Context: In year 12, studying Maths, FM, politics and economics Question: Does taking 4 A-levels maximise my chance of getting into top unis for economics such as LSE/Oxbridge or should I do just Maths, FM and econ since they will just look at my top 3 subjects for predicted grades?

Great question. My view is that it depends on the grades. If 4 A-levels is strongly holding you back and that weakens your overall performance, do 3. 3 A*s would be better than lower grades for 4 A-levels in my view. However, if you think you can manage 4 A-levels, it would definitely help you for the top universities. Also, it gives you the space to mess up/ do worse in one A-level as long as you do well in the others. I thought doing 3 A-levels would help me more because I was confident I could ger 3 A*s - but I surprisingly got A*A*B. Perhaps if I had done 4 I would have had the backing of another subject. Hope that helps :)

As a “smart” person I don’t think we should just call people who do good in school automatically smart cause I’m supposedly smart as I’ve always gotten the best grades in all my classes, banged my GCSEs, UCAT, mocks, etc but if you see me outside class you’d think I’m set 8 and I got plenty of friends in the same boat, not really relevant to the video but just saying to anyone who doesn’t get good grades ur not any worse off than us “smart” people
