Ed, I have to share with you that this video was well timed in my life... I am working on standing up my own business again. I have tried and failed more times than I care to review but I have to say that the thing I thought was holding me back was not that thing, it is Influence / Persuasion. Time and time again I was always seeing it as " I can't get a sell or no traffic to sell to" and the reality is I just suck at Influence! I find this completely dishearting due to the fact that I have been in a leadership role for the past 13 years. I feel as a whole that I bat .500 half the people like/ love me and half want nothing to do with me and I have been okay with that. The other thing I am struggling with is how to transfer the knowledge I have to a wider groupset. One on One I do okay with larger groups meh, so I see where I energy needs to go. Thank you again for this well-timed video.

EdMylett Maybe this isn’t everyone’s reality. I’m not sure. What if you’re very successful with what you do. Very very respected by many. You discover that you want to go further but what you’re currently doing will not take you further.... I’m not talking about the feeling of going back to zero. That’s not it all. I mean the inevitable culture shock. The transitional period. Adjusting. Do you have any advice for that situation? How would one cope with that? What can make it easier? Who should you network with? How do you network with them? Can you leverage your current reputation and your current community to transition into this new thing?

I want to put my goal out there to the community for accountability reasons, because if I write it here so everyone can read it, I am holding myself accountable, and also if by some miracle someone who shares my enormous ambitions in the relevant field would see it, read it, maybe contact me and we go to work on making it a reality together. I live in Iceland, and my initial goal was to get into rental real estate investing but then I found out through my research that the kind of real estate I want to invest in dosen't really exist here. So, I have decided to build it. If it dosent exist yet, be the one who builds it, right? The goal is to become the first real-estate tycoon Iceland has ever seen. I want my company to develop and rent out the most modern, most excellent, elegant, desirable, best equipped apartments in the world! I want to monopolize the entire rental market in Iceland, I want to own it all, 100% market share! I want to be the "Rockefeller of rental real-estate" and be so big that the icelandic government will have to intervene to divide my company up just like the US government did with Standard Oil. Yes Sir I have. It all starts with me selling my truck hiring a telemarketer for my insurance book of business I am growing and I aim to hire 3 to 5 more by Oct. My goal is to sell 20 policies a month. I wrote a game plan out to get me to 80 sales per month in 3 years and to continue that for 5 years it gets more and more exiting from there but it all starts from 2019. I am currently listening to Bruce Springsteens " can't start a fire without a spark" soooo perfect for this moment. I love love life. Thank you Ed.

This is gold. And it's so unusual to see a man of your magnitude actually answer the comments himself. Hopefully you'll get a chance to read this one as well, as I have a question I'm somewhat struggling to find an answer to as of lately. First things first, though. The most important thing that I got from you here is the fact that you've got to be consistent in order to sell, to persuade and to influence. You've got to repeat the same thing over and over to yourself and to others. "Bad leaders tell new things to old people, great leaders tell old things to new people." It just struck me. Your mission has to be constant. It can't change all the time. Constant variety doesn't indicate that the person is interesting. It indicates that he or she doesn't have a mission at all. Clarify your mission. Clarify your life. And then stick to it and sell it, over and over and over again, to yourself and to everybody else. It makes perfect sense. And it also makes me realize I don't have a clear mission myself. Maybe you could make a video about that as well? Thank you, now - as for the question, it has to do with what you mentioned a bit earlier in the video, regarding the evangelical belief of the sorts of some people, including myself, I have to be honest here, regarding their ability to influence. I used to invest heavily in learning as much about persuasion and influence as I could, while I was working for a company that sold (and continues to sell as of now, but without me at this point) quite unethical informational products, to say the least. I'm not with them for more than 5 months now, but shortly before I decided to resign I managed to close a client which I had to use my the whole "persuasion inventory" for in order to get the deal done. Ever since then I got a somewhat weird feeling, which I took at a sign of confidence back then, but which now seems more of a somewhat distorted version of arrogance. There's definitely a ton of things about selling, persuasion and influence I don't know. I can definitely learn more. So why do I believe I'm good already? Should I go back to feeling inferior? That seems like a wrong thing to do. Is it arrogance? Is it confidence? What's the difference between the two? Maybe you could expand on this topic in one of the future videos as well, as I'm sure there are a lot of people who might be struggling with this as well. There are people who feel absolutely worthless about themselves, even though they might be reasonably good at what they do. There are people, on the other hand, that are nearly not as competent as they believe to be, yet they have an air of confidence - and maybe arrogance? - around them. How do you balance this out? Does it even make sense to balance this out? Most of the entrepreneurs I listen to - including yourself - seem to suggest the most efficient thing to do is to be humble, yet confident. I'm not entirely sure how that is possible. If you're humble, you're aware of your shortcomings. If you're confident, you're sure of your abilities. Where am I wrong? Excuse my walls of texts. Hopefully, you'll get a chance to give me an answer as well. If not - no problems. I'm infinitely grateful for all the information you put out in any case. #MaxOut

When you mentioned about telling new people old things, it made me think about how we're always becoming a new person and by reiterating to our new self information as far as the dreams and goals that we have for ourselves, we will continuously become the driving force for ourselves.
