gifts is like building a bond. The more you build the bond, it counts as getting to know each other.

The first beloved was madeline, and then in my 2nd startover she died by drowning when I went to the beach to gather fish but respawned at the inn after a few quests. Then I got a guy called valmiro during the final battle🙄 I wonder if I use the ring now during the post game, if I will get that person in my third final battle. 🤔

If it were me, I always prefer to return the arisen bond back to my beloved before meeting up with Seneschal. I mean originally, after the Deny Salvation battle, that arisen bond did fall off. I know many players might not of think about returning the ring back. Many players will choose to hang on to that arisen bond. As for me, this part is just my playing style, but whenever my arisen is married, I always prefer the arisen's beloved to put on a wedding ring in their fingers. I mean think about this if it were real life. If you were married, won't your spouse want you to wear a wedding ring or if you have a spouse, don't you want your spouse to continue to wear that wedding ring? So in the game of Dragon's Dogma, there are many players that will go like it is ok to be married and not put a wedding ring on their fingers. I know many people in Dragon's Dogma excuses their spouse for having their wedding ring off their fingers but in post game, it is up to you if you want to apply that post game like it is real life. Would you prefer your arisen's spouse to have a wedding ring off their fingers or do you want the arisen's spouse to wear that wedding ring?

@@krat40 As long as you don't kill Grigori, then you still have a chance to do Witch Hunt. After if by reading the wiki, it is stated that quest does not expire. It only expires if you kill Grigori. Dragon's Dogma is more like sequence based. Unlike Dead Rising games, there is no time limit.

If you choose an NPC that don't relate to sidequest, then those sidequest for your beloved don't apply to you. There are tons of NPCs that don't offer your arisen a single quest. Some just takes your gifts or your wedding ring. If your beloved is related to certain sidequest, then you may give gifts, the ring and do sidequest as part of your options.

it depends, every time you talk to an npc you get "points", the npc with the most points will be your beloved in the end. doing quests, escorts, giving items just puts you more ahead than just talking. what makes the ring special is that it puts you at max instant.

Actually, Lost and Found is gone only when the arisen starts the Everfall. So if you just went into Gran Soren, you still have a chance to do Lost and Found. I have test run this multiple times. There is also the wiki that states that you can combine Dying of Curiosity with Lost and Found. That will be the time of waking up Valmiro right in front of Quina. All Quina will do is watch and ignores when Valmiro is knocked out. When the arisen is knocked out by Grigori, Quina cares.

Not quite. Even if you complete Parting Gift side quest, Quina will come back as soon as you kill that Cockatrice or get that Cockatrice to run away in defeat. Remember that your main quest will be Honor and Treachery. Once you complete Honor and Treachery, you start Reward and Responsibility. So therefore, right after you have sex with Aelinore in that Duchess in Distress sidequest, you will have a chance to see Quina returning from her trip if you go back to that Cathedral. Apparently, that main land is not that far away because Quina does come back. You do have a chance to give Quina that wedding ring/arisen bond along with Godsthrone Blossom right after doing that Duchess in Distress sidequest.

In the stages; it says on Fandom wiki that you NEED to do 2 Wyrm Hunt Quests in order to get Come To Court; and one of the Wyrm Hunt Quests IS the quest to dicypher the tablet... So which is it? Because if Witch Hunt does not open up until Stage 4 (Which is after Come To Court as far as I can see on the list) then your list here does not make any more sense than making this whole damned game so freaking convoluted as far as quest lines and WHEN they can be completed. * The "beloved" status also doesn't guarantee as far as I have looked up, that X NPC WILL be the one that the dragon drags into the final battle to screw MC around with. It's a big boost to affinity, but the romance system is massively stupidly programmed. So was the ending (since it INVALIDATES any actual "romance"!!!) and so were pawns in general. Including inclinations and the fact they CANNOT take Hybrid jobs. Which means they miss out on some POWERFUL augments that would help them be much more durable. Since they don't actually ever heal themselves with items beyond a capped point. [The whole white vs. grey healing idea was also incredibly stupid. As was rotting items, and jack all for your carry weight] Don't even get me started on the climbing controls, the stupid monster grab so wiggle L stick back and forth until you break it, or your thumb... There is a LOT I hope they either outright remove, or change heavily for the next game. Including having an actual story to speak of that doesn't abuse a half baked concept of continual vicious cycle by constant reincarnations. No matter whether you win or not... (Not as high concept as they think it is, and does a massive disservice to EVERY character in the game as far as any viable arc) ** For those that would whine about spoilers: The game is many years old now. You've either played it, or have not. I didn't share too much more than one playthrough would point out.

@@Malacite Quina does not leave. Once you leave Gran Soren and on your way to Tainted Mountains, you can stop by at the Cathedral to see Quina. Quina really does come back from the Main Land. Once you are finished with Reward and Responsibility, Quina does come back. So even if you previously completed parting gift, Quina is not going to commit to her overseas journey. Sister Clarus will reinstate Quina. The people who leave the game for good is Mercedes, Reynard, Valmiro, and Aelinore, but not Quina. Only way for Mercedes, Reynard, Valmiro, and Aelinore to come back to town is if one of them becomes your beloved. Quina is not required to be your beloved in order for her to come back to town. Even if you see Quina leave, Quina really does come right back. Even after Quina said she will commit to her job as a nun overseas, she could not commit. Quina really does beg for her old job back and Sister Clarus will go like I will reinstate you even if cutscenes don't show it. I promise you. Quina is already at back with Sister Clarus at the time your arisen was having sex with Aelinore so you do have a chance to give Quina a ring after having sex with Aelinore. Here is how I know. Imagine starting from level 1. That means no port crystal which means I have to walk by foot. If I wanted to take a break from fighting, where will I go so that I don't deal with any monster encounters? I would go to Catheral so that I have a chance to save my game. Surprisingly, Quina did come back. Imagine Quina coming back.

In my last game it didn't work, I gave the ring to Selene and Mercedes appeared in the final scene :c later in Arisen's house were the two best waifus (Selene, Mercedes) in the game :3 what a blessing

@@cadaveramatore Once you beat the 2 bosses in Deny Salvation and you don't see the ring drop from Grigori, then turn off the game before the game autosaves for you. That way, you can have a do over. It will be recommended to sleep at an inn before attempting Deny Salvation. That way, you have another chance to raise Selene's affinity. If you feel like the ring itself is not enough for Selene, add some Toadstool Sitter for Selene and then give her the arisen bond. Good thing Selene is not going anywhere and will stay in Cassardis. Take more time to do more sidequest or escort quest or perhaps use that time to keep going after Ur Dragon because the longer you stall, Mercedes will lose interest in your arisen. I mean many people will fail to get Mercedes because she cannot be spoken to last before Deny Salvation.

Cassardis just happens to have a weird culture thing saying anyone who is an adult calls the arisen cousin. Anyone who is 14 or under does not call the arisen cousin. Even cassadis people who is old enough to be the arisen's mother or father calls the arisen cousin. People in their 20s or older calls the arisen cousin.

If you were to play DD2, you can visit any random village or pass by any random strangers and they will call your arisen Cos. Those people aren't even living near the arisen's home and nowhere blood related to the arisen. So it is weird that an arisen who started out as a soldier in military uniform, got scratched and marked by a dragon and took the title sovran would be called Cos by villagers or people who aren't even in military uniform. Random strangers in DD2 does call the arisen Cos. Unlike DD1, the people do not even have to be neighbors or living in a same town in order to call the arisen Cos. Even the people who isn't part of a human race calls the arisen Cos.

You most likely need to leave Quina alone once you complete all her sidequest. Once you complete Parting Gift, there is no more reason to even visit Quina. You won't even have a reason to see Quina. When you speak to Quina without any purpose, the game itself thinks you could not detach yourself from your childhood friend Quina. This applies to all NPC. The game needs to also judge who you speak to last. You can give the ring to Maximillian and then let Maximillian follow you to Deny Salvation. Maximillian's escort quest is going to be near the front door of Deny Salvation. You just have to be careful not to let Maximillian go inside with you or it will be escort ques failed. You just need to drop off Maximillian and the Encampment right in front of that door where Deny Salvation quest is at. Purpose of escorting him is also to gain affinity from him.

@@Qladstone Unsheathed will not work on everybody. There are some that can and some you can't. So lets suppose if you wanted to lower Selene's affinity level, you got to carry her, toss her in your bed, rinse and repeat. If Mason were at the Cathedral, you cannot unsheath Mason, you most likely need to attack Mason which is luckily rules of hitting don't apply to you if you are not in Gran Soren. As for Maximillion, you most likely need to bump into him because hitting him means you get arrested. As for Aelinore, you can definitely unsheath her each time you prepare for Fournival's trial. Aelinore will be in her bedroom and that is the time you can unshealth her. That way, it is guaranteed that Aelinore will have sex with your arisen as the 1 night stand.

​@@hp2546 Cool tips, thanks! I didn't think so much, I just try not to raise affinity of too many people in the first place, but I guess it's unavoidable eventually. I thought of even more guaranteed idea. Start escort quest with whoever you want to lower affinity with, then just bring them to somewhere secluded and give them a good dressing down. (Not the most chivalrous act might I add.)

Damn, I replayed the entire game just to use this, and it didn't work. I'm not saying the ring doesn't work. I'm saying that giving the ring to someone, "right before heading out to kill the dragon", didn't work for me. Maybe using it a little bit before that would work? I don't know. I'm so dissapointed and over this that I'll just finish what's left of the game once more and... uninstall. I've finished Bitterblack Isle twice, and killed Death, so it's not like there's a lot more content for me in this game.

you have to be given the ring before "Deny Salvation". The moment you meet Grigori at the top of the Tower, your beloved is already be captured.

@@dugarrYT Yeah, I realised about that, so you should give the ring to your beloved before speaking to the Duke to go deal with Salvation, but not right before heading to kill the dragon. That would come after. Anyways, Dragon's Dogma 2 will surely have a better romance system, right guys?

@@joseijosei After watching people do the walkthrough on Dragon's Dogma 2, it is clear that the arisen would be just like Savan for a romance system. I mean if you played as Savan in DD1, you noticed that when Savan went after his dragon, he clearly did not have a mission to rescue his beloved. Based on the novel, Savan already had a lover way before he started his mission to chase the dragon and Savan was already marked as an arisen. So in DD2, you will go through romantic sidequest sooner then expected. No need to wait to slay a dragon or come near the final main quest to have any romantic cutscenes. After all, Savan was a soldier before becoming an arisen. The arisen in DD2 was also a solider before becoming an arisen. Our arisen in DD1 was a fisherman/fisherwoman.

@@joseijosei Update, it turned out that I found a video about Dragon's Dogma 2 where the arisen can have options to romance other women other then Ulrika and Wilheimina. Turned out the arisen in DD2 can have sex a lot more then the arisen in DD1. For example, the arisen in DD2 can pay money just to have sex and get naked in bed with ladies. Wilheimina gives the arisen free sex. Wilheimina can also give the arisen brothel membership where the arisen get to pay money for the sex service. There are men who is also willing to wait in line too so an arisen also have a chance to become bisexual.
